Isabel J. Day
ASHTABULA Isabel J. Day, 95, of East 26th St., died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at the Country Club Retirement Center in Ashtabula after a long illness.
She was born Feb. 17, 1906, in Cleveland, the daughter of Alexander and Isabel (Heap) Day and has been an area resident since 1929.
Miss. Day graduated from Miami University in Oxford in 1921 and had done advanced degree work at Western Reserve University of Wisconsin.
She was a teacher in Ashtabula Area City Schools from 1929 until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashtabula and was a member of the church's Wesleyan Service Guild and the United Methodist Women.
Miss Day was also a member of several retired teachers associations and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Her hobbies were crocheting, art and sewing.
Survivors included several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Alexander, Charles and John Day; and three sisters, Florence MacLegan, Adeline Osborne and Millicent MacDonald.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Knollwood Cemetery in Cleveland with the Rev. Betsy Schenk of Plymouth United Methodist Church officiating.
The Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect, Ashtabula, is in charge of arrangements.
Kaleb J. Ball
ASHTABULA - Kaleb James Ball, the infant son of Joshua Ball and Rebecca Marsch, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
Survivors include his parents; maternal grandparents Edward Marsch of Rock Creek and Tammy and Larry Suplinski of Ashtabula; maternal great-grandparents Donald Leers of Ashtabula, Laverne Marsch of Andover, Susan Suplinski of Ashtabula, and Larry Suplinski, Sr., of Ashtabula; paternal grandparents, Joe and Karleen Ball of Ashtabula; paternal great-grandparents, Ray and Cathy Ball and Claudia Tackett, all of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Connie Leers; maternal great-grandfather, Edward Marsch; paternal great-grandmother, Vina Ball; and two cousins in infancy, Stephanie Whitt and Ashley Eisengart.
A private service will be held Sunday at the Morgan Union Cemetery Chapel in Rock Creek. Burial will be in Morgan Union Cemetery in Rock Creek.
Friends may call 11 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.

MacKenzie Hamilton
ASHTABULA - MacKenzie Hamilton, 90, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at the Country Club Retirement III nursing home.
He was born June 2, 1912, in Lochwinnoch, Scotland, the son of William and Mary (Drummond) Hamilton. He lived in the area for 84 years.
He served with the Army during World War II, and worked as a dispatcher for the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula, and the Harbor Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a brother, Walter Abernethy of Painesville and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the former Elma Koski; brothers William and Jack Hamilton; and sisters Janet Reid, Mary Abernethy, Agnes Porter and Campbell Sherman.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, at Potti Lakeside Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Ave. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hour at the funeral home is 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service.
John C. Staley
ASHTABULA - John Charles Staley, 53, of State Road South, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at his home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1950, in Geneva, the son of Walter and Mary (Cauffield) Staley, and had been a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1968 Geneva High School graduate and also received a degree in electrical engineering from Kent State University's Ashtabula campus.
He was a mail carrier at Ashtabula's post office for 18 years and never missed a day of work.
He served in the Air Force for six years and was a Vietnam War veteran. He also served in the Ohio National Guard for 17 years.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion-Dewey Howlett Post 103, and the Ashtabula Rod and Gun Club. He also coached Little League at Cedarquist Park.
In his leisure time he was an avid fisherman and deer hunter and enjoyed sharing those hobbies with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his mother, of Jefferson; his wife, the former Mary Lou Watson, whom he married Jan. 2, 1983; two stepdaughters, Tracy Laurello of Ashtabula and Hope Staley of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a son, Jason S. Staley of Gainesville, Fla.; a stepson, Tom Schupska of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Bonnie Louise Eidens of Ashtabula; and four grandchildren, Jessica, Lindsay, Zachary and Kobe.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Service is 8 p.m. Friday, at Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. Vernon Palo, of Plymouth United Methodist Church, will officiate.
A graveside service will take place Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva, where full military honors will be held.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 6 p.m. Friday until the time of service.

Charlton C. Warring
ASHTABULA - Charlton C. Warring, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Austinburg Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Sept. 13, 1916, in Harpersfield, the son of John and Jessie (Henderson) Warring.
He married Agnes L. Bailey on Nov. 30, 1946.
Mr. Warring served as a chief engineer in the Merchant Marines during World War II. During this time, he enjoyed his extensive travels around the world. When he returned home, he married and helped raise his two daughters.
He was employed as a machinist by Reliance Electric until his retirement.
He enjoyed gardening, maintaining his carefully tended yard and feeding the birds. He also held a civilian pilot's license.
Survivors include his wife; daughters Marlene Lehtinen of Park City, Utah, and Jean Turmala of Mesa, Ariz.; and a brother, Berchard of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his parents, of Geneva; and a brother, Gerald of Ashtabula.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with The Rev. Will Stackhouse of Perry Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in Ridgeview Cemetery.
At the family's request, no calling hours will be observed.

Ella M. Griffin
ASHTABULA - Ella Mae Griffin, 76, formerly of Woodman Avenue, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 11, 1926, in Wilcox County, Ala., the daughter of Peter and Mary (Rivers) London and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1994.
Mrs. Griffin had lived in Cleveland since she was a young girl before moving to Kentwood, Ind., in 1980.
She worked as a turret lathe operator for J&B Manufacturing, Cleveland, for several years, prior to her retirement in 1978.
Mrs. Griffin earned her diploma of Christian Training from United Baptist Theological Seminary, Monroe, La., and was a member of the Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, Amite, La. She also was a Sunday School teacher and did evangelistic work.
Mrs. Griffin was a member of Gray's Temple Baptist Church, Cleveland, while she lived there and served as secretary, sang in the choir, was president of the missionary board, and taught Sunday School, while her husband, Leroy, served as a deacon.
She was a member of Peoples Baptist Church, where she served as deaconess.
Mrs. Griffin also volunteered as a nurse at the Cleveland Red Cross.
She enjoyed studying the Bible, singing Christian songs, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy; a daughter, Dorothy "Dee" Jones of Ashtabula; a grandson, Kwame Ajamu; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Lou Miner of Cleveland and Annie Mae Wells of Warren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Rufus Carlton, Les Carter, Clarence Carlton, and Ernest London; and three sisters, Lucille Brown, Jackie Gunther, and Carrie Carlton.
Service is 1 p.m., Friday at Peoples Baptist Church, 3837 West Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Louis F. Grandberry officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Ashtabula Township.
Calling hours are 11 a.m., until time of service Friday at the church.

Joseph A. Incorvia
ASHTABULA - Joseph Anthony Incorvia, 84, of Ashtabula, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Ashtabula, the son of Angelo and Antoinette (Candela) Incorvia.
A high school graduate, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was retired from the construction trade, and also worked 20 years on the New York Central Railroad.
In the past he was a basketball referee, worked the line for St. John High School football games and enjoyed sports.
He was a member of the East Ashtabula Club, Sons of Italy, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he was a past usher.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margaret Czup; a son, Joseph of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Annette Flynn of Gahanna; four grandchildren, Thomas, Terry and Tim Flynn, and Joseph Michael Incorvia II; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rose Tulino and Florence Notter of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Albert and Angelo; and a sister, Louise Edge.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1200 E. 21st St., Ashtabula. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Saybrook Township.
