Born in Oakchia, Ala., he moved to Elyria in 1946 from Meridian, Miss. He lived in Lorain for the past 11 years.
He was employed at US Steel, now Republic Technologies International Inc., as a steel laborer in the coke plant.
Mr. Junior was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Elyria for more than 50 years. He was also a member of United Steelworkers Local 1104.
Survivors include his son, Albert of Elyria; daughters Jessie Walton of Lorain and Dora H. Brown of Brunswick; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brothers Matthew Harmon of Elyria and Earnest Harmon of Sandusky; and a sister, Hettie Johnson of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dora (nee Retta); his second wife, Cora (nee Allen); parents Albert J. and Maggie (nee Blackmon) Junior; a sister, Luberta Banks; twin brother, Robert, and brothers Daniel and Richmond.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Bethany Baptist Church, 334 17th St., Elyria, where services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Rev. J. Howard Timmons and the Rev. William Campbell, pastors of Bethany Baptist Church, will co-officiate.
Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Lorain.

Robert Allen Long
Robert Allen Long, 49, of Anderson, S.C., formerly of Lorain and LaGrange, died Feb. 5 at the Anderson Medical Center after a long illness.
He was born in Lorain.
Mr. Long served in the Air Force for 20 years before retiring.
Survivors include a son, Wayne of Anderson, S.C.; and brothers David, Jerry and Glenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmot and Ruth.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Nesbett Cemetery on state Route 57 in Grafton Township.
The Rev. Walter Speith will officiate.

Cordelia Reid
Cordelia Reid (nee Claridge), 81, of Amherst, died Thursday at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Combe Martin, England, she moved to the United States in 1956 and had been a resident of Amherst since 1959.
She was employed as a seamstress by Louis Cohn's Men's Wear in Lorain for 10 years and also was an independent seamstress.
Mrs. Reid was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Amherst.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Norman B.; a son, John of Chicago; daughter Delia Reyers of Amherst; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothea (nee Ford) Claridge.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday.

Lenore Flontek
Lenore Flontek, 56, of Lorain died Wednesday [June 7, 2000] at Community Health Partners West following a long illness.
Ms. Flontek was a member of St. Mary Church, Lorain.
Survivors include her aunt, Mildred Takacs of Lorain; and a cousin, Carol Ardo of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Rosella (nee Takacs) Flontek.
Memorial service will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, 310 8th St., Lorain.

Willis M. Erswell
Willis M. Erswell, 100, of New London died Tuesday at Integrated Health Services of New London at Firelands.
Born in Trumbull County, he lived most of his life in the New London area.
He graduated from New London High School in 1917. He was honored as the oldest living New London High School alumnus in a celebration March 11 at Integrated Health Services.
Mr. Erswell was employed by Bendix Westinghouse in Elyria as a maintenance supervisor, retiring in 1965. He was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron for five years and worked for the New London Chick Hatchery. As a young man, he raised sheep for A.B. Cook on the Townsend Farms north of New London.
Survivors include a niece, Marian Smith of New London; and nephews Archie and Lawrence Cook, both of New London.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Marybelle (nee Hubbard), in 1958; an infant son, William Hubbard Erswell; and his parents, Willis C. and Elma E. (nee Beech).
Friends may call 1 p.m. until the services at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London.
The Rev. Reuben Dunckel, pastor of the New London Missionary Alliance, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Grove Street Cemetery, New London.

Richard L. Schofield
Richard L. Schofield, 60, a lifelong resident of Elyria, died Wednesday at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after being ill for several months.
Schofield
A 1957 graduate of Elyria High School, he graduated in 1961 from National Radio School in Cleveland as an electronic technician and an industrial communication technician.
He served in the Army from 1961 to 1963 and was stationed in Okinawa.
Mr. Schofield worked at Ohio Edison for 23 years before retiring in 1993. Before working with Ohio Edison, he worked with Lear Siegler in Elyria.
He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Elyria and the Frank S. Harmon Masonic Lodge 663 in Elyria.
He enjoyed gardening. Mr. Schofield also liked to talk on the citizens band radio under the name "Ready Kilowatt."
Survivors include his wife of 34-1/2 years, Nancy L. (nee Neubauer); a son, Robert of Elyria; daughters Laurie Hirsch of Columbia Station and Holly Sanker of Elyria; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman H., in 1990; his mother, Doris L. (nee Robertson), in 1997; and a brother, Thomas A. Schofield Sr., in 1998.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 330 Second St., Elyria.
The Rev. Dennis F. Fredriksen, pastor, will officiate.

Donald E. Taylor
Donald E. Taylor, 49, of Amherst died Tuesday at home after a sudden illness.
Survivors include a daughter, Casstina Eastep of Hart, W.Va.; a brother, Edgar of Amherst; sisters Anna Wood of Vermilion, Linda Cody of Amherst and Juanita Nottingham of Oak Hill, W.Va.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.

Mary Elizabeth Pierson
Mary Elizabeth Pierson, 93, of Elyria died Monday in the Elyria United Methodist Village following a short illness.
Born in Port Clinton, she had also resided in Tucson, Ariz., and traveled the U.S. extensively.
She had been employed in the offices of the Timms Springs Co. in Elyria before retiring in 1973 and moving to Arizona.
Mrs. Pierson attended the Laporte United Methodist Church for many years.
She was a member of the Tucson Audubon and the National Audubon Society and was active in the Senior Center in North Ridgeville and the Elyria United Methodist Village Senior Center.
She enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include her daughter, Lois Jean Bruce of Elyria; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1951; her son, Lee in 1999; five brothers and one granddaughter.
Services were Thursday in the Blackburn Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton.
The Rev. Keith Mostad, pastor of Grafton United Methodist Church, officiated.
Burial was in Laporte Cemetery, Carlisle Township.

Shatamala T.‘Nika’ Smith
Shatamala T. "Nika" Smith, 30, of Elyria died Friday at the EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria following a sudden illness.
Born in Winchester, Tenn., she moved to Elyria in 1974 and was a 1989 graduate of Elyria High School.
She was employed as a cashier at Burger King in downtown Elyria.
Miss Smith was a member of True Vine Baptist Church in Elyria.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, family and friends. She also was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include her daughters Jessica, Teanna and Shanika, all of Elyria; her mother, Gloria of Elyria; father, Lewis of Nashville, Tenn.; brothers Victor Gray of Mooreville, W.Va., and Martease of Nashville; paternal grandmother, Bessie Bowlin of Nashville and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Eva Gray; grandfathers, James Simmons and Lake Smith and great-grandmother, Jessie Gray.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at True Vine Baptist Church, 737 W. 18th St., Elyria, where funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday.
