Gladys J. McCoy
ASHTABULA - Gladys J. McCoy, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born Jan. 17, 1920, in Warrington, Lancashire, England, the daughter of John and Emily (Tickle) Jackson.
She attended on all-girls school, was a girl guide, became an accomplished seamstress and a munitions worker during World War II.
She married Harold J. McCoy in 1945 and came to the U.S. as a war bride in 1947.
Mrs. McCoy, a homemaker, was active in the PTA and Girl Scouts and regularly met with a circle of English women friends. In the 70s, she regularly used a CB. She used the name Quality Street over the CB and was known for her British accent and calling everyone Luv. She loved to read and also enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking, camping and traveling. She made several trips abroad but was especially fond of visiting Niagara Falls.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Wisnyai of Ashtabula and Marylyn Jenks of Bremerton, Wash.; two grandchildren, John Wisnyai II and Tracy Jenks Strong; and two great grandchildren, Ashley Wisnyai and Aydan Strong.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Service is 6 p.m. Monday, at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. Barbara Johnson, Rector of St. Peters Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, North Kingsville.
Callings hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, before the service at the funeral home.
Mary E. Corns
ASHTABULA Mary E. Corns, 87, of Fox Drive, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at her home.
She was born Aug. 23, 1913, in Sherman, W. Va., the daughter of Dana and Florence (DeBussey) Woofter and has been a resident of Ashtabula the past six years, previously living more than 50 years in Akron.
Mrs. Corns was a graduate of Salem University, she was a first class petty officer with the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. She was a home economics teacher in her early working years and later retired in 1975 after working several years in the cafeteria at Goodrich Junior High School in Akron.
She was married to Harry V. Corns Oct. 12, 1945, in Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Corns was a member of Bible Baptist Church and a former member of the Brown St. Baptist Church in Akron, where she was church librarian, a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, she attended the Christian Women's Club and was a seamstress all of her life.
Survivors include three children, Marian R. King of Ashtabula, William R. Corns of Akron and Joseph E. Corns of Barberton; seven grandchildren, Michelle Y. Gage, Jeanette M. Gage, Melissa M. Stevenson, William E. Corns, Charles V. Corns, Joseph E. Corns II and Randell L. Corns; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert C. Woofter of Milton, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1970; a brother, Dana P. Woofter; and two sisters, Eleanor C. Ferrell and Viola Woofter at birth.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Brown St. Baptist Church, 541 Brown St., Akron, with the Rev. Robert L. Kuhns officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Akron.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Bible Baptist Church, 4444 N. Ridge W., Ashtabula, or to the Brown St. Baptist Church in Akron. Envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and the church.
Frank E. Hart
ASHTABULA - Frank E. Hart, 84, of West 48th Street, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born May 15, 1917, in Rome Township, he was a son of Jessie L. and Leta (Loomis) Hart and was a lifelong Ashtabula County resident.
Prior to his retirement in 1979, he worked 32 years for Reliance Electric.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 943 and the East Ashtabula Club.
An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed golf and baseball. He also was a fan of polka music.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald of Conneaut and Raymond Beckwith of Ashtabula; two daughters, Sandra Kay Buchtinec of McDonough, Ga., and Carol Lee Rente of Ashtabula; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard of Austinburg Township; and two sisters, Dorothy Henderson of Ashtabula and Pauline Burnett of Champion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Lago); two brothers, Charles and Raymond; a sister, Della Williams; and his parents.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4534 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Earline B. Washington
ASHTABULA - Earline B. Washington, 79, of West Avenue, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Carington Park.
The daughter of James and Alberta (Johnson) Brown, she was born Oct. 3, 1921 in Chattanooga, Tenn. She was an Ashtabula resident for almost 40 years, and had also lived several years in Cleveland.
Mrs. Washington attended Booker T. Washington High School, and was baptized at St. Elmo Baptist Church, both in Chattanooga.
Survivors include one sister, Vivian Ware of Chattanooga; and four nephews, William J. Walker of Seattle, Wash., Paul T. Walker of Columbia, Md., Saul A. Ware of Nashville, Tenn. and Albert E. Ware of Atlanta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Agnes Turner; and her parents.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Peoples Baptist Church, 3837 West Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Lewis Grandberry officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from noon until 1 p.m. Monday at the church.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Marie Ray
ASHTABULA - Mary Marie Ray, 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 21, 1922, in Conneaut, the daughter of Antonio and Angeline (Venditti) Muchiarone.
She was employed by Weight Liberation and was the secretary for Ray Roofing for 40 years.
A member of Mother of Sorrows Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, the Cleveland Indians and her family.
Survivors include a daughter, LuAnn Izzi of Ashtabula; three sons: Bob and Ken of Ashtabula, and Gary of Geneva; grandchildren: Debi Stranman, Kris Paolillo, Ken II, Mark, Makensie, and Marisa Ray, and Alex and Sam Izzi; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; a brother, Fiory Muchiarone; and two sisters: Alvera Arcaro and Jean Perkoski.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Mother of Sorrows Church, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
Harold "Casey" Johnson
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - Harold "Casey" Johnson, 80, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Park Haven Nursing Facility, where he was a patient for eight days.
The son of Elmer and Bernice (Farr) Johnson, he was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Ashtabula.
He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1938.
Serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he was station in the South Pacific.
He sailed the Great Lakes for five years for the Cleveland Cliffs Steamship Co. In 1981, he retired from the Illuminating Co., after 35 years of service.
He was a member of East Side Presbyterian Church, BPO Elks 208 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 943.
During his retirement he enjoyed golfing and traveling. The last 18 years, he spent winters at Jekyll Island, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Leona (Broski), whom he married Aug. 23, 1947; two sons: Scott of Ashtabula and Dr. Bruce of Yardley, Pa.; a grandson, Kevin; three step-grandchildren: Dr. Meredith, Dr. Ryan and Ross McCormack; a sister, Gerry Wilkes of Vermillion; and a brother, Leslie of Marysville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is Saturday at noon in Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. S. Shane Nanney of East Side Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Callings hours are 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Gregory Colucci
ASHTABULA - Gregory Colucci, 37, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born in Ashtabula April 24, 1963, he was the son of Dominic and Anna (Acierno) Colucci.
He was a graduate of St. John High School and Kent State University.
A licensed nursing home administrator, he was employed by the Lake Erie Correctional Institute in its pre-release program.
Survivors include his mother of Ashtabula; a daughter, Maryssa; a son, Aaron Smith; five sisters, Cheryl Chapman and Donna of Ashtabula, Cindy Schneiderhan of Deltona, Fla., and Jill and Kim of Phoenix, Ariz.; and his fiancé Kim Dibell.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Service is 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady Mount Carmel Church, with burial to take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Guerriero Funeral Home.
