Aileen Paulino
ASHTABULA - Aileen Paulino, 99, of East 26th Street, Country Club Retirement Center, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born March 26, 1903 in Ashtabula, the daughter of August and Gustava (Hannula) Luoma and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A licensed registered nurse since 1927, she received her nurses’ training at Ashtabula General Hospital and Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland. She worked as a private duty nurse at Ashtabula General Hospital and as an industrial nurse at the Electrometallurgical Plant in Ashtabula during World War II.
Mrs. Paulino was a member of St. Joseph Church and belonged to the local, district and state Nurses Alumnae Associations, the Ashtabula Women’s Club, Financial club, Stamp club, African Violet club and school parent teacher organizations.
She enjoyed collecting stamps and first day issues and traveled extensively throughout the world with her husband, Judge Herc Paulino.
Survivors include three children, Harry R. Paulino of Columbus, Mary Jane Wilson of Wallace, N.C. and James H. Paulino; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Judge Herc Paulino, on Sept. 4, 1969; two brothers, William and Arthur Luoma; two sisters, Sallie Schiff and Sophie Leonard Porkola; and her parents.
Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Philip Miller, pastor of St. Joseph Church, will officiate.
Calling hours are from noon until the start of the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Geraldine A. Julio
CONNEAUT - Geraldine A. Julio, 78, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson.
Mrs. Julio was born April 23, 1924 in Conneaut, the daughter of Gerald and Geraldine (Glenn) Picard. She graduated from Conneaut High School in 1942.
She married Michael J. Julio June 13, 1942 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Conneaut.
She worked for Dr. Grant as a receptionist and also sold Stanley Home Products. She was a member of the Conneaut Elks, the Conneaut Moose Lodge, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles Club.
In Hudson, she was a member of the Sea Ranch Civic Association, St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, the Elks Club, the Moose Club, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles Club.
She enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating, spending time with her family and ballroom dancing with her husband. For the past 30 years, Mrs. Julio has spent winters in Florida and summers in Conneaut.
Survivors include her husband, one son, Michael J. Julio, Jr., of Clearwater, Fla.; a daughter, Ann Marie Julio of Citrus Springs, Fla.; two brothers, William Picard of Brecksville and Richard Picard of Conneaut; a sister, Clarice DeNunzio of Conneaut; three grandchildren, Michael J. Julio III, Aimee Nicole Lyon and Bridgete Julio, all of Texas; and one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Lyon of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Picard.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, 744 Mill St., Conneaut with the Rev. Raymond Thomas officiating.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut. Evening vigil services will be at 7:45 p.m.
Burial will follow the service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Conneaut.
Glenn H. Loomis
CONNEAUT - Glenn H. Loomis, 87, of Spring Street, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Kingsville.
He was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Conneaut, a son of Stanley R. and Bertha B. (Huston) Loomis.
A 1934 graduate of Conneaut High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served with the Seabees during World War II. He served with the Navy Reserve unit of the Seabees in Erie, Pa., as senior chief petty officer, retiring after 30 years.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Navy Seabee Veterans of America Inc., and Cowle Post 151 of the American Legion.
Mr. Loomis was a self-employed building contractor and a partner in Loomis and Laituri Builders. He built many homes, and remodeled many businesses, in Conneaut, Ashtabula, Erie and Cleveland.
He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for 38 years and was an Eagle Scout. He was a 25-year member of the Lakeville (East Conneaut) Fire Department and served as chief in 1949. He was a patrol officer with the Lakeville Police Department and a lieutenant with the Conneaut Police Auxiliary. He also was a member of the Deputy Sheriff's Auxiliary.
Mr. Loomis joined East Conneaut United Methodist Church in 1927. He served there in many capacities, including supervising the building of the parsonage on Rowe Street and remodeling the gymnasium in the Sunday school following a fire. He also was a member of the church administrative board during the building of the new church on Furnace Road.
Survivors include his wife, Betty E. (Strong) Loomis; two daughters, Shirley J. Smith Krieg of Conneaut, and Carol L. Johnson of Kingsville; a sister, Grace Mozena of Conneaut; four grandchildren, Sharon Miller, and Douglas, Brian and Michael Smith; three stepgrandchildren, Mathew and Daniel Krieg and Karen Colburn; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Viola J. Loomis.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Conneaut United Methodist Church, 809 Furnace Road, Conneaut, with the Rev. Armando Arellano and the Rev. Tim Kraus officiating.
Burial will be in East Conneaut Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.

Albert A. Bess
CONNEAUT - Albert A. Bess, 83, of Madison Street, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1919, in Norwich, Pa., to Clifford and Hulda (Johnson) Bess. He lived most of his life in this area.
Mr. Bess was employed by the former Nickel Plate and the N&W Railroad for more than 30 years. He retired in 1976 as a bridge inspector.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific Theater of operations during World War II.
Mr. Bess was a member of the First Baptist Church of Conneaut. He enjoyed gardening, model railroading, his family and walking.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen, to whom he was married for 56 years; daughters Martha Schwartfigure of Wooster and Ann Shaheen of West Virginia; and grandchildren Jake and Katie Schwartfigure of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Clifford and Richard Bess.
Private graveside service is 10 a.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, officiated by the Rev. Todd Regester, pastor of First Baptist Church of Conneaut. There are no calling hours.
Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, is handling the arrangements.
Richard E. Butler
BRADENTON, Fla. - Richard E. Butler, 78, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, at Magnolia Health and Rehabilitation in Sarasota, Fla.
He was born in Geneva and moved to Manatee County, Fla., in 1972.
Mr. Butler worked at Diamond Shamrock Chemical Co. in Painesville for 24 years. He was the owner of the Lazy Acres Campground in Geneva for 24 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps with the 503rd Paratroop Infantry Regiment Combat Team during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Leona H. (McCracken); sons Robert E. Glenn of Rialto, Calif., and Richard L., of Marietta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Claud (Pete), daughter Jennie Ann and brother Harold.
There is no memorial service.

The Sarasota Chapter of the National Cremation Society is handling arrangements. Scattering of cremains will be in the Gulf of Mexico at a later date.
Eleanor J. Jenkins
ASHTABULA - Eleanor J. Jenkins, 80, of Pennsylvania Avenue, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Kingsville.
She was born June 9, 1922, in Conneaut, to Oscar and Jennie (Lintala) Anderson.
Mrs. Jenkins worked as a nurse for more than 30 years at Ashtabula General Hospital and was the supervisor of surgery.
She enjoyed camping in her younger years.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Jenkins of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 2000, and her parents.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, North Kingsville. The Rev. Elizabeth Eaton, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
No calling hours will be observed.

Dorothy Marie Pasqualone
GENEVA - Dorothy Marie Pasqualone, 77, of Beech Street, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
She was born March 24, 1925, in Ashtabula, to Clifford and Mary (Cook) Askew. She was a Geneva resident for 55 years. She married Ernest (Soupy) Pasqualone Jan. 25, 1947, in Cincinnati.
Mrs. Pasqualone was a part owner of Golf Clinic, in Geneva, for 13 years. It was sold in 1997. She also worked at Industrial Rayon.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Tuesday golf league and Tuesday night bowling league. She loved opening her home to her daughters' friends and was a second mother to everyone.
Mrs. Pasqualone enjoyed golfing, bowling and flower gardening.
Survivors include her husband; daughters Sharon Pasqualone and Karen Anderson, both of Geneva; grandson Ian Anderson; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Askew.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, officiated by family and friends. Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
