Pearl L. Salo
ASHTABULA - Pearl Louise Salo, 93, formerly of Lake Avenue, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born July 3, 1909, the daughter of Alexander and Sophia (Ylatalo) Haksluoto, and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1927 graduate of Harbor High School, she worked as a clerk for the Ashtabula County Recorder's Office, as a secretary for the City of Ashtabula's Sanitation Department, and at the Smith Home for Women in the dietary department.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Republican Task Force and the Ashtabula County Republican Party. She also served as senior regent for the Ladies of the Moose and organized Solitaires, a singles' social group.
She enjoyed writing, helping others, church and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Baruffa of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Tom, Amy, Mike and Chris; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Arvo J. Salo; a son, John D. Salo; a daughter, Sara Ann Wortman; a grandson, Larry Whitacre; four sisters, Lempi Fasula, Betty Halleen, Helen Collins and Hazel Capretta; and four brothers, Paul Haksluoto, and Jerry, Arne and Art Peterson.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ashtabula. The Rev. David Hofer, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Askew-Brink-Ducro Harbor Funeral Home, 1709 W. 11th St., Ashtabula.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Ashtabula Regional Cancer Center.

Anna Kopiel
GENEVA - Anna Kopiel, 82, of Sunset Manor, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at UHHS Memorial Hospital in Geneva.
She was born April 24, 1920, and had been a Geneva resident for 20 years.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sunset Manor in Geneva. The Rev. Kenneth Roberts, of the Pentecostal Church of God, will officiate.
Ducro Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is in charge of arrangements.

Marion Kostalnick
CONNEAUT - Marion Kostalnick, 87, of Conneaut, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the Inn-Conneaut Health Center.
She was born Jan. 5, 1915 in Conneaut, the daughter of the late Frank and Grace (Russell) Lamont.
Mrs. Kostalnick had resided in Conneaut the past 30 years. Prior to that, she made her home in Santa Clara, Calif.
She was employed as a secretary in Santa Clara, Calif., for many years.
Mrs. Kostalnick was a member of the TOPS and in her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Survivors include her sister, Shirley Bennett and a brother, Gordon Lamont, both of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; and three brothers, John, Dale, and Loren Lamont.
Mrs. Kostalnick had requested there will be no services or calling hours.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
The Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, has charge of the arrangements.

Alberta M. Winters
GENEVA - Alberta M. Winters, 81, of Walter Main Road, Geneva, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at her home.
She was born Sept. 27, 1920 in Enola, Pa., the daughter of Ulysses Grant and Bertha (Smith) Beck.
She had lived in the Geneva area since the 1950s.
Mrs. Winters was a member of the Women's Army Corp Auxiliary Air Forces during World War II.
She had been employed at Geneva Rubber Co. and retired from Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
Mrs. Winters enjoyed golfing, gardening and her family.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Winters, whom she married April 25, 1943; six sons, Robert C. of Stowe, John R. of New York, Michael of Cuyahoga Falls, Jim of Warren, Brian of Ashtabula and Timothy of Geneva; a daughter, Joyce Herman of Geneva; 19 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Terry in Vietnam; a brother, Grant and two sister, Naomia and Minnie.
Services will be 11 a.m., Friday at the Kennedy-Billman Funeral Home, 323 South Broadway, Geneva.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

Charles Kissel
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Charles D. "Chip" Kissel Jr., 43, of Stratford Place, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, of injuries sustained March 22 in a motorcycle accident in Daytona Beach.
Mr. Kissel was born in Geneva and moved to Florida in 1986 from Orwell.
He was a graduate from St. Francis College, Loretto, Pa.
Mr. Kissel attended First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach.
He enjoyed softball, woodworking and sculpting Santa Claus figures from clay.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Valerie; four daughters, Victoria, Ashley, and Whitney, all of Ormond Beach and Heather of Ashtabula; his mother and stepfather, Leona and Ken Neibauer of Altoona, Pa.; two brothers, Scott of Madison and Brad of Ashtabula; and a sister, Kathy Shaw of Altoona, Pa.
Memorial donations may be made to the Chip Kissel Accident Fund, SouthTrust Bank, 2111 S. Ridgewood Ave., South Daytona, Fla., 32119.

Rose Salvato
ASHTABULA - Rose Salvato, 89, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the Country Club Retirement Center.
She was born Jan. 16, 1913, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Louis and Carmel (Aloise) Petrunger.
She was a 1932 graduate of Harbor High School, and worked for the Ashtabula District Library and at the Top Value stamp redemption center as a clerk.
She married Louis Salvato at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on July 27, 1940.
She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion.
She enjoyed family gatherings and the company of her nieces and nephews, she was honored by the distinction OF being everyone's "favorite aunt."
Survivors include a brother, Joseph of Ashtabula; and sisters Mary Feralo and Caroline Hayes, both of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on March 31, 1999; brothers Frank, James and Michael; a sister, Jeanette Decker; and her son, Louis in infancy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1100 Columbus Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. Michael Balash will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Paul M. Page
LEESBURG, Fla. - Paul M. Page, 71, of Morningside Drive, Leesburg, died Saturday, March 30, 2002.
Mr. Page formerly lived in Conneaut for 35 years and then in Geneva for 17 years, before moving to Florida.
He was a retired lineman for the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co., and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Page; daughters, Pamela Page of Gainesville, Fla., and Penny Brantley of Leesburg; sisters, Bonnie Hite of Mayfield Village, Evia Middleton of Alabama, and Sandra Page of Conneaut; and two grandchildren.
The Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
