Jacqueline Rapose
ASHTABULA - Jacqueline "Jackie" Rapose, 70, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
A lifelong Ashtabula resident, she was born Nov. 1, 1929, the daughter of john and Marnie (Pohto) Cook.
She is survived by her husband Anthony; two sons, Anthony Jr., and Charles of Ashtabula; four daughters, Diana Izzi of Kingsville, Jeanine Kunkle of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, Jacqueline Gatto of Cincinnati, and Jennifer Rapose of Ashtabula; a sister, Lorraine Lillvis of Ashtabula; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son Mark; brother Harley and Dean; sisters, Genevieve Jensen, Jean Uitto, and Colleen Candela.
Services will be noon Tuesday at Potti Lakeside Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. David Hofer of Bethany Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
Delmar Blankenship
ASHTABULA - Delmar Blankenship, 65, of Joseph Avenue, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 13, 1937, in McDowell, Ky., the son of Gobal and Virgie (Gayheart) Blankenship.
He worked at Koski Construction Co.
Mr. Blankenship enjoyed visiting Markko Vineyard in Conneaut, playing the lottery, working on cars, sailing the Great Lakes and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Glennin "Dale" Tackett of Ashtabula; three daughters, Janice Nesbitt of Jefferson and Debbie Chaplin and Cheryl Blankenship, both of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Mull of Florida.
Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hargis Blankenship; and four sisters, Marsela Hatfield, Sally Benton, Zola Blankenship and Vivian Murphy.
There will be no funeral service or calling hours at Mr. Blankenship's request.
The Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, is handling arrangements.
Bonnie M. Bernardo
ASHTABULA - Bonnie Murphy Bernardo, 81, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Glen Alum, W.Va., the daughter of Lon and Sally (Stotridge) Murphy.
She moved to Ashtabula in 1949, and had been a resident ever since.
On Dec. 14, 1946, she married Anthony Bernardo.
She was a member of East Side Presbyterian Church, the Rebecca Lodge, the Grange, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Bernardo enjoyed golf, refinishing furniture, and collectibles and antiques.
Survivors include her brothers, Brack of Bridgeport, Conn., Lon Jr., of Columbus, and Eugene of Ashtabula; and a sister, Etta Pack of Meador, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Dec. 29, 1979; her brothers, Lee, Franklin, Walter, and Jess Murphy; and her sisters, Sadie, Rudy Donley, Ann Dowler, Hazel Croaff, Ollie Ratcliffe, and Nettie Hatfield.
Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. S. Shane Naney officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to East Side Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Frances E. Sayre
ASHTABULA Frances E. Sayre, 72, of Norman Avenue, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at her home following a long illness.
She was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Gile, Wisc., the daughter of Juho Emil and Lillie (Campy) Wilpula.
An area resident most of her life, Mrs. Sayre graduated from Harbor High School in 1948 and received her nursing degree from Cook County School of Nursing in Chicago. She was a nurse in the Ashtabula County area, working at Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Broadway Nursing Home, Geneva, and various other places in the area.
Mrs. Sayre enjoyed nursing and spending time with her family. She was a member of First Christian Church of Ashtabula.
Survivors include her husband, Charles, whom she married May 18, 1963; three daughters, Julie Senita of Ashtabula, Lisa Birchall of Mentor and Ann Péan of West Hartford, Conn.; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Sidney, Samantha, Kevin, Sabrina and Alex; and a sister, Lorraine Licate of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Shibly Talamas; her parents; four brothers, John R., Wilbert V., Raymond and Ralph Wilpula; two sisters, Agnes Donoval and Laura, in infancy.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, 6920 Austinburg Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kathleen Evans officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

Stephen Shelott II
ASHTABULA - Stephen J. Shelott II, 72, of West Prospect Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 17, 1929, in New Salem, Pa., the son of Stephen J. and Pearl (Banshak) Shelott, and had lived in Ohio since 1950.
Mr. Shelott served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1946-48, where he was an automotive mechanic specialist.
After an honorable discharge from the service, he worked at Nassief Automotive as a mechanic. He then worked as a carpenter for various construction companies, retiring in 1972.
He belonged to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, enjoyed carpentry, antique cars, and fixing things. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was a member of the Army Navy Garrison, American Legion, United Autoworkers Local 544, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 943, where he was a former chaplain.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Arcaro of Ashtabula, and Kimberly A. Hedrick of Fredricksburg, Va.; five sons, Stephen J. III of Greensboro, Pa., Kevin and Barry of Ashtabula, John of Palmetto, Fla., and Eugene of Jefferson, Pa.; two sisters, Elizabeth Rea of Grove City, Pa. and Delores Annunzi of Loris, S.C.; a brother, Arthur of West Miffilin, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and his ex-wife, Loretta Mae Umble.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Josephine Shelott.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1200 E. 21st St., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Philip Miller of St. Joseph Church officiating. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saybrook Cemetery, Saybrook Township. Military service will be conducted by VFW Post 943, following the committal service.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.

Howard Lucas
ASHTABULA - Howard Smith Lucas, 83, of Fassett Street, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born Oct. 2, 1918, in Oak Hill, W.Va., he was a son of Sam and Bertha (Hornsby) Lucas.
A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Lucas lived in Ashtabula for more than 50 years.
He worked for Union Carbide in 1951 until 1964. He then went to work for the Ashtabula Boy Group Home until his retirement in 1986. He served as an Ashtabula County deputy sheriff for more than 28 years.
He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, spending time with his family and good friend, John Marrison.
He and his wife, Jenetta (Myers), were married for 58 years until her death in 1999.
Mr. Lucas was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Ashtabula.
Survivors include two sons, Howard of Kingsville Township and Roy of Ashtabula; a foster son, Richard Scoville of Ashtabula; four daughters, Nancy Gray, Anita Vance, and Frances Jeffers, all of Ashtabula, and Thelma Ruiz of Riverdale, Ga.; a sister, Evelyn Stegal of Oak Hill, W. Va.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Ralph, who was killed in France during World War II.
Service is 1 p.m. Monday at the Burton Funeral Home Chapel, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with his grandson, the Rev. Ronald Brown Jr., pastor of Eagles View Baptist Church, Rex, Ga., officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes or Parkinson's associations.
