Orville C. Miller
ASHTABULA - Orville C. (Chris) Miller, 94, of Walnut Boulevard, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 15, 1908, in Peru, Ind., the son of Albert and Laura Miller.
Mr. Miller and his wife, Eleanor Y. (Speer), lived in Springfield for 35 years before moving to Ashtabula in 1991.
He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church, and an avid reader, bowler and card player.
Survivors include his wife; a sister, Mary C. Becker of Altamont, N.Y.; six sons, Michael P. of Anchorage, Alaska, Mark L. of Wellington, Chris C. of Roswell, Ga., Allen B. of Marietta, Ga., Richard S. of Jacksonville, Fla., and Steven D. of Eugene, Ore.; and niece Trudy Severino, of Ashtabula, who cared for him during an illness.
He also is survived by 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers and sisters.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church, 5807 Adams Ave., Ashtabula.
Instead of sending flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Mr. Miller's name to Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Dennis Craig Fusco
ASHTABULA - Dennis Craig Fusco, 51, of Allen Avenue died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at his home.
Born April 2, 1949, in Ashtabula, he was the son of Joseph and Eleanor (Johnson) Fusco. He was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula.
He retired from the U.S. Post Office, Ashtabula Branch, where he was a letter carrier. Prior to working for the post office, he was a greenskeeper for the Ashtabula Country Club, where he assisted in developing and building the golf course.
He enjoyed gardening and collecting sports memorabilia and was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. He was a member of the Gashouse Gang and played softball with the Spot B team.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Ashtabula.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his mother of Ashtabula; four brothers, Joe of Cleveland Heights, Dale, Jim and Greg of Ashtabula and one sister Nancy of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, 504 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. Anthony Dusso of Faith Lutheran will officiate.
Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Burton Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Donald H. Mason
ASHTABULA - Donald H. Mason, 80, of West 41st Street died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born June 9, 1921, in Sault St. Marie, Mich., the son of Harry W. and Ida (Palmer) Mason.
An Ashtabula area resident since 1951, Mr. Mason served in the Army during World War II. He was employed with Union Carbide in Ashtabula until 1979 when he retired after 35 years.
Mr. Mason was a member of the First Covenant Church of Ashtabula; the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1463 where he was past president and membership chairman; and the United Steel Workers 3081 where he was a past vice president. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, the Cleveland Indians and spending time with his dog "Alex."
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. (Moore), whom he married April 27, 1945; four daughters, Janet Frasure, Sherla Bates, Cynthia A. Butch and Barbara J. Mason, all of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, Melissa Griggs, Timothy D. and Amanda Butch, David and Mark Frasure; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, James and Robert Mason of Sault St. Marie and Gerald Mason of Elkin, N.C.; and three sisters, Dorothy Hemry of Fenville, Mich., Betty Cole and Judy Cardamoni of Sault St. Marie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by five brothers, Harold, Glenn, Lyle, Herbert and Keith.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Michael D. Williams of the West Avenue Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Doris M. Russell
ASHTABULA - Doris M. Russell, 82, died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Country Club Retirement Center.
Born March 10, 1920, in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of Kenneth L. and Avis M. (Cook) McCormick and had been a resident of Ashtabula County most of her life.
Prior to her retirement in 1970, she worked as a cook for 11 years at Austinburg Elementary School.
She belonged to the Jefferson Community Center, and was a Girl Scout leader for 18 years. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, Emeril Cooking show, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a son, Pete of Ashtabula; three daughters, Kristie Lind-Botello of Hendersonville, N.C., Martha Lee of Jefferson, and Danielle Eschenauer of Ashtabula; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, William McCormick of Levitown, Pa., and a sister, Ann Bender of Willowick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter, on Feb. 25, 1997; a daughter, Bonnie, in infancy; and a brother Jim.
At her request, no service or calling hours will be observed. Burial will take place on a later date.

Charles R. Ward
ASHTABULA - Charles Russell Ward, 90, of Center Street, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Carington Park.
He was born Sept. 26, 1911, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., the son of Merton and Bessie (John) Ward and had been an area resident most of his life. He had wintered in Sanford, Fla. for the past 14 years.
An Ashtabula High School graduate, he attended Ohio State University before entering the service.
An U.S. Army veteran, he landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day and fought in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the BPO Elks 208.
Prior to retirement, he worked for the Ohio Department of Liquor Control for more than 40 years.
He enjoyed attending his grandson’s activities, horse shows, traveling, and genealogy. He also was a Civil War and World War II buff.
Survivors include his daughter, Alice Hauff of Ocala, Fla., and a grandson, Charlie Hauff of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Marianna (Reilly) Ward.
Service is 10 a.m. Tuesday at the family gravesite in Ridgeview Cemetery, Ashtabula Township, with the Rev. Elizabeth Eaton of Messiah Lutheran Church officiating. Ashtabula County United War Veterans will conduct military rites.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. BPO Elks No. 208 will conduct a memorial service at 8:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Almeta E. Craft
ASHTABULA - Almeta Ella Craft, 75, of West 41st Street, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at her daughter's home in Louisville. She was born Oct. 28, 1927 in Geneva, the daughter of George and Nellie Prough and had been an area resident most of her life.
She attended the First Assembly of God Church and was devoted to her family.
Survivors include two daughters; Dianna Jo Viall of Baytown, Texas and Kathleen Shepherd of Louisville; one son, Paul Craft of Ashtabula; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bert A. Craft, on Sept. 30, 2000.
Service is 1 p.m. Monday, at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Brian Wright, assistant pastor of First Assembly of God Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, North Kingsville.
Calling hour is noon Monday, before the service at the funeral home.
Betty M. McKean
ASHTABULA - Betty M. McKean, 86, of Lake Avenue, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born Sept. 10, 1916 in Avon, N.Y., the daughter of Richard and Mary (Cawley) Carter.
She had been a resident of Ashtabula since 1970. She previously lived in Jefferson and enjoyed making crafts and sewing.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Palmer of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, William R. Steward of Louisiana; a stepdaughter, Beverly Balcom of Crystal River, Fla.; a stepson, Howard E. McKean of Louisville; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard J. in 1971; a stepbrother, LeRoy Carter; a daughter, Pearl who was stillborn; a stepdaughter, Betty Barrel; a grandson, Mark Steward; and two great-grandsons.
There will be no service or calling hours. Cremation will take place at the Care Group Cremation Center in Jefferson. Burial of ashes will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery in Pierpont at a later date.
