William Chandler
William Chandler, 57, of Delaware died on Saturday (Aug. 1, 1998) at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
He was born on May 20, 1941, in Columbus to the late Lunda and Lora (Ousley) Chandler, and moved to Delaware from Columbus in 1973. After 30 years as a master machinist, he retired from Timken Co. of Delaware and was also the past owner of Designs Unlimited, Delaware. He was a member of Sunbury Christian Community Church and Training Center and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodwork.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Mingus, in 1983.
Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Bonnie (Walters) Chandler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Roger Lowry of Delaware and Stacy and Fred Rogers of New York, formerly of Galena; seven grandchildren, Joshua Shilt, Lauren, Adrian, and Spencer Lowry, and Paige, Adam, and Thomas Rogers; two sisters, Jane Reeves of Miegs County, and Bonnie Criner of Sunbury; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware, where funeral services were held officiated by the Rev. William D. Stephens. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church; Charity Newsies, 4300 Indianola Avenue, Columbus 43214; or the American Heart Association, 100 Cottswold Drive, Delaware 43015.

Edmund (Ed) G. Chapman
Edmund (Ed) G. Chapman Jr., 80, died Monday (August 7, 2000) at the Oak Hill Community Medical Center.
Born in Jackson on Sept. 24, 1919, to the late Edmund G. Chapman Sr. and Iva Fern Berr Chapman, he was a lifetime resident of Jackson County.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Louise Eisnaugle.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Ruth McClung Chapman; four daughters, Rebecca D. Stroth and Deborah Biggs, both of Jackson, and Melissa Lynn (Jim) Heine and Sarah Beth (Tom) Hubbard, all of Worthington; grandchildren Gregory Chapman Woolum and Donald Keith (Heather) Woolum Jr., of Upper Arlington, Amanda Lynn Auxier and Michael Edmund Chapman (Chappy) Stroth, both of Jackson,Margaret Ruth Wilson of Worthington, and Marian Elizabeth Wilson of Cleveland; sisters-in-law and spouses Diane and John Adkins of Jackson and Janice and Ron Osbourne of Dayton; and nephews William F. Eisnaugle, a Columbus attorney, and Dr. Barry Eisnaugle.

Martha Chapman
Martha Gompf Chapman, 94, Sunbury, died Wednesday (March 8, 2000) at Sunbury Nursing Home following an extended illness.
She was born April 11, 1905, in Marion County, to the late Jacob C. and Florence A. (Fairchild) Gompf.
She was a homemaker, attended Sunbury Wesleyan Church and was a former member of St. John (Windfall) Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a son, John Gompf, Cardington; three granchildren; one great-grandchild; and a special niece.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Barkley and Ada E. Stokes.
Graveside funeral services were held at Glendale Cemetery with Gerald Davis, pastor, officiating.
Funeral arrangements were handled by DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.

Ryan Steven "Scooter" Charley
Ryan Steven "Scooter" Charley, 16, Westerville, died unexpectedly Thursday (April 11, 2002) at Children's Hospital.
Ryan was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 26, 1985. He was a sophomore and a member of the Class of 2004 at Westerville South High School.
An artist, Ryan enjoyed playing drums, skateboarding, BMX biking, loved animals, alternative and heavy rock music and his 1989 Honda Civic SI. He liked hot rods and volunteered for the Citizens for Humane Action.
Ryan is survived by his mother and stepfather, Michele Casper and Matthew Yoha of Westerville;, his father and stepmother, Donald and Lisa Charley of Las Vegas, Nevada; three brothers, Donnie and Daniel Charley of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Dylan Yoha of Westerville; his grandparents, Rayford and Chloe Casper of Columbus, Don and Ruth Charley of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kay Yoha of Bellville; his great-grandmother, Lorena Steinbrook of Columbus; aunts; uncles; cousins; friends; and his pet animals, Mia, Morgan, Maddy, Ginger and April.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services followed.
Ryan gave the gift of life through organ donation.
Memorial contributions may be made to Suicide Prevention of Delaware County, 11 North Franklin Street, Delaware, Ohio 43015.

David P. Charnas
David P. Charnas, 62, Galena, died early Monday, Nov. 20 morning at Kobacker House in Columbus.
Charnas was born on April 1, 1938 in Bucyrus to Phil and Ann (Gistle) Charnas. The former Toledo resident moved to Galena 27 years ago. He was a retired plant manager for Ohio Bell and a member of St. John Neumann Church. He enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Wanda (Burgard) Charnas; sons David P. (Sandra) Charnas II, Daniel C. (Lorri) Charnas, Jason E. (Sheri) Charnas; and a host of friends.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury. Private services were held with interment at Sunbury Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Hospital, Radiology Dept., 3535 Olentangy River Road., Columbus (43214-9861).

Esther Louise Chattos
Esther Louise Chattos, 78, Centerburg, died early Friday (August 23, 2002) at Heartland of Centerburg.
She was born on August 24, 1923 in Delaware County to the late Cecil and Mable (Ross) Bricker. Esther was a graduate of Sunbury High School, Class of 1941. A homemaker, she was a Centerburg-area resident since 1948.
Chattos is survived by three daughters, Sharon and Michael Shuff of Centerburg, LouAnn and Bill Adams of Centerburg, and Bernie Drake; Scott Behrens of Westerville; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, DeVera Quinn of Columbus and Ruth Shrigley of Orlando, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Lewis A. Chattos, on June 30, 2000.
Visitation was at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where services were held with Pastor Robert Riggs officiating.
Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Lewis A. Chattos
Lewis A. Chattos, 82, of Centerburg died Friday evening June 30, 2000, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born January 31, 1918, in Genoa Township near Galena to the late Charles and Julia Vasas Chattos. A graduate of Galena High School Class of 1936, he was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving in Company A, 6th Armored Infantry of the 1st Armored Division. He had been a prisoner of war and was awarded a purple heart.
Lewis retired from the shipping department of the former Liebert Corp., the current Emerson Electric Company. He enjoyed farming and was a member of Mt. Zion Lodge #9 F & AM.
He was survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Esther L. (Bricker) Chattos, and daughters Sharon (Michael) Shuff; LouAnn (Bill) Adams, Centerburg; Bernie (Scott Behrens) Drake; six grandchildren, one great-grandson; and sisters, Irene Edwards, Sunbury; Julie Comstock, Hilliard; and Clara Kitchen, Portsmouth. He was proceeded in death by his brothers, Mike and Charles, and a sister, Lena Curtis.
Services were held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61 with The Rev. Robert Riggs officiating. Internment with military honors followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Columbus.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Rd., Columbus, OH. 43221, or the American Cancer Society.

Michael Chattos
Michael M. Chattos, 79, of Galena, died Tuesday (June 6, 2000) at his home.
He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. He was a paint foreman for the State of Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean; a daughter, Caroline Michelle Chattos Lechler; three grandchildren, Mike A. Chattos, Curt S. Lechler and Christine-Jean Lechler; a great-granddaughter, Mariah Ann Chattos; a brother, Louie Chattos; and three sisters Julia, Clara, and Irene.
Graveside services were held at the Galena Cemetery. Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, Columbus, was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

Wilma Jean Chattos
Wilma Jean Chattos, 75, Galena, passed away Sunday (May 20, 2001) at Mount Carmel Medical Center. Mrs. Chattos was born in Sunbury on October 25, 1925 and is the daughter of the late Carl D. and Caroline Robinson. Wilma retired as a nurse from Mount Carmel Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael M. Chattos, and a niece, Tammy Robinson.
Chattos is survived by her daughter, Caroline "Mikki" Chattos; three grandchildren, Christine-Jean Michelle Lechler, Michael A. Chattos (Somer) and Curt S. Lechler; a great-granddaughter, Mariah A. Chattos; by two brothers, Milton Thomas and Daniel Lee Robinson; and her stepmother, Annie Smith.
Graveside interment was in Galena Cemetery. Arrangements were by Schoedinger Midtown Chapel.

Rolena Cheadle
Rolena Dell Cheadle, 83, of Sunbury, died on Sunday (Sept. 24, 2000) at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville.
She was born on June 28, 1917, in Chesterhill to the late Emma (Baker) and Joab Rowland, and was a homemaker.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Cheadle; eight brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Vergie Lee McDavid of Mesa, Ariz., and Nancy and Billy Rich of Newark; a son and daughter-in-law, Bernard and Sandra Cheadle of Condit; nine grandchildren, Kevin McDavid of Phoenix, Ariz., Kurtis McDavid of Queen Creek, Ariz., Kelly Kassor of Gahanna, Kate Volzka of Mesa, Ariz., Steven Rich of Newark, Suzanne Brandemarte of Orlando, Fla., and Michelle, Molly, and Joshua Cheadle, all of Condit; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Crouse-Kauber Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral services were with the Rev. Steven Rich officiating. Burial was in Trenton Cemetery.

Dorothy Christian
Dorothy May (Neibarger) Christian, 68, of Rockbridge and formerly of New Albany, passed to join her husband while wrapped in the arms of her loving family on Monday (April 22, 2002).
A 1952 graduate of Johnstown Monroe High School, she retired from AT&T in 1991. She loved to travel with her husband, Kenneth, whom she married on February 24, 1953, and was devoted to for 48 years until his death on May 1, 2000.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Florence Neibarger; sisters Jean Miller and Eilene Baughman; and a brother, Richard Neibarger.
She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother to her daughter, Sharon Christian (Jim Johns) of Rockbridge; her grandchildren, Faith and Aaron Strait of Gahanna, and Tisha and Mark Greer and Micah and Cindy Sartori, all of Alabama; and her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Madison, Evan, and Maria. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, John Neibarger Sr. of Sunbury, George and Alice Neibarger of Johnstown, and Carl and Helen Neibarger Jr. of Columbus; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held tat Cotner Funeral Home, Reynoldsburg, where services were held with Pastor Roger Neibarger officiating. Interment was in Lithopolis Cemetery.

Virginia Clara Rose Christian
Virginia Clara Rose Christian, beloved mother, 85, formerly of Delaware and Sunbury, died Tuesday (October 14, 2002) with love, faith and dignity in Westerville at Manor Care Nursing Home.
She was born September 12, 1917, in Davey, McDowell County, West Virginia, to Harrison and Bessie Rose. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Perron Christian Sr.; her parents; two brothers, Cecil and Claude Rose; one sister, Daisy Williams; and a son-in-law, Paul D. Johnson Sr.
Christian is survived by her children, Norman "Buddy" Rose (Betty) of Georgia, Judith Johnson of Westerville, James (Jean) of Sunbury, Paul (Sue) of Columbus, Lonnie (Cathy) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Charles (Nancy) of Grove City and Cynthia Fitch (dear friend George "Joey" Thompson Jr.) of Delaware and stepson Andrew P. Christian Jr. (Martha) of Celina; 13 grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and on great-great grandchild along with three step-grandchildren and one step-great grandson; one brother, Ronald Rose (Catherine) of Baileysville, West Virginia, maternal aunts Vera Lester and Edna Evans of Oceana, West Virginia; by dear sisters-in-law Ruth Peterson of Wilmington, North Carolina and Lula Christian of Worthington; and by numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Visiting hours were at the Bennett-Brown-Rodman Funeral Home, Delaware, where funeral services were held with Reverend Brian Smith officiating.
Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charity. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

John W. Christy
John W. Christy, 69, of Sunbury, died on Saturday evening (July 25, 1998) at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware.
Born in Mason County, W. Va., on March 19, 1929, to the late Harry and Elsie (Denny) Christy, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Mr. Christy formerly worked as a machinist for White Westinghouse, Western Electric, Rockwell, Kline Manufacturing, and HPM of Mt. Gilead, and retired from Cooper Industries in 1994.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Maxie.
Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Evelyn (Shoaf) Christy; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Theodore "Ted" Christy of Hilliard, John A. "Jack" and Linda Christy of Marengo, and James and Melinda Christy of Dublin; two daughters, Pamela Gower of Bellville and Dianna Jane Christy of Kent; six grandchildren, Tara Nicole Christy of Worthington, John and Allen Gower of Bellville, Amanda and Jacob Christy of Westerville, and Jackie Christy of Marengo; two step-grandchildren, Rikki Donnell of Columbus and Chaz Richards of Dublin; a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Jacklyn Christy of Westerville; two sisters-in-law, Grace Christy and Blanche Christy, both of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury, where funeral services were held with Father Charles Foeller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Delaware County, 561 W. Central Avenue, Delaware 43015.

Cheryl Church
Cheryl A. Church, 45, Sunbury, died Monday morning (October 22, 2001) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
She was born on December 23, 1955, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Charles Clements and June (Knever) Bauers, who both survive in Terre Haute. She was a Sunbury resident for six years, having moved to the area from Terre Haute.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sons, Dylan Church of Terre Haute, and Mason and Jameson Church of Sunbury; her companion, Tom Ruthig of Sunbury; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Cheryl Clements of Terre Haute and Ron and Vicki Clements of Clinton, Indiana; and a sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Joe Bryant of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Visitation was held with services following at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, with Pastor Brian Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Methodist Hospital Foundation, 3535 Olentangy River Road, Columbus 43214 or the American Liver Foundation Northern Ohio Chapter.

James "Jay D." Clark
James "Jay D." Clark, 66, Galena died unexpectedly Thursday, January 2, 2003, at home.
He was born on June 30, 1936 in Honaker, Virginia, to the late John and Katie (Price) Clark. Jay D. was a self-employed carpenter and resident of the Galena area since 1952. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a member of Sunbury Eagles, V.F.W. Post #8736.
Clark is survived by his wife of 43 years, Laverna M. (Bolton) Clark; three sons, James (Sue) Clark of Delaware, Danny (Lang) Clark of Tacoma, Washington, and Jeff (Margie) Clark of Gahanna; a daughter, Kathy Sue (Michael) Fritz of Atlanta, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Visiting hours were at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with Pastor Wayne Booth officiating.
Interment was in Trenton Cemetery.

Jeanne Clayton
Jeanne Clayton, 74 of Columbus, passed way on Thursday (March 11, 1999). He was under the care of Hospice of Riverside and Grant.
Born Dec. 27, 1924 in Sunbury to William and Eulalia (Ross) Clayton. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from Heat and Frost Insulators Local #44.
Survived by wife, Arthena; son and daughter-in-law Marty and Candis; four grandchildren of Utah; three brothers, Kimball, Gail and Eldon; sister Gloria and many nieces and nephews. Ohio Cremation and Memorial Society.
