Janice E. Cain
Janice E. Cain, 64, Delaware, died unexpectedly Thursday morning (March 22, 2001) at her home.
She was born September 20, 1936 in Columbus to the late James E. Martin and Edna Jones Carson.
A lifelong Delaware County resident and graduate of Big Walnut High School, she had worked as a data entry specialist for PPG Industries, Worthington Foods and the State of Ohio. She also worked for the bakery department of Buehler's Food Market in Delaware.
Cain was a member of Hyatts United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, walking and collecting lighthouses and Indian items.
She is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, James Cain; three daughters, Christine (Gary) Helmick of Pataskala, Debra (Harold) Kennedy of Lebanon, Virginia and Kathleen (Billy) Alexander of Kingman, Arizona; a son, Steven Lines of Philo, Ohio; a step-daughter, Candace (Tom) O'Keefe of Delaware; two stepsons, James Cain Jr. of Youngstown and Charles (Lynette) Cain of Texas; numerous grandchildren and step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Martin of Westerville and Paul Martin of Phoenix, Arizona; a half-brother, Roger Carson of Phoenix, Arizona; and a sister, Betty Krienke of Phoenix, Arizona.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware, where services were held at Hyatts United Methodist Church, Powell. Interment followed in Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware,

Lela Cain
Lela May Cain, 92, formerly of Howard Road and 35 Lexington Boulevard, Delaware, died Friday morning (January 18, 2002) at Morning View Care Center, Sunbury.
She was born December 23, 1909 in Barnesville to Jacob and Rebecca (Carpenter) Bauman. A Delaware County resident since childhood, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Cain is survived by two sons, Raymond of Sunbury and Ward of Marengo, and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Raymond, died in 1965. A son Leo, died in 2000.
There were no visiting hours. A graveside service was held at Oak Grove Cemetery with the Reverend William Saunders of St. Mark's Lutheran Church officiating.

Katherine Ogden Carr
In memory of Katherine Ogden Carr (Mrs. Thomas), 83, who passed away in September in Springfield, Georgia, a memorial service was held at Harlem Road United Methodist Church.
Katherine was a longtime community member, belonging to the Harlem Garden Club, New Hope UMC and various other organizations. She taught school at both Sunbury and Souders elementary schools.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Carr; daughters and sons-in-law John and Sara Stalnaker and Dan and Becky Thomas, all of Springfield, Georgia; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Mary Jane Carr of Galena; grandchildren Michael Carr of the University of Michigan, Ryan Carr of Westerville, Geoffrey Carr of Ohio Northern University, Tracey and Kim Duncan of Delaware, U.S. Marine Tom Duncan of South Carolina, and Melissa Ware of Columbus; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her pastor at Springfield UMC said "we will remember Katherine as an artist. She was born an artist and possessed a gift, not only of the hands, but of the mind's eye, having the ability to see possibilities, to see what the rest of us don't see, to point it out and preserve it for us to enjoy. It is an image of God; God always sees possibilities and wants to bring something beautiful into being, sharing it with the rest of us, just as Katherine did.
"She worked in many mediums: painting, photography, flowers. But her best medium was flesh and blood, mind and spirit. As a mother and grandmother, teacher, wife, a Pink Lady at the hospital, she saw what could be and put strokes on lives that she touched, seeing the possibilities. She is remembered for her character, her joy, her perseverance, wisdom and laughter."
Benjamin N. Campbell
Benjamin N. Campbell, 77, Sunbury, died Monday morning (June 25, 2001) at Morning View Care Center.
He was born in Darling County, South Carolina on October 7, 1923 to the late Lonnie and Lillie (Register) Campbell. He had lived in the area for 30 years after coming to Sunbury from Ravenna.
A member of the U.S. Navy, Campbell was a World War II and Korean veteran. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for the U.S. Government, Department of Defense. Campbell was a member of the VFW and a life member of the DAV.
Campbell is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dolores G. (LaRue) Campbell. They were married June 10, 1950 in Newport, Rhode Island. Also surviving are sons, Randy (Christie) of Reynoldsburg and Raymond of Sunbury; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Fannie Middleton of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbur, and three sisters, Virginia, Louise and Mary.
Friends called at the residence. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date in South Carolina. Arrangements are in care of the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Lucille Campbell
Lucille H. Campbell (Boothe-Peregrine), 94, Westerville, died Friday (December 7, 2002) at Edgewood Manor.
A member of the Church of the Messiah United Methodist, she was a retired teacher from Big Walnut High School and wrote the lyrics for the Big Walnut Alma Mater.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Boothe, Ross Peregrine and Leon Campbell.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Lois Boothe of Lexington, Kentucky; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Ron Smith of Westerville; a stepdaughter and husband, Alys and Newton Spears of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation was held Sunday (December 9, 2001) at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville, where a funeral service was held Monday (December 10, 2001) with Drs. Arthur Schultz and James N. Spears officiating.
A graveside service and interment were in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton.

Charlotte L. Cantrell
Charlotte L. Cantrell, age 81, of Sunbury, died unexpectedly Wednesday (Aug. 5, 1998) at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.
She was born May 11, 19117 in Crestline to the late Albert and Florence (Glenn) Newell. The homemaker spent most of her life in the Sunbury area, and a brief time in the Marion area. She was a member of the Sunbury Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Cantrell is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Dennis G. and Catherine Cantrell, Darwin W. and Sandra Cantrell, and Larry D. and MaryJean Cantrell, all of Sunbury, and David E. Cantrell of Marion; daughter and son-in-law Sharon A. and Barry White of Pataskala; 13 grandchildren, Terry, Tammy, Jeff, Janice, Daniel, Stephen, Brad, Brent, Brenda, Brian, Mark, Steven, and Vickie; six step-grandchildren, Jim, Dan, Doug, Shannonn, Brian, and Jennifer; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ersell "Red" Cantrell, on Sept. 10, 1987; her daughter Janice; and a grandson, Greg.
Funeral services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, the Rev. Daniel Burris officiating. Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.

Charlotte L. Cantrell
Charlotte L. Cantrell, age 81, of Sunbury, died unexpectedly Wednesday (Aug. 5, 1998) at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.

Jerry L. Carmickle
Jerry L. Carmickle, 49, Sparta, died at home Monday (March 13, 2000) following a seven-month illness.
He was born Dec. 6, 1950, in Paragould, Ark., to Earl L. and Marjorie (Mathews) Carmickle who survive in Lucasville.
Jerry spent the majority of his life in the Portsmouth area, moving to Sparta in 1978 from Columbus. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. A retired road equipment diesel mechanic, he was formerly employed with the maintenance department of Ohio State University. He was a member of Victory Chapel, Lucasville, and FOE Lodge No. 760, Mount Vernon.
Jerry enjoyed camping, traveling, auto mechanics, antique cars, restoring and showing his antique '55 Chevy and '67 Chevy pick up truck. Most of all he loved life and his family.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Judy (Smith) Carmickle; a son and daughter-in-law, William L. and Nadine Carmickle, Marengo; twin daughters and their husbands, Jerri and John Weese, Mount Gilead, and Sherri and Ed Townsend, Columbus; two stepsons and one spouse, William W. and Tracy Weaver Jr. and Joseph D. Weaver, all of Sunbury; a stepdaughter, Rocki L. Feasel, Marengo; one brother, Larry Carmickle, Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty and Ron Diuve and Jeannette and George Walsh, all Corsicana, Texas, and Donna Wright, Seattle, Wash.; his mother-in-law, Betty J. Smith, Cardington; eight grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Katherine Ogden Carr
Katherine Ogden Carr, the wife of Thomas Carr; loving mother of Steven J. Carr (Mary Jane) of Galena and Sara (John) Stalnaker and Becky (Dan) Thomas of Springfield, Georgia; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was a teacher in the Big Walnut Local Schools, a member of the Harlem Garden Club and New Hope United Methodist Church (now Harlem Road UMC).
Preceded in death by brothers Byron and Charles Ogden and by parents Jay and Melissa Ogden. Funeral services were held Saturday.
Iva Mabel Duffey Carson
Iva Mabel Duffey Carson, 86, of Worthington died on Saturday morning (July 18, 1998) at Norworth Convalescent Center in Worthington.
Born on January 26, 1912, in Delaware County to the late Grover and Mattie (Jones) Jackson, she was a homemaker and 35-year resident of Delaware County before moving to Franklin County. She was a member of the Hilliard Senior Citizens and the Dublin Community Church.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Susan Duffey of Centerburg and Craig and Kay Duffey of Galena; two grandchildren, Michelle Duffey of Dayton and Michael Duffey of Galena; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen and George Patch of Delaware and Irene McCormick of Columbus.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Josiah Henry Harrison (Cy) Duffey; her second husband, John Everett Carson; and a sister, Eleanor Firman.
Visitation was at Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home in Delaware. Funeral services were at the funeral home with Dr. William Bowser officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Louis N. Carswell
Louis N. Carswell, 80, Lewis Center, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday (July 24, 2001).
He was born on August 21, 1920 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Louis L. and Edith (Nelson) Carswell.
Carswell was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. Following the war, he become a resident of Columbus in 1946 and constructed his own home in 1955 in Gahanna where he lived until 1979 before moving to Lewis Center.
He worked 31 years for the United States Government with the Soil & Conservation Services Department.
Louis was very active with the Boy Scouts, serving as a scoutmaster of Troop 98 sponsored by the Stonybrook United Methodist Church in Gahanna. He received the Silver Beaver Award from the Central Ohio Council (now Simon Kenton Council) of the Boy Scouts of America in recognition of his dedication to scouting. He also received the Vigil Honor of the Order of the Arrow, a group of honorary campers of the BSA.
He was a member of the Lewis Center United Methodist Church. He also volunteered at the High Banks Metro Park in Columbus and the District Park offices at Sharon Woods.
Carswell built many home projects, enjoyed gardening, model railroading and planes, and was a former member of the Westerville Model Airplane Association.
He is survived by a son, Ken (Kathy) Carswell of Pataskala; a daughter, Lori (Joe) Beatty of Brandon, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Matt (Cindy) and Dan (Robin) Beatty and Logan and Avery Carswell; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn E. Burrow of San Antonio, Texas; and a cousin, W. Alton Carswell of Norfolk, Virginia.
Carswell was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Phyllis M. (Foster) Carswell in 1990, and by a sister, Ethel M. Wood.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware. Funeral services were held at Jersey Baptist Church, Columbus with Pastor John Hays officiating. Interment was in Cheshire Cemetery with military honors provided by the Delaware County Veterans Association.

Patricia S. Beacom Caudill
Patricia S. Bacom Caudill, 48, a lifelong resident of Delaware, died Monday (February 28, 2002) following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness at Grady Memorial Hospital.
She was born on November 16, 1953 to Raymond and Eleanor (Turner) Beacom.
Caudill graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in 1972. She was formerly employed by PPG Industries. Patricia was an avid Ohio State University sports fan. She was a member of the Kilbourne United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Beacom of Delaware; sisters and brother-in-law, Judy Smith of Delaware and Cathy and Frank Peterman of Marysville; a niece, Tracy Beightler of Marysville; nephews, Matt (Sarah) Smith of Columbus and Rob Beightler of Marysville; by many relatives and friends; and by her beloved dog, Shelly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Beacom, and a nephew, Ryan Smith.
A memorial service was held at the Kilbourne UMC with the Reverend John Ferris officiating. Friends were received by the family following the memorial service at the church

Margaret Lucille Caudy
Margaret Lucille Caudy, 84, Sunbury, passed away Monday (March 12, 2001) in Marion.
She was born November 29, 1916 in Cherry Fork, Ohio to the late Edward Pearl and Bertha Mae (Rankin) Moore.
As a farmer's wife and homemaker, she was a 50-year resident of Sunbury and a member of the Cornerstone Church of Christ in Christian Union of Olive Green.
Margaret is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry (Pauline) Caudy and Don (Tammy) Caudy, both of Sunbury; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane (Roger) Sagar of Cardington; five grandchildren, Joe, Pam, Robert, CathyJo and Amy; one great-grandson, Chad; three sisters, Lena Green of Galena, Ruth Straley of London and Mary (John) Ball of Galloway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Caudy, who died August 17, 1991; four brothers, Bert, Ralph, Maurice and John; and two sisters, Martha Moore and Zelma Ione Lute.
Arrangements are being handled by Bennett Brown Rodman Funeral Home, Delaware. Private family services will be planned at a later date.

Charles Chandler
Charles Curtis Chandler, 71, died Sunday (October 14, 2001) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
A graduate of Sunbury High School, he taught fourth through seventh grade at Big Walnut for 31 years. He worked for Riverside Methodist Hospital as a telephone operator.
Surviving are his loving wife of 47 years, Ruth Chandler; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jay Grosse; and four grandchildren, Jared, Caleb, Lydia, and Julia Grosse.
Arrangements are in the care of Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus.
Joyce Chandler
Joyce A. Chandler, 50, of Marengo, died unexpectedly Monday evening at Morrow County Hospital.
She was born on Nov. 8, 1947 in Mt. Vernon to Cap and Joanne (Jordan) Rausch of Marengo. A graduate of Highland High School Class of 1965. School bus driver for 16 years for the Highland Schools. Past president of Highland West Elementary PTO, she coached little girls T-ball, C-ball, B-ball. Volunteer for the Highland School System. Past member of the Marengo Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary, Highland bus drivers card club, and attended Fargo Wesleyan Church.
She enjoyed watching her children play sports.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Leon and Dorothy Jordan and Virgie Rausch.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Randy L. Chandler; her son and daugher-in-law, Cappy and Malinda Chandler of Marengo, two daughters, Melissa Chandler and her fiancee Jeremy Shipman, and Joanne "Joey" Chandler at home; grandson Liam Chandler; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Sharon Rausch of Marengo, Richard and Connie Rausch of Brownwood, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jerry Steele of Marengo; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Marengo. Funeral service was held at Marengo United Methodist Church, with Pastors Jeff Deel and Michael Olinger officiating. Internment at Marengo Cemetery.
