Mary Elizabeth 'Libby' Boyd, 95 of Carrollton, formerly of Bergholz, died February 12, 2008 in Great Trail Care Center, Minerva. She was an avid bingo player and had retired in 1970 as a sales associate with J.C. Penney in Carrollton. She was a Methodist by faith.
Libby was born in Bergholz, OH, August 10, 1912, a daughter of the late Charles F. and Elliott 'Lee' Potts Beckley. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Boyd, a daughter, Patricia Mae Walter, four brothers, Mervin, Charles and John Beckley and Howard I. Drake, and two sisters, Iola Pearl Beckley and Wilma Mae Beckley.
She is survived by two sons, Charles (Ying) Brooks of Elk Grove, CA and Richard (Suzanne) Brooks of Palm Desert, CA, two step daughters, Shirley (Bud) Powell of Mineral City, OH and Donna (John) Lenardos, Canton; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz with Pastor James Porter. Interment will be in the Bergholz Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

SANDRA LEE LANDIS, 57, of Bloomingdale, OH, passed away Friday, February 8, 2008 in Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville following a lengthy illness.
She was born September 29, 1950 in Steubenville, the daughter of the late James E. Hess and Blanche Mae Hysell Martin. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Hess.
Sandy is the wife of Robert L. Landis, the mother of one son, Thomas J. Eckenrode of Newton Falls, OH, 2 daughters, Mary A. Eckenrode Johnson and husband Mark of Richmond and Shannon M. Landis Martineau and husband Lee; sister to 3 brothers and 3 sisters, John Brown of Steubenville, James Hess of Toronto and David Hess of Bloomingdale, Janet Adams and Mary Ann Kranek, both of Bloomingdale and Donna J. (James) McKee of Hammondsville and grandmother to 8 grandchildren, Joshua, Jenna, Logan, Gabrielle, Hannah, Thaddeus, Draven and Rayn.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St. Richmond Monday from 2-4 and 5-7:30 PM at which time funeral services will be held for Sandy at 7:30 PM. Final disposition will be at the convenience of the family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, monetary donations be directed to Mary A. Johnson.
Chester B. McClain, Sr.

Chester B. McClain, Sr., 89 of Richmond, OH passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Arbors Extended Care Facility in Canton. Chester was retired from Weirton Steel, a member of the Farm Bureau, and ISW. He was Methodist by faith and a member of Richmond United Methodist Church. Chester was proprietor of McClain's Ashland outside of Richmond.
Chester was born February 19, 1918 in Doddridge Co., WV, a son of the late Zack and Ethel McMillan McClain. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Judy May McClain and a sister Edith Alewine. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Bernice McClain. Two sons, Chester (Joyce) McClain, Jr. of Canton, OH and William 'Bill' McClain of Wintersville, OH. One daughter, Ethel Ann (Charles) Kortz of Miamisburg, OH. Two sisters, Emogene Galford of Wadsworth, OH and Mary Ellen (Donald) Monigold of Toronto, OH. Grandchildren, Kimberly Hunt, Kelly Gower, Michaelene Sims, Shawn Kortz, Kelly Donaldson, Devon McClain, Caitlin McClain, and Shane McClain. Great-grandchildren, Phillip and Anthony Hunt, Dalton and Dylan Sims, Nicholas and Samantha Gower, Nora and Anya Donaldson.

Marjorie Hyndman, 79 of Steubenville, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville. She was Methodist by faith and a member of Bell Chapel Methodist Church.
Marjorie was born May 24, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska a daughter of the late Alvin and Adelia Mynster Cade. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hyndman, Sr. in 1978, two brothers, William 'Bill' Cade and Leroy Cade, and an infant great-grandson.
Marjorie is survived by five sons, Robert (Mildred) Hyndman of Annapolis, OH, Dale (Lois) Hyndman of Illinois, Ronald (Melissa) Hyndman of Toronto, OH, Keith (Rowena) Hyndman of New Holland, PA, and Terry Hyndman of Fort Worth, TX. Three daughters, Sharon (George) Sampson of Toronto, OH, Vanessa (Jim) Young of Franklin, OH, and Janetta (Mike) Yanik of Smithfield, OH. One sister Shirley (Luvern) Hoerchler of Richmond, OH. Twenty-seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond on Sunday, January 27, 2008 from 4-9 PM. Services will be at the funeral home Monday at 11 AM. Burial will be private at East Springfield Cemetery.
Timothy Edward Kerns

Timothy Edward Kerns, 45, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Mingo Jct. He was employed by Manpower at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center. Tim enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved to watch the Steelers and Ohio State.
Tim was born April 28, 1962 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of Ralph and Dorothy Kerns of Wintersville. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Virginia Stojak.
Tim is survived by his loving wife Theresa McConnell Kerns, whom he married September 12, 1987. Two children Amber and Zachary Kerns. Paternal grandmother Marjorie Creamer of Wintersville, OH. Two sisters Darlene (Bill) Robertson of Steubenville, OH and Charlotte (Shawn) Simpson of Richmond, OH. Two aunts Linda (Tom) Johnson of Richmond, OH and Joann (Jim) Myers of Wellsburg, WV.

James A. Ramsey

James A. Ramsey, 81 of Richmond, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville. Jim served in WWII as a member of the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic where he earned a medal for excellent marksmanship. He worked for Weirton Steel for four years then for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel for 41 years. After retirement he worked for the Jefferson County Airport. Jim was Methodist by faith and a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church. He was a member of Unionport Masonic Lodge F&AM; #333, 32nd Degree with the Steubenville Lodge, and EAA Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 859.
Jim was born January 14, 1927 in Fairmont, WV, a son of the late Charles and Mildred Hoover Ramsey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob, Tom, and Kenneth Ramsey and a sister Jean Skidmore.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Lorraine Skeeles Ramsey, whom he married October 13, 1951. Three children Jim C. (Jan) Ramsey, Judy (Frank) Paree, and Rick H. (Wendi) Ramsey all of Richmond. Three brothers Charles 'Grudge' Ramsey of Annapolis, OH, Perry (Marge) Ramsey and Ivan (Diane) Ramsey both of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. One sister Edna (Dick) Ivanoff of Florida. Grandchildren Jody and Jayna Eynon, Ryan (Cherie) Ramsey, Brad and Greg Ramsey, Jessica and Emily Ramsey, Step-granddaughter Dana Paree. Great-granddaughter Cambrie.

Frank Mader

FRANK MADER, 87, of Harrison, Arkansas, formerly of Bergholz, OH, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison. He was born September 27, 1920, in Unionport, OH, the son oos the late Anthony and Theresa (Berher) Mader. Mr. Mader was preceded in death by his parents; by his first wife, Virgie (Polen) Mader; his son, Donald 'Spider' Mader; three brothers and four sisters.
Frank was a veteran of the US Navy having served during World War II, where he was a gunner aboard the Liberty Ship Sarah J. Hale. He was a coalminer at the Jensie Mine in East Springfield, OH. Following Frank’s retirement, he moved to Arkansas to pursue his hobbies of fishing, gardening and playing music. He will be remembered by his family for his love of potato salad, polkas, and his puppy, Twinkletoes.
Frank Kenneth Mader is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jo Mader of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Alberta Mader of Bergholz, Jeff and Christine Mader of Amsterdam, and his daughters and son-in-law, Anna Mae and Fred Nixon of Dover, OH, Pat Mader and Kelly Mader, both of Steubenville, OH and his step-children, Harry and Janet Janzen of Amarillo, TX, David and Betty Janzen of Ft. Collins, CO and George and Margie Janzen of Perry, OK and Lester and Carla Janzen of Woodward, OK, and Cindy and Dennis Rains of Harrison, AK.
Frank is also survived by six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, 12 step-grandchildren and eleven step great-grandchildren.
Services will be held in Harrison, AK at The Christenson Funeral Home on Thursday. Following those services, he will be transported to Ohio where friends may call from 10 AM Saturday until time of services at 12 Noon at the Everhart-Bove Funneral Home, 285 Second St., Bergholz on Saturday. The Reverend Mark Thomas officiating and burial will follow in the Bergholz Cemetery with full military honors by the Amsterdam VFW.
