Vincent J. Rose Sr.
CONNEAUT - Vincent J. Rose Sr., 60, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his residence.
Born Aug. 22, 1940, in Conneaut, he was a son of James and Mary (Bartone) Rose.
He was a 1958 graduate of Conneaut High School and attended Kent State University.
He married Carol Johnson May 5, 1962.
He worked for his father at the Rose Lumber Co. and was the owner/operator of the company for the last 40 years.
He was an avid golfer and started the Rose Lumber Classic Golf League. He was well known for his love of photography at Rose's Studio above the lumber yard.
He was a big sports fan and loved coaching CLYO baseball and Little Griders Football when his children were little. He was also a Michigan football enthusiast.
He was the former president of the Downtown Coaches Club and the Conneaut Music Boosters. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Church.
He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and going for rides in his 55 Thunderbird. He loved to be with his grandchildren and family.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Vincent J. Jr. and Timothy, both of Conneaut; two daughters, Lynn Marie Zuchinski of Sagamore Hills and Kimberly Rose of Mayfield Heights; six grandchildren, Vincent, Jacob, Emily, Timothy, Tyler and Noah; three half brothers, Anthony, Charles and James, all of Conneaut; and two half sisters, Rosemarie Armeni and Betty Sheldon, both of Conneaut.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two half brothers, Albert and Frank; and one sister, Martha Rose.
Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Raymond Thomas will officiate.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.

William O. Runyan
KINGSVILLE - William O. Runyan, 82, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his home.
Born July 9, 1918, he was a son of William M. and Aleta (Grey) Runyan. He was a lifetime resident.
He married Margaret Bissell Dec. 31, 1945.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He worked as a laborer in construction, as a custodian for Buckeye Local Schools and was a dairy farmer.
He was a member of the Kingsville Presbyterian Church and the VFW Post 943. He enjoyed camping and gardening.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Lundberg of Webster, N.Y.; three sons, William N. of Kingsville, Alan of North Kingsville and Jeff of Ashland; two sisters, Wilma Herndon of Jefferson and Janice Dickson of Mansfield; two brothers, Calvin of Rome and Norman of Salem; and 10 grandchildren, Scott, Heather, William M., Jacob, Lesley, Alex and Michael Runyan, and Jon, Dan and Andy Lundberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on March 15, 1989; and a sister, Velma, in 1918.
Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kingsville Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Bonnie Habbersett will officiate.
Burial will be at the Greenlawn Memory Garden in North Kingsville.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

Roland P. Thurston
ASHTABULA - Roland P. Thurston, 85, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born July 1, 1915, in Conneaut, he was a son of Henry and Adeline Thurston.
He married Lois Jane Johnson on Jan. 23, 1953.
He was a conductor for Conrail and New York Central before retiring in 1976.
He belonged to Alcoholics Anonymous and enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.
Survivors include one son, Barry of Simi Valley, Calif; one daughter, Janet Zullo of Ashtabula; and three grandchildren, Michael, James and Sabrina Thurston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, in 1999; and two brothers, Harold and Kenneth.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Shane Nanny of the East Side Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Plymouth Township.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

June Clara Murphy
ASHTABULA - June Clara Murphy, 72, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born June 4, 1928, in Jamestown, N.Y., she was a daughter of Wilson and Leola (VanCamp) Chamberlain. She moved from Jamestown to Ashtabula in 1952.
She was a 25-year employee of the former Carlisle-Allen department store in Ashtabula and had retired in 1996.
She enjoyed crocheting, watching movies and especially being with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Dianna S. Rounds of Ashtabula; one son, Louis J. Murphy Jr. of Ashtabula; two grandchildren, Jamie A. Murphy and Louis J. Murphy III; and one brother, Herbert Chamberlain of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, ; her husband, Louis J., in 1972; one sister, Inez Arnold; and three brothers, Donald, Dickey and David Chamberlain.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Edgewood Cemetery, 4011 State Road, Ashtabula Township. John M. Urban of the E. Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses will officiate.
Burial of ashes will follow.
No calling hours will be held.

Bertha Mae Hoskins
GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE - Bertha Mae Hoskins, 98, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Esther Marie Nursing Home in Geneva.
She was born Dec. 5, 1901, in Geneva, the daughter of William and Myrtle (Carmichale) Cadmes.
She owned and operated the Mirmar and Buckeye hotels at Geneva-on-the-Lake, retiring in 1966 after 50 years.
She was a member of Park Street Christian Church and enjoyed gardening and bird-watching.
She married her third husband, Charles R. Hoskins, in 1963 in Erie, Pa.
Survivors include a son, Hyler Shatto of Geneva-on-the-Lake; five grandchildren: Kim Baron and Mark, Scott, Phillip and Jesse Shatto; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Blanche Ellsworth of Richmond, Va.; a stepdaughter, Mary Jane Rogers of Erie, Pa.; and a brother, Bill Cadmes of Ashtabula.
In addition to her third husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence J. Hoskins; second husband, Homer Shatto; a son, Roy; and three sisters: Irene and Inez Cadmes and Grace Bassett.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at The Behm Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. The Rev. Larry Wade, of Park Street Christian Church, will officiate.
Calling hour at the funeral home will be 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service.
Michele E. Schreiber
ASHTABULA - Michele E. Schreiber, 34, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at her home in Ashtabula.
She was born Dec. 2, 1965, in Ashtabula, the daughter of William Niemi of Saybrook and Carole Noce of Conneaut.
She worked at Ashtabula Pediatrics before working at Ashtabula Clinic in the billing department for the past two years.
She was a 1984 graduate of Conneaut High School, and enjoyed spending time and caring for her three children.
Survivors include her parents; her husband, Scott, whom she married May 16, 1987, in Ashtabula; two daughters: Mikenzie and Lauren; a son, Zachary; two sisters: Kimberly Niemi of Conneaut and Tanya Niemi of Saybrook; a maternal grandmother, Dorothy Tobias; step-sister, Traci Hirata of Seattle, Wash.; and a step-brother, Gregory Noce of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, William Tobias; and fraternal grandparents, Martin and Elizabeth Niemi.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Dean Funeral Home, 3137 E. Center Street (Route 20) in North Kingsville. The Rev. Duane Ball, of Harvest International Church in Saybrook Township, will officiate.

William A. Mercilliott
ASHTABULA - William A. Mercilliott, 60, of West 15th Street, a former Chestnut Elementary School teacher, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at his home after a year-long battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.
