Henry Strehle
Henry Strehle, 87, of Vermilion, died Monday at Kingston of Vermilion after a short illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Vermilion.
He attended Case Western Reserve College and served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Strehle worked as a tool and die engineer for Bishop and Babcock in Cleveland, Fruehauf Co. in Avon Lake and Pfaudler Co. in Elyria. He retired in 1992.
He was a member and elder of Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church.
He was a charter member of Vermilion Lions Club and a member of Elyria Masonic Lodge 424.
Survivors include a son, Joseph of Elyria; a daughter, Clareta Ann Czelufta of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude B. (nee Thompson) and his parents, Joseph and Clara (nee Hauf).
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, where military honors will be performed at 7 p.m. by Vermilion Veterans Council.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Evangelical and Reformed Church, Ohio, at Grand Street, Vermilion.
The Rev. John D. Hood will officiate.
Internment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.

David Ardyn Weaver
David Ardyn Weaver, 71, of Elyria, died Monday at Life Care Center of Elyria after a long illness.
Weaver
Born in Leipsic, he moved from Findlay to Elyria 35 years ago.
Mr. Weaver was a member of Church of the Open Door in Elyria, where he sang in the choir.
He also was a member of the Elyria Gideons and a former member of Ohio Milk Haulers Association and Elyria Cascade Chordsmen.
Mr. Weaver enjoyed spending time with his family, singing, studying Civil War history, flying and trucking.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Audrey (nee Fox); daughters Lorrie Jacobs of Jacksonville, Fla., Kathy Weaver of Van Buren, Ivy Maria of Rawson and Julie Weaver of Arlington; sons Mark of Elyria, Brian of Orangevale, Calif., and Darin of Windham; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother, Helen Weaver of Twinsburg; sisters Ruth Saltzman of Kent and Mary Laird of Columbus; and a brother, Dale of Findlay.
He was preceded in death by his father, David; a son, Dennis; and a grandson.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road and state Route 57, in Elyria.
The Rev. Robert Schroyer, associate pastor of the Church of the Open Door, will officiate.

Thomas H. Willing
Thomas H. Willing, 74, of Elyria, a teacher, died Friday at his home.
He was born in Dallas and lived in Elyria 40 years.
He graduated from Genoa High School in 1946 and from Bowling Green State University in 1951 with a bachelor’s of science in education.
He was a Bowling Green State University legislative advocate and a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity.
He taught in Salem Township, Genoa and Van Buren school systems.
Mr. Willing was a math teacher, counselor and Occupational Work Experience coordinator at Elyria High School for 23 years before retiring in 1985.
He was head basketball and golf coach and assistant football coach at Elyria High.
Mr. Willing was named Buckeye Conference Coach of the Year and Erie Shore Coach of the Year for golf. He was also an Elyria Sports Hall of Fame trustee and a member of Oberlin Golf Club.
He enjoyed skiing and was the founder of Elyria Pioneer Ski Club at Elyria High School.
Mr. Willing enjoyed golf, antique cars and perch and walleye fishing.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elyria, Elyria Elks Club, Retired Teachers Association and Pioneer Poetry Club.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marian J. (nee Kathrens); daughters Tamera Pepin of Elyria, Julie Rybak of Dillon, Colo., and Elizabeth Harris of Salt Lake City; sons T. Craig of Elyria and Rex of Las Vegas; and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Feb. 15 at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria.
The Rev. Ben Lowell, pastor of Salem Methodist Church, will officiate.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Dale Amos Cotton
Dale Amos Cotton, 82, of Amherst, a retired U.S. Steel worker, died Saturday at his home after being ill for six months.

Born in Lorain, he was a 1939 graduate of Clearview High School. He moved from Lorain to Amherst 46 years ago.
He attended Kent State University until being called to service. He served in the Army during World War II in the Airways Communication Squadron and was stationed in Alaska and Canada. He received the American Theater Service Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal.
Mr. Cotton then returned to Kent State and earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in education and business administration. He earned a master’s degree in secondary school administration at Case Western Reserve University.
He taught high school English and business for four years.
Mr. Cotton worked in rate and salary administration at U.S. Steel for 31 years before retiring in 1982.
He belonged to St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst, where he served on the church council and performed a number of service and support functions in the church. He especially was interested in the effort to refurbish the church’s pipe organ.
Mr. Cotton enjoyed singing and was one of the original members of the Amherst Community Choir. He performed with the choir through the end of last year. He also supported Workshop Players, which isinvolved in school theater and music education.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening, community activities and especially raising and giving away beautiful roses.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marjorie J. (nee Gamble); sons Gary L. and Todd W., both of Amherst, Deal L. of Fayetteville, Ga., and Rob D. of Bolivar; 11 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Phyllis Martin of Seville.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Leon and Evelyn (nee Amos) Cotton, and a brother, Ben A., in 1986.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter United Church of Christ, 582 Church St., Amherst.

Patricia Lee Simms
Patricia Lee Simms, 55, of Tohoka, Texas, and formerly of Lorain, died Thursday at her home after a long illness.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. June 12 at Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 W. Erie Ave. Lorain, where services will be 10:30 a.m. June 13.
The Rev. J. Dennis Henkle, pastor of the Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church in Lorain, will officiate.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
The funeral home will announce further arrangements.
Jeanette Sniezek
Jeanette Sniezek, 62, of Avon, died Wednesday at St. John West Shore Hospital.
Born in Lorain, she was a lifelong resident.
She was baptized at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain, and lived at Our Lady of the Wayside Guadalupe House in Avon.
She enjoyed going out to eat and shopping with her friends.
Survivors include a brother, Edward Sniezek of Lorain; and a niece and nephew.
Ms. Sniezek was preceded in death by her parents, George A. and Veronica (nee Jakubowski) Sniezek, and a brother, Stanley A. Sniezek.

Fred H. Stobe
Fred H. Stobe, 90, of North Ridgeville, died Wednesday at Bradley Bay Health Center, Bay Village, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Cleveland, he was a lifelong resident of North Ridgeville.
He was a stationary engineer at G.M. Fisher Guide Plant in Elyria for 32 years before retiring in 1974. He also built more than 20 homes in North Ridgeville. He was a charter member of North Eaton Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Middleburg Heights Church of God and enjoyed farming and selling vegetables from his vegetable stand.
Survivors include a son, James, and a daughter, Nancy Schartman, both of North Ridgeville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanora Albers of North Ridgeville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amanda Stobe, and a brother, Walter.
Friends may call 10 a.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. services at David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.
The Rev. Mike Gibson will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, North Olmsted.
