Helen Louise Cline
Helen Louise (Davidson) Cline, 91, Sunbury, died Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2000) at Morning View Care Center, Centerburg.
She was born Nov. 1, 1908, in Hartford Township in Licking County, to the late Otis H. and Etta Beatty Davidson.
A lifelong resident of Delaware County, she married Donald Cline in 1924. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1963.
Mrs. Cline was active in many charities and organizations including, the Grange, American Cancer Society, Republican Party and the Ohio Federation of Republican Women. She served as a staff member for Congressman John R. Kasich.
She was a charter member of Delaware County Senior Citizens Inc. and was instrumental in the acquisition of the seniors' Park Avenue building. She was also a member of the Central Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.
She is survived by one son, David Cline; two grandchildren; many foster children whom the Clines cared for; nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Davidson.
Calling hours were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home (Sunbury). Funeral services were at the funeral home. Interment was at Trenton Cemetery.

Charles H. "Charly" Coghlan
Charles H. "Charly" Coghlan, 93, Delaware, died Sunday evening (March 4, 2001) at Delaware Court.
Coghlan was born on July 1, 1907 in Buffalo, New York to the late Edward and Sarah Hogan Coghlan.
A graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Coghlan moved from Columbus to Delaware in 1960. He retired in 1971 as President of Ohio Medical Indemnity. He was a member of Delaware St. Mary Church.
Charly enjoyed humor and liked to share his interest in history and American civics.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Pineau Coghlan whom he married on October 21, 1936; a son, Charles J. (Debbie) Coghlan of Powell; a daughter, Sheila Rohrbach of Raleigh, North Carolina; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Coghlan was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation was at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware. Mass of Christian Burial followed at Delaware St. Mary Church with Father Kevin Kavanagh as Celebrant. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Leah Cole
Leah Cole, 95, Westerville, passed away Saturday (April 28, 2001) at her residence in company of her family. Born August 21, 1905 to the late William and Grace Kenyon Roe, she was a graduate of the Ohio State University.
She was an elementary school teacher for 36 years, including Genoa Township Red Bank one-room school house (1926-28) for three years; Galena for 16 years; Painsville, Kentucky for one year; Courtright Elementary, Columbus, for one year; and Big Walnut (1958-73) for 15 years. She was a winner of the Outstanding Teacher of America Award in 1973.
Cole was a member of Mizpah Chapter OES.
She is survived by a son, James T. Cole, Galena; a daughter, Ilene R. Cornell, Westerville; eight grandchildren, James C. Cole, Thomas D. Cole, Steven R. Cole, Johnathan W. Cole, Diana Cornell, Connie Cornell, Sandra Cornell and Abbie Cornell Donaldson; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lauris Chester Cole and by five brothers, Wilbur, Harold, Edwin, Merrill Roe and Arthur.
Visitation was at the Hill Funeral Home, Westerville. Services were held at the Church of the Messiah, U.M., Westerville with Dr. Arthur Schultz officiating.
Interment was in Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
Robert L. Coleman
Robert L. Coleman, 50, Sunbury, died unexpectedly Tuesday (February 5, 2002) morning in the Grady Memorial Hospital emergency room.
He was born in Matewan, West Virginia on April 26, 1951 to the late Elsie and Octavia (Wagner) Coleman. He was a self-employed painter.
A U.S. Marine veteran, Coleman had lived in Sunbury for the past 10 years after coming from Delaware. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Kentucky and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3614 in Sunbury.
Coleman is survived by his wife of 11 years, Jennifer (Sewell) Coleman, whom he married March 3, 1990 in Delaware; two daughters, Jenny of the home and Rosalee (Jamie) Dotson of Kentucky; a son, Michael Bowling of Columbus; three grandchildren, Olivia, Breanna and Jamie; four brothers, Floyd (Glenna) Coleman of Phelps, Kentucky, L. C. (Barb) Coleman of McCarr, Kentucky, and Raymond C. Coleman and Larry Joe Coleman, both of Inman, South Carolina; three sisters, Mildred A. (Ronald) Spears of Radnor, Patty A. (Lonnie) Hamby of Phelps, Kentucky, and Tammy L. Robinette of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and by his mother and father-in-law, Yvonne and Andrew Sewell of Sunbury.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Lee Coleman in 1956.
Friends called at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where services were with Pastor David Warton officiating. Interment followed in the Sunbury Memorial Park.

Frankie J. Collins
Frankie J. Colllins, 56, of Columbus, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at the home of her sister in Delaware.
She was born January 28, 1944, in Tazewell, Va., to the late Frank B. and Inza A. (Wright) Collins. A graduate of Tazewell H.S. in Virginia, she lived the majority of her life in the Sunbury area. Frankie worked as a teacher for Building Blocks Day Care in Reynoldsburg.
She is survived by three daughters, Mindy (Dale) Dougherty, Cindi Ruhl, and Kris Lynn of Delaware; three grandchildren, David Potts of Delaware and Daniel and Drew Dougherty of Worthington; a sister, Vivian Ruthig of Delaware; a brother, Bill Collins of Columbus; sister-in-law Kaira Collins of Sandusky; nephews Matt and Bernie; nieces Kim, Bernadette, and Kathleen; great-nieces Madison and Chelsea; and great-nephews Logan, Garrett, Joel, Christian, and Matthew.
She was proceeded in death by her brothers, Bernard and Charlie.

Jennie M. Collins
Jennie M. Collins, 79, Sunbury, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 27, 2002, at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville.
She was born in Coldwood, West Virginia, on November 17, 1923, to the late Samuel and Mary (Ward) Standifur. She was a homemaker who loved her family. She lived in the Sunbury area for 41 years.
Jennie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Chester Allen Collins. They were married December 21, 1940, in Paintsville, Kentucky. She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Henry G. and Patty Collins of Sunbury; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen J. and Samuel Blevins of Delaware; a son-in-law, Lee Darby of Delaware; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Thelma Click of Paintsville, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Darby; two brothers, Bill Grant and Warren G., and by two sisters, Trenny Hayden and Addy Music.
Visitation was at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where services were held Twith Pastor Charles Smith officiating.
Interment followed in Cheshire Cemetery.

Larry Compton
Larry "Delbert" Compton, 59, Pataskala, died Tuesday (January 29, 2002) at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida.
Born on November 12, 1942, in Sunbury to the late Joseph and Lecta Marie (Smith) Compton, he was a member of the Big Walnut High School Class of 1961 and moved to Pataskala from Sunbury 20 years ago. He was a terminal manager with Matlack, Columbus, for 35 years, and was a member of Hossana Lutheran Church, Pataskala. He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, drag racing and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Eickleberry) Compton, whom he married on April 12, 1970, in Granville; his sons, Jeffrey 'Todd' and Michele Compton of Dublin and Timothy Compton and fiancee Brittany Torchia of Pataskala; daughters and son-in-law Jami and David Nininger of Centerburg and twins Cathi and Cari Compton of Pataskala; four grandchildren, Danielle, Haley, Austin and Alaina; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Becky Hayes of Sunbury; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Robert Grant of Bradenton, Florida, Betty and Park Mayhew of Sunbury, Lenora and Lester Seville of Newark and Jeanette and Douglas Hall of Pataskala; and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, where funeral services were held with pastor Wayne Zavotka officiating. Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Park.

George Conant
George A. Conant, 49, Ashley, died unexpectedly on Thursday (June 21, 2001) at his home.
He was born in Mount Gilead on March 21, 1952, to the late C. Harold and M. Ruth Hart Conant. A 1970 graduate of Mount Gilead High School, he had worked for the former Mount Gilead Lumber Company and the Dairy Mart in Mount Vernon and Sunbury.
Conant was a member of the Delaware County Humane Society, assistant chapter director of the Marion Chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and had served as the Edison Village Marshall for several years and on the Edison Volunteer Fire Department for 24 years.
He is survived by his wife, Terry Compston Conant, whom he married on February 14, 1989; a brother and sister-in-law, Milton "Butch" and Jean Conant of Galion; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Robert Jones of Marion and Mary Jane and Bruce Levering of Johnsville; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at Snyder Funeral Home, Mount Gilead, and were officiated by the Reverend Mary Lou Gompf. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

David Conklin
David J. Conklin, 53, Marengo, died unexpectedly Saturday (Dec. 4, 1999) while deer hunting in Marietta.
He was born in Columbus on May 6, 1946, to Charles and Betty (Adkins) Conklin, Columbus.
Mr. Conklin was a section head at American SHOWA and enjoyed the outdoors, participating in hunting, fishing, trapping and training horses. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Mount Vernon, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3614, Sunbury.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Michele, Norfolk, W. Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Lou Koren, Sunbury; a brother, Tom, Columbus; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jim Might, Westerville; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held and funeral services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury with the Rev. Fred Adkins officiating. Burial followed in Cheshire Cemetery.
Mary J. Conner
Mary. J. Conner, 73, Marengo, died unexpectedly at her home on Sunday (October 6, 2002) morning.
She was born on December 16, 1928, in Greenup, Kentucky, to Ernest E. and Myrtle M. (Stuart)Patton. The homemaker moved to Morrow County in 1970 from Powell.
Conner is survived by her husband of 55 years, William R. Conner; seven sons, Henry (Janet) of Whitehall, Ernest (Jamie) of Waterford, William (Patricia) of Chesterville, David (Barb) of Johnsville, Jefferey (Chris) of Waterford, James of Marengo and Gary (Kim) of Waterford; three daughters, Carol L. Covrett of Delaware, Vickie Hall of Galion and Rochelle Coy of Mount Gilead; three step-children, Sandy Conner of Columbus, Sharon (Tom) Sturgill and William Conner of Washington Court House; 33 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Patton.
Visitation and services were at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville.
John J. Cook
John J. Cook, 83, Johnstown, passed away unexpectedly at his home Monday (September 2, 2002).
He was born on September 28, 1918, in Harlem Township to the late Forrest and Zoe Blamer Cook. He was a lifelong area farmer. Cook was past master and 50-year member of Center Lodge No. 86 F & AM.
Cook is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marjorie McElwee; two daughters, Linda (Si) O'Quinn of Johnstown and Deborah Kirkendall of Center Village; a son-in-law, Bill Sherbourne; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; by two sisters, Ruth (Robert) Evans of Gahanna and Joyce Hunt of Fort Myers, Florida; and by a special friend, Bill Jackson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sherbourne on July 6, 2001.
Graveside services were held at Fancher Cemetery, Westerville. Calling hours were not observed. DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury, assisted with the arrangements.

Frank B. Cooper
Frank B. Cooper, 64, Sunbury, died Friday (April 13, 2001) morning at his residence.
He was born in Manton, Kentucky on October 23, 1936 to the late Henry T. and Artie (Moore) Cooper. He was a retired laborer for the Galena Brick and Tile Company and a member of the Martinsburg Road Church of Christ in Newark.
Cooper is survived by his wife, Mae (Bentley) Cooper whom he married July 21, 1956 in Prestonburg, Kentucky; sons and daughters-in-law David L. and Pam of Delaware, Timothy, and James and Stephanie of Sunbury; daughters and son-in-law Daisy Cooper of Delaware and Lisa and Mike Meeks of Sunbury; eight grandchildren; brothers Arnold (Hester) Cooper of Sunbury, Roy of St. Louisville, Kelly of Sunbury, and Truman of Galveston, Kentucky; and by sisters Bertha (Clifton) Conley of Delaware and Lucy (Lawrence) Artrip of Drift, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild and six brothers, Louis, Glenn, Bill and Jesse Cooper and Oscar and Ernest Milburn.
Visitation was Monday (April 16, 2001) at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury where services were held Tuesday (April 17, 2001) morning with Preacher Delmar Jarvis officiating. Interment followed in Eastview Cemetery.
Raymond Copley
Raymond Copley, 87, died Saturday (December 15, 2001) at Kobacher House, Columbus.
Copley was a member of the Centerburg Church of God, Centerburg. He was retired from Columbus Coated Fabrics and a World War II Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tennessee Crum Copley and Stanley M. Copley, and by sisters and brothers.
Copley is survived by his wife, Martha Jena Copley of Sunbury; two sons, Jerry Dale (Wanda) Copley of Sunbury, and Larry Dwain (Davida) Copley of Columbus; six grandchildren, Rolanda, Tabitha, Jason, Jerry, Larae and Leeda Copley; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Marcum of Columbus; a brother, Carlos Copley of Columbus; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family received friends at the Long Funeral Home, Columbus. Calling hours were held prior to the funeral services held at Centerburg Church of God with Reverend Jonathan D. Mitchell and the Reverend Mike J. Pruett officiating.
Interment was in Sunbury Memorial Gardens.
Betty Jane Cornwell
Betty Jane Cornwell, 74, of Johnstown died on Saturday (Jan. 31, 1998) at St. Ann's Hospital in Columbus.
Born on July 28, 1923 in Columbus to the late Helen (Ryan) Jones and George H. Jones, she was a homemaker and owned her own home. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1688 and the Church of Ascension, and was a former member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was also an avid golfer.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Charles Cornwell; seven brothers and sisters; one son; and one daughter.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene F. and Rick Ross of Condit; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Daniel W. and Lila Cornwell of Alexandria, David A. Cornwell of Reynoldsburg, Michael Cornwell of Columbus, Walter N. and Sally Cornwell of Johnstown, and Charles E. and Mickie Cornwell of Newark; a brother, Thomas Jones, of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and vigil were held on Tuesday at Crouse-Kauber Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday at the Church of Ascension in Johnstown and was officiated by Father Paul Laurinaitis. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Johnstown.
