Gaynell B. Summers
ASHTABULA - Gaynell "Nell" B. Summers, 86, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at the Country Club Retirement Home.
Born Nov. 21, 1913 in Raven, Va., she was the daughter of Bertha B. (Wyatt) and Lafayette Elswick. Mrs. Summers was an Ashtabula resident most of her life, moving back in 1997 after living in W. Palm Beach, Fla. for 30 years.
She worked as a cashier at Goodwill Stores and as a secretary at Weatherite Manufacturing. She belonged to Bethel Assemblies of God in W. Palm Beach, and Ashtabula First Assembly of God, where she was a member of the women's Missionary Council. She was the president of the Ashtabula Physically Handicapped Club for four years. She enjoyed her flower garden, particularly orchids, and helping her husband in his flea market business. Although she had polio at an early age, she was an inspiration to those around her.
She is survived by her step-daughter, Myrna Bush of W. Palm Beach, Fla.; step-son Dan Summers of Ashtabula; brother Clarence Elswick of Richland, Va.; several nieces and a nephew; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Leslie; second husband, Thomas Summers; step-son Kenneth Summers; four sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren.
Services will be a 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison. The Rev. Mike Legg of the Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery, Perry.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Marino Anthony Domizi
ASHTABULA - Marino Anthony Domizi, 92, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000 at Country Club Retirement Center.
Born Nov. 21, 1907 in Macerata, Italy, he was the son of Enricco and Palmina (Serine) Domizi.
For over 40 years, he was the owner/operator of Domizi Art Tile Company. Mr. Domizi was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Brick Layers, Masons, and Plasterers Union, He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and golfing.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Capitena Domizi; daughter Rita Gillen of Ashtabula; two sons, Thomas H. Domizi of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Robert R. Domizi of Highland Hts.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Fiori; and sister Sunda Canzonetta.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

William T. Hodgkinson Sr.
ASHTABULA - William T. Hodgkinson Sr., 69, of West 48th Street, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 5, 1934, in Ashtabula, the son of William A. and Bernice (Walton) Hodgkinson and had been an area resident most of his life.
Prior to his retirement, he worked more than 20 years as a welder for CEI.
A Marine veteran, he served in the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, baseball, playing with his grandchildren and a good cup of coffee.
His survivors include his wife, Shirley (Sutton); three children, Rhonda Manniko of Conneaut, Valerie Kennedy of Lady Lake, Fla. and William Thomas Jr. of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Heather, Adrianna, Kimberly, Kayla, Tabitha and Nicole; three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Walter, Edgar and Dale, all of Ashtabula and Roy of Pineville, Mo. and Timothy of Pierpont; three sisters, Margaret Drum of Port Bolivar, Texas, Gale Hodgkinson of Ashtabula and Joyce Bogar of Conneaut.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John, Ronald and David in infancy, Willard and Paul; and one stepbrother, Frederick.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, at Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect, Ashtabula, with Elder Bill Daywalt of Prospect Presbyterian Church officiating. No calling hours will be observed. Memorials may be made to the family.

Kathryne Bailey
ASHTABULA - Kathryne Bailey, 69, of Gordon Road, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born May 21, 1933 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Mac and Eleanor (Ruggles) McGarvey.
A lifelong resident, she was a housewife most of her adult life and was described as the "rock" of the family. She married Harry Ed Bailey January 21, 1956.
Mrs. Bailey volunteered at the Senior Center, was a member of the Swinging Seniors choral group and was a member of the Miniature Dollhouse Club. She was an avid reader, loved NASCAR and the Browns, but most of all, she loved her family.
She is survived by four children, Karen Ensell, Bonnie Downie and Roger Watson of Ashtabula and Patrick Watson of Kent; three sisters, Barbara Church of Indianapolis, Ind., Marilynne Frazier of Chicago, Ill. and Patrick VanDyne of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren, Christopher Bailey, Allyson Clark, Cheri Kerns, Jennifer Ray, Joseph III, Matthew and Kay Lynne Downie; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Harry, July 29, 1990.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Jennie M. Dello
ASHTABULA - Jennie M. Dello, 91, of Ashtabula, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at the home of her daughter.
She was born Sept. 4, 1911, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Stephen and Marie (Longabardo) DeGennaro.
Mrs. Dello was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
She enjoyed cooking, eating out and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, June Pugliese of Ashtabula; a son, Cos Dello of Phoenix; two grandchildren, Frank Pugliese Jr. and Debbie Protopapa; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvadore; a granddaughter, Tammy A. Pugliese; three sisters, Anna Candela, Florence Tunis, and Louise Colucci; and two brothers, Frank and Steve.
Services is 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Ashtabula.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
There will be no calling hours, honoring the request of Mrs. Dello. Friends and relatives are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Dello's name to the Hospice of Ashtabula.
Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula, is handling arrangements.

Thomas A. Kangas
ASHTABULA - Thomas A. Kangas, 61, of Ashtabula, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at his home.
He was born Dec. 5, 1940, in Ashtabula, the son of Niles and Norma (Prisco) Kangas.
He was a graduate of Ashtabula High School, and served with the Army in Korea.
He worked 10 years at the former Hills Department Store.
Survivors include a sister, Carol Fitzgerald of West Covina, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
There will be no calling hours.

Alberto Rossi
ASHTABULA - Alberto Rossi, 79, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at his home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Forli Del Sannio, Italy, the son of Pasqua Rosa.
He served as a medic in the Italian army during World War II.
He married the former Ida Ferrando on March 22, 1943.
He worked for the Ashtabula Reclamation Plant and at Ashtabula Rubber Co.
He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bocci and traveling.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Carl of Redondo Beach, Calif.; daughters Marisa Ashley of Ashtabula, and Teresa Reeder of Webb City, Mo.; grandchildren Donald, Carl, Fred, Ida, Paul and Tori; and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Adelmo, in infancy; and a brother, Vincent.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 Columbus Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. Michael Balash will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

Louis J. Simon
ASHTABULA - Louis J. Simon, 79, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in the intensive care unit at Ashtabula County Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Ashtabula, the son of Ann (Nassieff) and Mose (Abi-Aoun) Simon, and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1941 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he served with the Army during World War II, and received the Purple Heart. He remained active with the Army Reserves until retirement as a first sergeant in 1982.
He married the former Madeline Culver on Feb. 13, 1947.
He was self-employed for 41 years as owner and operator of Veterans Painting and Cleaning Co. Before that, he worked for the Pittsburgh Steamship Co.
He was a member of the Mother of Sorrows Church, where he served as an usher. He and his wife were foster parents with the Catholic Service League to more than 60 infants.
He was a lifetime member of Ashtabula B.P.O. Elks No. 208, where he served as Past Exulted Ruler; and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 943. He was a fourth-degree Knight with the Ashtabula Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; sons Raymond of Oceanside, Calif., and Paul of North Kingsville; daughters Carolyn Moore of Ashtabula, and Charmley O'Reilly of Rochester Hills, Mich.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Mae Simon of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons Thomas and John, in infancy; brothers Joseph, George and Sam; sisters Martha Schlieper and Margaret Nappi; and grandson Mark Moore.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 W. 6th St., Ashtabula. The Rev. Philip Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Zaback-CzupFuneral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Ashtabula B.P.O. Elks No. 208 will conduct a memorial service at 7:45 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SS. John and Paul High School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
