Blanch Bell Hinshaw
JEFFERSON - Blanch Bell Hinshaw, 59, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 17, 1941 in Burlington, Vt., the daughter of Edison and Anna (McMaster) Bell and had been a Jefferson and Dorset resident most of her life.
She was employed at Channel Products through Adecco Inc., and had previously worked at HASCO Industries.
Mrs. Hinshaw loved to socialize, paint ceramics, spend time with her co-workers, and collect Coca-Cola and Cherokee Indian paraphernalia.
Survivors include two sons, Dan, of Dorset and James, of Orange City, Fla.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Bell of Orange City, Fla., and Robert Bell of Carthage, Tenn.; and two sisters, Mary Jeffers of Jefferson, and Annie Bell of Carthage, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edison Bell and Carl "Porky" Bell; and her parents.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory - Jefferson Home, 17 N. Market St., Jefferson. The Rev. Harlan Nefstead of First Baptist Church in Dorset will officiate. Burial will be in Dorset Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson Emergency Rescue, P.O. Box 294, Jefferson 44047.

Martha J. Dailey
ASHTABULA – Martha Jean Dailey, 74, of Lake Avenue passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Regency Hospital.
She was born January 2, 1935 in Cowansville, PA, the daughter of George and Irene (Simpson) Altman and had been an area resident for over 40 years.
A member of the First Church of the Nazarene, she taught Sunday school and helped in many ways at the church. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and taking walks, going on bus tours, and collecting cows and baby dolls. Her greatest enjoyment came from her family and reading her Bible.
Her survivors include four children, William (Gail) Dailey, Phillip (Edy) Dailey, and Joseph (Sherry Piccola) Dailey, all of Kittanning, PA, and Carolyn (Eric) Hall of Middleburg Hts., OH; seven grandchildren, William Dailey Jr., Melissa Dailey, Joe Wagner Dailey, Phillip Dailey Jr., Nathan Dailey, Stacy Rybarick, and Melinda Dailey; 9 great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Amanda, Ashley, Jason, Chelsea, Zach, Kirsten, Maggie May, and J.R.; three brothers, Jim Altman of CA, Tom Altman of Endeavor, PA, and Vern Altman of Elyria; and two sisters, Kate Senyak of Cleveland and Clara Weber of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Max Dailey; three brothers, Melvin, Bob, and Jack Altman; and her parents.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Friday, August 14, 2009 at the Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula and from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene.
A service will be held at 11AM Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene, 1820 South Ridge Road West, Ashtabula. Rev. Michael Legg, Pastor, will officiate.
Contributions may be made to the Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene.
Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home is charge of arrangements.

Alice M. Irons
AUSTINBURG - Alice M. Irons, 90, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at her home.
She was born Sept. 12, 1910 in Williamsfield, the daughter of Robert and Carrie (Palmer) Woodworth. She had been a resident of Ashtabula County all her life.
She married Albert S. Irons March 27, 1929 in Ripley, N.Y.
Mrs. Irons worked at the Austinburg Post Office.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, and spending summers in Canada.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Rebecca Circle, a member of the Austinburg Grange, and worked with the Juvenile Grange.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kathryn Buell of Dorset; a son, Raymond, of Mentor; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Edythe Newman; her parents; three brothers, Kenneth, Cyril, and Orville; and one sister, Frances Teter.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 828 Sherman St., Geneva. Burial will be at Center Cemetery in Austinburg.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Ashtabula County Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mabel L. Thompson
CONNEAUT - Mabel L. (Kraft) Thompson, 74, of Grant Street, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at her home.
She was born Dec. 4, 1926 in Bloomfield, the daughter of Harry and Alta (Bailey) Kraft. She worked for several years at the Leather Co. in Middlefield, after which she became a lifelong resident of Conneaut.
She enjoyed playing bingo; visiting her family; her dog Blondie; and collecting religious figures, especially angels.
Survivors include her long-time companion, John Blanner; two daughters, Sally Ann McCumber and Tess Jean Thorpe, both of Conneaut; two stepdaughters, Alta Lucas of Conneaut and Paula Burns of Erie; three brothers, Charlie Kraft of West Virginia, Harry Kraft of Cleveland and Monty Kraft of Georgia; two sisters, Linda White of Southerton and Nancy Goodenow of Conneaut; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lewis Thompson; second husband, Alozo Burns; two sons, Cecil E. Thompson and Lewis A. Thompson, Jr.; two grandsons, Daniel L. Thompson and Lewis A. Thompson; and two brothers, Cecil J. Kraft and Sherman A. Kraft.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Cherry Valley Cemetery, Cherry Valley. Interment will follow.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.

Lauri A. Lautanen
JEFFERSON - Lauri A. Lautanen, 88, of West. Erie Street, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 2, 1913, in Ashtabula, the son of Oscar and Maria (Hakala) Lautanen and had lived in New Lyme Township on the family farm most of his life before moving to Jefferson in 1979.
Mr. Lautanen attended New Lyme Deming School. He was married to Shirley (Pier) Long Aug. 27, 1979, at their home on W. Erie Street.
He was a 20-year employee of Packard Electric in Warren, retiring in 1977.
Mr. Lautanen was affiliated with the First Baptist Church in Jefferson and also the New Lyme Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed bowling and golfing, participating in league play until the age of 86.
He started the New Lyme Spud Growers 4-H Club in 1927, growing potatoes and other vegetables. He won a Certificate of Achievement for flowers in 1930 and for vegetables in 1931. He won a 4-H demonstration for a roadside vegetable marketing stand at the Ashtabula County Fair and at the Ohio State Fair. He started the Happy Hayseeds 4-H Club in 1946. Through the years he has enjoyed going to the fair and seeing his children and grandchildren participating in 4-H.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley J. Lautanen; six children, Loretta L. Veneble of Charlotte, N.C., Kenneth L. Lautanen of Saybrook Township, Donald G. Lautanen of New Lyme Township, Thomas D. Lautanen of Ashtabula, Kathryn M. Yeager of Parma Heights and Wendy S. Gruskiewicz of New Lyme Township; nine stepchildren; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Lautanen of Pittsburgh, George Lautanen of Walton Hills and Ralph Lautanen of Euclid; and two sisters, Ellen Gowdy of Ashtabula and Toini Gilbert of Chesterland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy (Howard) Lautanen in 1978; five brothers, Charles, John, Eino, Walter and Ramon Lautanen; and two sisters, Allie Schauweker and Aina Schwab.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. William L. Offutt of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery in New Lyme Township.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the 4-H Foundation, c/o Ohio State University Extension Office, 39 Wall St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Vernon Allen Sharp
AUSTINBURG - Vernon Allen Sharp, 73, of Austinburg, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the Austinburg Rehabilitation8_1_Sharp, _vernon__eps Center.
Born on February 16, 1930, in North Kingsville, he was the son of Ellis L. and Mary Beatrice (Yoak) Sharp. He was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula County, with the exception of a 15 year time period when he pursued his career with True Temper in Cory, PA.
Mr. Sharp served three years in the Korean War, where he was awarded several citations. Retiring in 1983, he was a Tool and Dye Maker for True Temper.
He enjoyed motorcycling, photography, hunting, fishing, camping, and being a "cowboy."
He was a member of the Amboy United Methodist Church, N.R.A., North Kingsville Fire Department Station One, Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #22, and Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Mr. Sharp's favorite pastime was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Allen and his wife, Margaret, of Kingsville, and Wayne H. and his wife, Debbie, of Ashtabula; one daughter, Connie L. Fisher of Conneaut; one brother, Robert, and his wife, Mary, of Mena, AR; one sister, Madeline Locy of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Tammy, Sheri Godenschwager and Heather, and Kristen Sharp; and companion Lena Rhodes of Conneaut.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie E., in 1999; and a daughter, Debra M. Sharp, in 1976.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2003, at BURTON FUNERAL HOME, 1329 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, OH, with Rev. Williams, of the Gageville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Gageville Cemetery.
Calling Hours will from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2003, at BURTON FUNERAL HOME, and one hour before the service on Monday, August 4, 2003.

Allen M. Pochedly
JEFFERSON - Allen M. "Al-Po" Pochedly, 54, of Griggs Rd., Jefferson Township, died Thursday evening, May 29, 2003, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Sheffield Township.
Born on February 12, 1949 in Ravenna, the son of Albert and Delores (Alderman) Pochedly, and has been a Jefferson area resident most of his life, coming from Garrettsville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Pochedly was a self-employed general laborer.
He was a member of the Jefferson Eagles, Aerie Lodge #3881, ABATE/CMRO, and was associated with the Guardians U.S.A. Vets. He loved his motorcycle, camping, fishing, hunting, and working on cars. He previously owned and operated Al-Po's Used Cars on Griggs Rd.
Survivors include four children, Michael L. Pochedly, Amber L. Wintz and Adam C. Pochedly, all of Jefferson, and Joseph A. Pochedly of Concord Township; his companion, Nina Mook of Jefferson; his father, Albert Pochedly of Garrettsville; a brother, Randy Pochedly of Garrettsville; and a half-sister, Connie Young of Albion, PA.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Pochedly.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fred Grimm, of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Cremation took place at the Care Group Cremation Center. Burial of cremains will take place at Oakdale Cemetery following the services.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family or to ABATE/CMRO, Region 13, P.O. Box 1563, Ashtabula, OH 44005-1563, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.
