Paul E. Mescall
ASHTABULA - Paul E. Mescall, 86, Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at his home following a short illness.
He was born July 8, 1915, in Montville Township, the son of Edmund and Elva (Sickles) Mescall.
He was a 1933 Bloomfield High School graduate.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II. While in the service he received the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.
He worked for 40 years for the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. until his retirement in 1980.
He was a member of the Ashtabula Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 943 and the Ashtabula Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks No. 208.
He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, gardening and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Julia (Wojcik) whom he married on Sept. 21, 1946; a daughter, Linda K. Nappi of Ashtabula; and two grandsons, Michael A. Nappi of Ashtabula and Timothy A. Nappi of Covington, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold.
Service is 2 p.m. Monday at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Stephen Long officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Genevieve E. Dunham
ASHTABULA - Genevieve E. Dunham, 83, of North Ridge East, Ashtabula, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, while visiting his daughter.
She was born April 30, 1918, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Harry C. and Minnie (Wasson) Kellogg, and had been a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1936 graduate of Edgewood High School. During World War II, she worked for Ward Products. After spending a few years as a homemaker, she was employed at Buckeye Local Schools until retirement in 1980.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, crochet and baking.
Survivors include a son, Thomas of Ashtabula; two daughters, Lois Snyder of Powell, and Sally Featherston of Dallas, N.C.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman of Burton; and a sister, Evelyn Brown of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William, in 1995; and four brothers, Jay, Harold, Wesley and Keith.
Service is 2 p.m. Friday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Shane Nanney, of the East Side Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Garden in North Kingsville.
Calling hour at the funeral home is 1 p.m. Friday until time of service.

Alvin L. Koschik Jr.
ASHTABULA - Alvin L. Koschik Jr., 71, of East 42nd Street, Ashtabula, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at the Mountain Side Hospital in Montclair, N.J.
He was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Erie, the son of Alvin L. and Catherine R. (Conroy) Koschik Sr., and had been an Ashtabula resident the past 41 years.
He attended the Berklee School of Music for four years, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He was employed with Plasticolors Inc., in Ashtabula as a materials manager until his retirement.
He married the former Janet Reiger on Nov. 22, 1952.
He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Ashtabula, the Ashtabula Kiwanis Club and the Ashtabula Organ Club. He enjoyed taking photographs of his grandchildren, reading, working on his computer and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David of Montclair, N.J., and John of Wickliffe; a daughter, Catherine of Dallas; five grandchildren, Caroline, Eleanor, Abigail, Erin and Laura Koschik; and a sister, Betty Meyer of Sarasota, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Elizabeth Eaton will officiate. Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery.

Dolores N. Landolfi
ASHTABULA - Dolores N. Landolfi, 74, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Hillcrest Hospital, Mayfield.
She was born June 7, 1927, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Francis and Bridget (Monda) Guerriero.
Mrs. Landolfi was a graduate of Ashtabula High School.
She was a cafeteria worker for the Ashtabula Area Schools for 20 years.
Mrs. Landolfi was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the Altar and Rosary Society of the church, Catholic Daughters of America; and the Anita Garibaldi Lodge of Ashtabula.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph of Ashtabula and Nicholas of Menlo Park, Calif.; two daughters, Barbara Landolfi of Columbus and Patty Luoma of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Andrew and Allison Luoma and Nicholas and Michael Landolfi; a brother, Edward Guerriero of Dayton a sister, Joanne Liebenauer of Chesterland; and step-sisters Angela Fish and Eleanor Scharlach of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas, in 1998; her parents; her stepmother, Molly; two brothers, Peter and Frank Guerriero; and a step-sister, Marie Prisco.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, East 21st Street, Ashtabula. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula. The ladies of the Anita Garibaldi Lodge will meet at 7 p.m. for services.
Helen L. Platz
ASHTABULA - Helen L. Platz, 82, of West 48th Street died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Dec. 3, 1918 in Frostburg, Md., the daughter of Edward and Rella (Durst) Fazenbaker.
Mrs. Platz had been an Ashtabula resident for the past 50 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Roller Reinforced Plastics.
She was an active member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and, more recently, the Fellowship Bible Church. She loved her family and was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include a daughter, the Rev. Shirley Stoops-Frantz of Bristolville; two sons, Ronald Winters of Ashtabula and Dale Platz of Pierpont; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; grandson, Wayne Lee Stoops; a granddaughter, Rhonda Winters; five sisters; six brothers.
Service is 10 a.m. Monday at the family gravesite in Ridgeview Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Silvieus of Fellowship Bible Church will officiate.
No calling hours will be observed.

Joseph J. Danowski
ASHTABULA - Joseph J. Danowski, Sr., 88, of Ashtabula, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at his home.6_14_Danowski_eps
Born October 10, 1914, in Connorville, the son of Julia (Nosal) and Walter Danowski. Mr. Danowski married the late Marian (Harris) Danowski in Steubenville, OH in March of 1957. He was a retired coalminer and had also worked as a Volunteer Fireman.
He had been an Ashtabula resident since September of 1999, moving from Madison and Trumbull, where he lived for 24 years. Prior to that he had lived in Steubenville. He was a member of Here's Hope Baptist Church in Madison and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, and electrical work. He was also a beloved Indian's fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Roxanna (Russ) Giba of Ashtabula and Marian King of Geneva; three sons, Joseph (Kathy) Danowski of Phoenix, AZ, Jerry (Jackie Verosko) Danowski of Painesville, and Paul (Lisa) Danowski of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Renee Wells, Joshua King, Torren, Kayleigh, Casey and Sophie Danowski; one great-grandchild, Desiray Wells; two sisters, Sophie Koutsky of Dillonville, OH and Ann Lakomy of Detroit, MI; and a brother, Paul Danowski of Silver Springs, MD.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Danowski, in 1991; an infant son; his mother, Julia Danowski; and his father, Walter Danowski.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 16, at Here's Hope Baptist Church, 6601 Chapel Rd., Madison. Pastor Bob Higgins of the Here's Hope Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Madison.

Stella Walker
ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP - Stella Walker, 83, a resident of Ashtabula Township, died at her home Thursday, June 12, 2003.
Born May 31, 1920 in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Michael and Julia (Muchnyk) Levchuck.
She was formerly employed by Reliance Electric.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Walker of Ashtabula; two sons, Nicholas and Edward Walker of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Ann Michele Durain, Nicole Stenger, Karen Walker, John Walker, and Katherine Radwansky; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Semancho of Parma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Nicholas Burchak; son, John Michael; great-granddaughter, Noel Durain; brother, John Levchuck; and sisters, Mary Andrego and Ann Levchuck.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 16, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with burial to take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula on Sunday, June 15, from 5 to 8 p.m.
