Anna Isabelle Maslyk-King
Anna Isabelle Maslyk-King (nee Tumas), 93, of Lorain died Wednesday at the Pine Valley Care Center in Richfield.
Born in Cleveland, she had resided in Lorain since 1911.
She worked in the payroll department at the former National Tube Company in Lorain until 1957. She then worked as a sales consultant with the Higbee’s Department Store.
Mrs. King was a charter member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain where she served as an Eucharistic Minister.
She also was a member of the Marian Guild of the church, the Senior Sociables, the 20/30 Club and was a member and past treasurer of the National Council of Catholic Women. She also was a member of the Lorain Family Y.
Survivors include her son, Joseph Maslyk of Lorain; a daughter, Mary Ann Dombroski of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; a stepson, James King of Lorain; a stepdaughter, Patricia King of Lorain; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary A. Scalzitti of Greenville, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Maslyk; her second husband, F.R. King; a granddaughter, and her parents, Joseph and Marcella (nee Balsies) Tumas.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain, where a Christian wake service will be 8 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain.
The Rev. John Elmer, associate pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

Robert Herrick
Robert Herrick, 80, of Amherst Township died Saturday at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria following an extended illness.
Born and raised in Lorain, he graduated from Clearview High School and had been a resident of Amherst Township since 1948.
He was owner and operator of Herrick Orchard Farms for 30 years before retiring in 1990.
Mr. Herrick was a member of Old Stone United Methodist Church in Amherst.
As a young man in high school, he was active in politics and excelled in track. He enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians.
He loved animals and reading and enjoyed socializing with his family and friends.
Survivors include his sons Robert F. of Marblehead, Mass., and Steven A. of North Ridgeville; daughters Susan E. of Ellicott City, Md., and Carolyn A. Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jean Elizabeth (nee Leary), in 1999.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The Rev. Beth McKee, chaplain of the Elyria United Methodist Village, will officiate.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

James A. Thompson
James A. Thompson, 62, of North Ridgeville, died unexpectedly Monday at his residence.
Born in Delphos, Ohio, he was raised in Lorain and had resided in North Ridgeville since 1977.
He was a 1956 graduate of Lorain High School.
Mr. Thompson was employed in the BOP shop at USS Kobe Steel in Lorain as an electronic repairman for more than 30 years before retiring in 1998.
He enjoyed traveling and working in his yard, and he was a collector of belt buckles and old coins.
Survivors include his daughter, Lori McCartney of Hilliard, Ohio; son Dale of Elyria; four grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara MacGregor of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean (nee Peters) in 1997 and his parents, Arden and Erdine (nee Rudisell) Thompson.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Busch-Bogner Family Chapel, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.
The Rev. Bill Seith, pastor of Zion United Methodist Church in Elyria will officiate.
Private graveside services will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
Denise A. Nielson
Denise A. Nielson (nee Davis), 35, of Elyria died suddenly Saturday at her home.
Born in Munich, Germany, she lived most of her life in Germany. She was a 1983 graduate of Elyria High School.
She was employed at the May Credit Co. in Sheffield as a data entry operator.
Ms. Nielson enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time at home.
Survivors include her daughter, Heather Nielson of Elyria; and a brother, Scott Davis of Brunswick.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara A. (nee Kristoff) Davis, in 1978; and her father, William L. Davis, in 1993.
Friends may call noon until the time of the 2 p.m. service Friday at the Busch-Curtis-Scheuffler Family Chapel, 114 Second St., Elyria.
The Rev. Scott Ross, youth minister at the Church of the Open Door in Elyria, will officiate.
Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
Eugene Gilkerson
Eugene Gilkerson, 60, of Sheffield Lake died Monday after being injured in a single-vehicle accident near Norwalk.
Born in West Virginia, he lived in the Sheffield Lake area many years.
He was a truck driver for the Liquid Steel Co. in Birmingham, Ohio, for the last three years.
He was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club in Lorain and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Karen (nee Wuest); daughters Virginia Gilkerson and Mary Seguin, both of Cleveland, Holly Seguin of Elyria and Kim Bayless of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons Steven Gilkerson of Lorain and Marten Seguin of Cleveland; nine grandchildren; sisters Faye Bledsoe and Diane Gilkerson, both of Maryland; and brothers Mell Gilkerson Jr. of Cleveland and Ray and Kenny Gilkerson, both of Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mell and Margaret Gilkerson.
There will be no visitation.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Temple Church, 1420 S. Abbe Road, Elyria.
The Rev. Gene Collings will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date.

Mary L. Boyle
Mary L. Boyle (nee Magner), 80, of Elyria died Friday at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria after a short illness.
Born in Lorain, she had been a resident of Elyria since 1950.
Mrs. Boyle was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elyria.
Survivors include her sons Thomas of Ft. Wright, Ky., and Michael of Elyria; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Zimmer of Pinehurst, N.C.
She was preceded in death by a son, James; her parents, George and Mary Josephine (nee Connell) Magner; and brothers George, Richard and Lawrence Magner.
A memorial Mass will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria.
The Rev. Gary Malin, associate pastor, will be the celebrant.

Helen Wesner
Helen Wesner (nee Kieta), 86, of Avon died Wednesday at Jonathon's Adult Care Home in Avon following a short illness.
She was born in Uniontown, Pa., and lived in Avon Lake from 1990 to 1996 before moving to Avon.
Mrs.Wesner was a homemaker and was family-oriented.
She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and her home.
Mrs. Wesner was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Avon Lake.
Survivors include her son, John of Avon Lake; three grandchildren; and a brother, Stanley Kieta of Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A., in 1998; brothers Walter, Frank and Andy Kieta; and her parents, Joseph and Mary Kieta.
Friends may call 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake.
Prayer services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Church, 410 Lear Road, Avon Lake.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland.

Franklin A. Reinker
Franklin A. Reinker, 78, of Avon Lake, died Tuesday at Bradley Bay Health Center in Bay Village following a lengthy illness.
Born in Westlake, he had been a resident of Avon Lake for the past 55 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was employed as a superintendent by Kirby Company before retiring after 40 years of service.
Mr. Reinker was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gerry (nee Kruse); sons Robb of Highland Heights, James of Columbus and David of Chicago; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Alvina (nee Lange); and his twin sister, Frances Bracher.
Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 32747 Lake Road, Avon Lake.
Pastor Eileen Schwabero-Woyen will officiate.
Private interment will be in Elmhurst Park Cemetery in Avon.
Memorials may be made to the church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
