Stella E. Pickel
ASHTABULA - Stella E. Pickel, 86, of Park Avenue, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Park Haven Home. She was a resident there for the past six years.
She was born Nov. 3, 1915, in Capels, W. Va., to Joseph and Rose (Siska) Kovack. She had been an Ashtabula resident since 1985. She previously lived in Newark, Del.
Mrs. Pickel was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She was survived by nephew Frank Vegh of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by husband Jesse; brothers Joseph Jr. and John; sisters Rose, Anna and Mary; step-father Paul Sike; and her parents.
Service is noon Tuesday at the Douglas Mortuary, 157 Wyoming St., Welch, W.Va. Burial will be in Grandview Memory Gardens, Bluefield, Tazewell County, Va.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, handled local arrangements.
Albert J. Guerini
ASHTABULA - Albert J. Guerini, 75, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at the Hospice unit at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Ashtabula, the son of Albert and Lempi (Rinta) Guerini.
A graduate of Ashtabula High School, he served in the Army during World War II. He earned the Eame Ribbon with two bronze stars, the Good Conduct medal, Bronze Star Citation medal, Victory Medal of World War II and the Army Occupational Medal of Germany.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the East Ashtabula Club and the Young Men's Social Club. He enjoyed bowling, golf, reading, the Cleveland Indians and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of more than 53 years, the former Anne St. Angelo; a son, Allen Guerini of Ashtabula; a daughter, Aulie Valentic of Ashtabula; grandchildren R.J. Valentic, Michael Valentic, Angela Guerini, Alison Guerini and Ashley Guerini; and a brother, Robert Guerini of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Michael and Ted; and a sister, Carmel Guerini.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Ashtabula. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W.19th St., Ashtabula.

Michael G. Urban
ASHTABULA - Michael G. Urban, 89, of West 13th Street, Ashtabula, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at the Carington Park Nursing Home.
He was born April 5, 1912, in Cleveland, the son of Gaspar and Emilia (Mason) Urban.
He attended Jefferson schools, and worked in the maintenance department at the Illuminating Company for 42 years, retiring in 1973.
He married the former Mildred Carlson on Sept. 2, 1935.
He was an active member of the East Congregation of Jehovah's Witness, and was a past presiding overseer of that congregation for 17 years. He also had been a past City Overseer.
An excellent welder, he enjoyed doing home maintenance, fixing cars, traveling, reading and teaching the Bible.
Survivors include a son, John of Ashtabula; a brother, Joseph of Valley City; and a sister, Agnes Repasky of Hayward, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, in August 1997; and two sisters, Josephine Sholtis and Emilia Repasky.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the East Congregation of Jehovah's Witness, 5614 Poplar Ave., Ashtabula, with Donald G. Mack officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the East Congregation of Jehovah's Witness. Envelopes will be available at the Kingdom Hall.

Raymond Francis Curtin Jr.
ASHTABULA - Raymond Francis Curtin Jr., 64, of West 40th Street died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at his home.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Herman D. Blankenship Jr.
ASHTABULA Herman D. Blankenship Jr., 27, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001.
He was born Aug. 24, 1973, in Cleveland, the son of Virginia "Tina" Blankenship and the late Herman D. Blankenship Sr.
Mr. Blankenship moved to Ashtabula from Cleveland three years ago.
Survivors include his mother and a sister, Tina Blankenship.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at Broadway Christian Church, 5920 Engle Ave., Cleveland. Interment will be in Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. today until the service.

Josephine Theresa Dispenza
ASHTABULA - Josephine Theresa Dispenza, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born in Ashtabula, she was a daughter of Ralph and Felicia (Alberts) Buccier.
A graduate of West High School, Cleveland, she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church as well as its Altar and Rosary societies and had a special devotion to St. Theresa.
For several years, she worked in the credit department of Carlisle's department store.
She enjoyed going to the Chalk Box for the exercise programs.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Sr.; two sons: Albert Jr. of Bay Village and Roger of Lee's Summit, Mo.; two grandchildren: Marie Terese and Aaron James Dispenza; and a sister, Carmelita Corbissero of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Roger and Steve Buccier; and a sister, Antoinette Foccerato.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, West 21st Street, Ashtabula. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Saybrook Township.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
James "Bud" Beranek
ASHTABULA - James "Bud" Beranek, 82, of Seven Hills Road, died Saturday, August 9, 2003, at the Louis Stokes Veterans Hospital, Brecksville Campus.
He was born on October 27, 1920, in Cleveland, the son of Otto and Nettie (Benes) Beranek and had been an Ashtabula resident for the past 30 years.
Prior to his retirement, he drove truck for the Teamsters Union for many years. He was a member of the Teamsters, American Legion, Army-Navy Union, V.F.W. Post #943, and was a life member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served during World War II as a tail gunner and was a POW.
His survivors include two sons, Robert and Richard, both of Cleveland; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Barbara Parson of Sheffield Lake, Martha Issa Pishnery of Twinsburg, and Dorothy Tvergyak of Burton; and his companion of 20 years, Marilyn Rebera of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Beranek; one sister, Frances Hegadus; one brother, Donald; and his parents.
A Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2003, at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Reverend Kenneth Roberts, Pastor of Pentecostal Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, where Ashtabula County United War Veterans will conduct full military honors.
Calling Hour will be from 12 noon until the time of service on Thursday, August 14, 2003, at the funeral home.
