Marian Lund
ASHTABULA - Marian Lund, 93, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in the Country Club Nursing Facility.
She was born Feb. 15, 1908, in Cleveland, the daughter of Mary (Pryatel) Louis Novak.
Mrs. Lund has lived and worked in Cleveland until 1971, while in Cleveland she worked for Graphite Bronze and she made draperies for Holzheimers Interiors.
She married Francis Lund on Sept. 1, 1955, in 1973 they moved to Ashtabula.
Mrs. Lund was an active member at the Ashtabula Senior Center and the 55 Plus Club at the Ashtabula County YMCA. She and her husband also enjoyed and attended many Shriner functions.
Mrs. Lund enjoyed sewing and traveling.
Survivors include her daughter, Merilyn Jerome of Spring, Texas; her granddaughters, Jennifer Navarre of Magnolia, Texas, Cheryl Duffield of Bay Village, and Susan Ioas of Cincinnati; three great-grandsons; and one brother, Rudolph Novak of North Canton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1985; and her daughter, Alyce Pokelsek in 2000.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.
Burial will be in Saybrook Township Cemetery.
No calling hours will be held.
The family will receive friends at the luncheon provided at the Murphy Center immediately following the mass.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.

Cosmos Ray
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - Cosmos "Cosie" Ray, 73, of Ashtabula Township, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, in the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born July 29, 1928, in Ashtabula, the son of James and Reonilda Neta (Peterangelo) Ray.
Mr. Ray served in the U.S. Army from 1946 until 1948.
He married Anne (Frieden) on Sept. 10, 1949 in Cleveland.
Mr. Ray obtained his life insurance license in 1957 and throughout his career as an insurance agent attended numerous seminars and training programs. For several years he owned and operated Ray's Insurance Agency.
He was elected as Ashtabula Township Trustee in 1975 and maintained that office for 24 years.
Mr. Ray worked as a trustee to increase the value of homes in the township and worked to get the mall built in the township.
He was a past president of the Ashtabula County Township and Clerks Association. In 1995 Mr. Ray was selected as man of the year for his dedication, efforts and service to the association.
He was also past president of the Northeast Ohio Township Association.
Mr. Ray was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he served on the church council, the liturgy committee, past chairman of the parish festival committee, and was a member of the church's Altar and Rosary Society.
He was active with Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and St. John High School and also served as president of their Parent Teacher Association.
Mr. Ray was a member of the Ashtabula Lions Club, member and past president of the Wolf's Club, and member and past president of the Ashtabula County Cursillo. He also was a member of the Elks Club of Ashtabula.
Survivors include his wife, Anne of 52 years; daughters, Irene Lane of Columbus, Kathleen Ray of Salinas, Calif., and Christina Lewis of Ashtabula; sons, Steven of Fort White, Fla., Cosmos Jr. of Mishawaka, Ind., Daniel of Ashtabula and Nicholas of Columbus; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his mother of Ashtabula; and brothers, John of Erie, Pa., and Donald of Harbor Creek, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his father; a his daughter, Debra Ray; a son, James and a sister, Irene Ray.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
Mary J. Mattson
ASHTABULA - Mary Jacqueline "Jackie" Mattson, 83, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center Hospice unit, Ashtabula.
She was born March 16, 1918, in Dallas, Texas, a daughter of William and Mary Zehner.
After graduating high school, she inspected P-51 Mustang aircraft. She then took a secretarial job, as a civilian, for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Anchorage, Alaska.
There she met her future husband, Raymond Mattson. They were married for 56 years.
After her husband's discharge from the Army, the couple returned to Ashtabula, where she worked at Carlisle's and J.C. Penney, retiring from the latter.
Mrs. Mattson loved to cook and care for her family, especially babysitting for her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the U.S. Her hobbies were working word puzzles and reading detective and western novels.
She was a member of the Revival Center Church, Cook Road, Ashtabula Township.
Survivors include her son, Raymond of Ashtabula; and two grandchildren, Raymond and Renee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in January; three brothers, Dan, William and Richard Zehner; and a sister, Betty Landrum.
Service is 1 p.m. Monday at Potti Lakeside Chapel and Cremation Services, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Randal J. Cimorell
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - Randal James Cimorell, 37, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in western Pennsylvania as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born April 30, 1964, in Ashtabula, to Anthony and Norma (Vacco) Cimorell.
Mr. Cimorell was a manager for Dollar General in Geneva. Before that, he managed the Ashtabula Roller Den and Nappi's Car Wash. He had also managed a beverage shop, was a district manager for Dairy Mart and was an owner of the racket ball club in Ashtabula.
Survivors include his mother of Ashtabula; brother Ron of Ashtabula; and sister Tina Keller of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother Anthony.
Funeral is 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula, with burial following in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Patricia J. Bucci
ASHTABULA - Patricia Jean Bucci, 50, of Lyndon Avenue, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at her home.
She was born May 29, 1951, to Duane and Anna (Anderson) Fenton. Her father died before she was born and she was raised by her mother and "father" Walter Ribo.
Mrs. Bucci worked for the county for 20 years. She spent 18 years at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home and the past two years at the Ashtabula County Commissioners.
She enjoyed painting, crafts and gardening.
Survivors include husband Tim Bucci of Ashtabula; step-children Deanna Bucci of Maryland and Kevin Bucci of Ashtabula; sisters Linda Detore of Ashtabula and Lori Foshag of Monroe, Mich.; and two nephews who were like sons, Nicholas and Brian Detore.
She was preceded in death by Walter Ribo and her parents.
Funeral is at noon Tuesday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, officiated by the Rev. Michael Balash, pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial is Ridgeview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home Tuesday.

Ruth E. Wharram
ASHTABULA - Ruth E. Wharram, 94, of Lake Avenue, died Wednesday, March 3, 2002, at her Silver Sands home in Ashtabula where she had lived for the past eight years.
She was born Oct. 24, 1907, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Edwin and Martha Gilpin.
She worked as a cook for Edgewood Schools until her retirement.
Mrs. Wharram was a member of the East Side Presbyterian Church, where she was a former deaconess. She was also a member of the Martha Circle at the church, a member of the Bugby Grange of Kingsville, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Her hobbies were gardening, flowers, crocheting, cooking and baking.
Survivors include her son, Bruce of Sylvania, Ohio; two daughters, Maureen Davey of Ashtabula and Sharon Fortune of Saybrook Township; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer, in 1992; a grandson, Jeff Wharram; four brothers, Howard, Ed, Ray, and Charlie; and two sisters, Marie and Nellie.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. David Hofer of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Ashtabula officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
