Jessie R. Icely
PIERPONT TOWNSHIP - Jessie Rose Icely, 85, of Route 6, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at her home following a long illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Warren, the daughter of Clarence and Louva (Foster) Downing.
A resident of Pierpont for most of her life, Mrs. Icely was employed by the former Ames Theater in Jefferson, Carlisle-Allen Department Store of Ashtabula, the Star Beacon and the Penn Line Church of Christ. She was a life member of Penn Line Church of Christ where she was a Sunday School teacher and active in the Ladies Fellowship. Mrs. Icely enjoyed sewing and being with family.
Survivors include her daughter, Cathleen A. Chapin of Pierpont; three grandchildren, Becky, Jenny and Dan; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Henrietta Palmer of Pierpont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R., in April 2001; her parents; and three brothers, Blaine, Dick and Charles Downing.
Service will be noon Monday at Penn Line Church of Christ, 6968 Route 6, Pierpont. Thomas D. Rank of Penn Line Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Penn Line Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Childs & Williams Family Funeral Home of Pierpont is handling arrangements.

Marlyn E. Best
PIERPONT TOWNSHIP - Marlyn E. "Nick" Best, 65, of Route 167 West, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at home.
Born July 26, 1937, in Clarion, Pa., he was the son of Edward and Frances (Swartz) Best and has been a resident of Pierpont for the past 30 years, having moved from Conneaut.
Mr. Best was employed by Molded Fiber Glass of Ashtabula for more than 25 years, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of East Side Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country and western music, watching football, stock car racing, collecting hats and steins and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte V. (Cobb) of Pierpont, whom he married Aug. 23, 1975, in Pierpont; 12 children, Marlyn Best Jr., Frances Gibbons, William Wrisley, Fawn Nagle, all of Conneaut; Carol Hutzell, Dina Cockrell, both of Kingsville; Mona Roerdanz of Ashtabula, David Best of Gilbert, S.C., Cheryl Durden of Swansea, S.C., Holly Postupack of West Springfield, Pa., Dale Best of Cayce, S.C., and Sue Penulaz of San Antonio, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Karen of Ripley, N.Y., Kathy of California, and Silvia of Essex, Md.; seven brothers, Keith of Pennsylvania, Lloyd and Gayland, both of North East, Pa., Bob and Roland, both of Ripley, N.Y., Paul of Waterford, Pa. and Reggie of Buffalo, N.Y.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; son, Edward Wrisley; sister, Linda; brothers, Clide and Larry in infancy and one grandson, Terry Moore.
Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Childs & Williams Family Funeral Home, 96 Route 7, Pierpont. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont at the convenience of the family.
No service will take place at Mr. Best's request.
Memorials may be made to the family and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Craig G. Redmond
PIERPONT TOWNSHIP - Craig G. Redmond, 34, of Route 7, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile crash.
Mr. Redmond was born Jan. 28, 1967, in Huntsville, Ala., the son of Jerry E. and Bonnita J. (Nejbauer) Redmond, and had been a Pierpont area resident for most of his life.
He was employed by Foseco Inc., Conneaut, for the past 13 years.
Mr. Redmond was a graduate of Hocking Technical College, Nelsonville, receiving a degree in forestry.
He was a member of Pierpont Presbyterian Church, Moose Lodge of Conneaut, and was a former emergency medical technician with the Pierpont Township Volunteer Fire Department.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing woodworking and archery, in which he won numerous trophies.
Survivors include his parents of Pierpont Township; a daughter, Samantha J. Redmond of Greenville, Pa.; a sister, Michelle L. Smith of Pierpont; and paternal grandmother, Lois M. Redmond.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Ralph E. Redmond.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at Pierpont Presbyterian Church, 71 Route 7, Pierpont Township, with the Rev. Dave Sherwin officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont Township.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Childs and Williams Funeral Home, , 96 Route 7, Pierpont.
Memorial contributions may be made to the educational trust fund for his daughter Samantha Redmond, in care of Andover Bank, Pierpont 44082. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Helen L. Thomas
PIERPONT TOWNSHIP - Helen L. Thomas, 89, of Scrambling Road, Pierpont Township, died Tuesday morning, April 3, 2001, at her home.
She was born Oct. 23, 1911, in Pierpont Township, the daughter of L. Ray and Alma (Strock) Brockett. She lived in Ashtabula 12 years before moving to Pierpont in 1957.
She was a 1929 graduate of Pierpont High School, then went to Jefferson High School and completed her 12th year with the class of 1933.
She was a member of the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, and in her leisure time enjoyed, flower and vegetable gardening, reading, tracking the weather and being with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Fox of Andover, and Joyce Campagna of Jefferson; four grandchildren, Dan and Derek Fox, Melissa Jeffers and Arvin Campagna; two great-granddaughters; and a brother, Gordon Brockett of Pierpont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arvin E.Thomas, in 1981; a son at birth; and a sister, Leta Brockett.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, 71 Route 7, Pierpont. The Rev. Ed Diehl, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont Township.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Childs and Williams Funeral Home, 96 Route 7, Pierpont.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pierpont Presbyterian Church memorial fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.

Deborah A. Marusczak
PIERPONT TOWNSHIP - Deborah A. Marusczak, 52, of Route 167, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at her home after an extended illness.
Born March 17, 1948, in Painesville, she was the daughter of Joseph and Gloria (Hilling) Chesbrough Jr. She lived in Pierpont the past two years, coming from Middlefield.
She was the owner of Demi Transport Inc.
She was a member of the Jefferson Congregation of the Jehovah Witnesses, Ashtabula Kennel Club and enjoyed gardening, reading and her dogs.
Survivors include her husband, Michael J., whom she married July 7, 1973 in Chagrin Falls; five children: Patrick E. of Rocky River, Melanie R. of San Francisco, Megan M. Elek of Willoughby, Jessica E. Maas of Parma Heights, and August J. of Pierpont; six grandchildren; and five brothers: Lawrence B. Chesbrough of Mentor, Terry L. Chesbrough of Dallas, Joseph B. Chesbrough III of Willoughby, Michael Chesbrough of Tampa and Christopher Harshaw of Maple Heights.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Christine M. Hagen, earlier this year; and a brother, James Chesbrough.
Service is 4 p.m. Sunday at Montville Congregation of the Jehovah Witnesses, 16471 Route 6, Montville. Dennis Wilmot will preside.
No calling hours will be observed.
Cremation will take place at Care Group Cremation Center in Jefferson.
Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

Kermit Campbell
PIERPONT TOWNSHIP ­ Kermit "Tony" Campbell, 58, of Anderson Road, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation after being admitted on Monday.
Born Aug. 3, 1944, in Johnson City, Tenn., he was the son of Herman and Iris (Parsons) Campbell. Mr. Campbell lived in Ashtabula County since 1968, living in Pierpont Township most of those years.
Mr. Campbell was a graduate of Collinwood High School in Cleveland, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a 25-year employee of the Carpenters Union, Local 95, in Cleveland, retiring in 1999, and a member of the American Legion in Pierpont. He enjoyed rodeos, riding trails on horseback, and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, the former Pamela A. Palmer, whom he married on June 18, 1966, in Cleveland; two daughters, Stacy B. Campbell of Pierpont Township, and Kelley S. Campbell of Cleveland; his mother, of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a brother, Robert of Cleveland; and two sisters, Iris Spencer of Fowlerton, Ind., and Nancy Simmers of Elizabethton.
He was preceded in death by his father, in l999; and a sister, Karen Campbell.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Cremation will follow calling hours at the Care Group Cremation Center.
Graveside services for the burial of cremains are 11 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont Township, with James Onion, assistant to the pastor at Second Congregational­ United Church of Christ, officiating. Geneva Post 6846 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct military services at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, 44720.

James W. Francis
PIERPONT TOWNSHIP - James W. Francis, 97, of Route 167 East, Pierpont Township, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut.
Mr. Francis was born Feb. 11, 1905, in Parkersburg, W.Va., the son of John W. and Mary B. (Bryant) Francis and had been a resident of Pierpont Township since 1973, moving there from Springboro, Pa.
He was a self-employed dairy farmer in Springboro for most of his life before retiring and moving to Pierpont.
Mr. Francis enjoyed auto mechanics, fishing and hunting, and repairing guns.
Survivors include three daughters, Alberta G. Buie of Andover; Carol V. Smith of Conneautville, Pa., and Kay L. Clauson of Stillwater, Okla.; a son, Donald C. Francis of Pierpont; 29 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 59 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margarette G. (Trouten), in 1983; two sons, Lester W. Francis and one son in infancy.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont Township, with the Rev. Jerry Webb, pastor of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Childs and Williams Family Funeral Home, 96 Route 7, Pierpont.

Lee Litwiler
PIERPONT - Lee “Teeter” Litwiler, 81, of Route 6, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at his home. He was born Dec. 22, 1921 in Penn Line, the son of Isaac and Georgiabelle (Partch) Litwiler.
Mr. Teeter attended Peirpont grade school, leaving home at age 14 at the start of the depression to work in order to help his family. He joined the Civil Conservation Corp and worked in the National Park at Tule Lake in California. He then worked at Address-O-Graph in Cleveland.
In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served as an airplane mechanic, truck driver and then a cook in Italy and Africa during World War II. He was honorably discharged in November 1945 with the rank of Corporal.
Mr. Litwiler worked for Spector Trucking Co., Wriss Trucking Co. and Hughes Heating in Andover, before opening his own business, Penn Line Plumbing and Heating. He later retired from RMI Metal Reductions in 1983.
Mr. Teeter was a member of Penn Line Church of Christ since 1935. He served ten years as a deacon and fourteen years as an elder of the church. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio in 1964. He was a master mason of Lodge #284 in Pierpont and Orion #12 Order of the Easter Star.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean Woodard, whom he married Feb. 24, 1946; a son, Larry Lee of Port Huron, Mich.; a daughter, Rebecca Ann of Pierpont; six grandchildren, Larry Jr., Todd Blaine, Charles Hawn, Heather Laftery, Nicholas and Amanda Rhodes; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mercedes Knight of Smyrna, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Isaac Litwiler, Roger and Grant Litwiler; two sisters, Madge Rose and Mary E. Naig; and his parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Penn Line Church of Christ, Route 6, Pierpont.
Relief Lodge #284 Free and Accepted Masons of Pierpont will conduct a Masonic service. Following the Masonic service, the Rev. Thomas Rank, Pastor of Penn Line Church will conduct another service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Pierpont with full military honors by VFW Post 6846.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County, Penn Line Church of Christ or ACCA Home Delivered Meals. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Ducro Funeral Services, Jefferson Home, 17 N. Market St., Jefferson, is handling arrangements.
