Timothy A. Winters
ASHTABULA – Timothy A. Winters, 46, of Adams Avenue died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born in Painesville January 23, 1965, the son of Charles and Alberta (Beck) Winters.
Tim was a proud graduate of Geneva High School, where he was on the football and wrestling teams. It was his goal to become a state qualifier while on the wrestling team. Tim met and exceeded his goal by winning the State Wrestling Title in 1983. He was so incredibly proud of this accomplishment.
On February 23, 1985 he married Jennifer Green and they would have celebrated twenty-seven years of marriage.
He was always a person to understand how things work and it was with that curiosity he became an expert with computers. Tim was referred to by many people as a “Computer Guru”; he enjoyed creating programs for his personal use and for those companies that he served as a consultant. Blessed with a unique sense of humor, Tim could always be counted on for some wonderful stories when he was with his friends and family. A wonderful, husband, dad, and grandpa he will be missed by those who were privileged to be his friends and family. In keeping with Tim’s wishes, two people have been given the gift of sight by his generous donation.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer; their daughters, Tabitha (Mike) Blevins and Samantha R. Winters; grandchildren, Nicholas Jeske and Gabriella Jeske, Mikey Blevins,III and Timmy Blevins, and Liviana Winters and Anastasia Winters all of Ashtabula; his siblings, Bobby Winters of Stowe, Joyce (Don) Herman of Geneva, John (Barbara) Winters of Valois, NY ,Mike (Sue) Winters of Cuyahoga Falls, James (Rhonda) Winters of Niles, and Brian (Jan) Winters of Jefferson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alberta Winters and his brother Terry Winters.
A funeral service will be held at 5PM on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 ELM AVENUE, ASHTABULA, OHIO, with family and friends officiating.
A calling hour will be observed from 4PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
If desired, contributions in Tim’s name may be made to the family.

Jewel Hanna, Sr.
ASHTABULA - Jewel Hanna, Sr., 67, of W. 40th St., died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born April 12, 1944, in Louisville, Mississippi, he was the son of Russell and Katie M. (Turner) Hannah and had been an Ashtabula resident most of his life.
Prior to his retirement, he worked at the Ashtabula Bow Socket until 1982.
Jewel enjoyed cars, family time, dogs, cards, pool, and gardening.
His survivors include his wife of 51 years, Goldie J. (Nicholson) Hanna; ten children, Jewel Hanna, Jr. of Bowling Green, Lolita Hanna-Nnawuba of South Riding, VA, and Kevin (Anola) Hanna, Terence Hanna, and Cassandra, Brian, and Katie Hanna, all of Ashtabula; Adrian Jones of Minnesota, Stevie Glenn of North Carolina, and Duone Cooper of Ashtabula; two sisters, Ammer Smith and Mammie Herron, both of Cleveland; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grand children.
He was preceded in death by eight siblings, Levert, Emma, Samella, Simpson, Sam Jr., Tammerine, Clifteen, and James Lee Hannah.
Calling hours will be held at the DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula from 11 AM to 12 Noon with a service at 12 Noon on Friday, January 13, 2012. Rev. George B. Lampkin, Pastor of the Greater Promise Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.

Regina A. Skufca
ASHTABULA – Regina Ann Skufca, 88, of Lake Avenue died Friday, January 06, 2012 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born December 7, 1923 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Valagi) Chupick and had been a lifelong area resident.
Proud of her Hungarian heritage and a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish (formerly Our Lady of Mt. Carmel), she dedicated her life to her family. She loved all animals, especially her Boston terrier, Tinker.
A 1942 graduate of Ashtabula High School, she took great pride in her home and helping her husband with the business, Bernie Skufca’s Body Shop.
Her survivors include two sons, Robert F. (Kathy) Skufca of Ashtabula and Daniel B. Skufca of Kentucky and three grandchildren, Jason (Jen) Skufca, Bertie (Ryan) Kenealy, and Hollie Skufca.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard F. Skufca on August 14, 1995; three brothers, John, Joseph, Louis “Lutz”, and Stephen “Pete”; two sisters, Mary and Ann; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held 7 PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula. Deacon Rich Johnson of Our Lady of Peace Parish will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.
Contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, OH 44004.

Melvin Thompson
Melvin Thompson, 42, formerly of Ashtabula died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at his home.
He was born June 15, 1969 in Ashtabula, the son of Icy Lee and Carrie (Shields) Thompson and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident before moving to Warren in October.
A 1987 graduate of Ashtabula High School, his quickness and ball-handling skills allowed him to excel at playing point guard for the Panthers.
A hard worker, he had been employed by Molded Fiberglass for over 20 years and was well thought of in the company.
Melvin was always a strong supporter of the community work his wife did. He loved being a father, had a big heart, and supported whatever the kids wanted to do. He loved to laugh, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed working out and keeping in shape, and was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was also a member of Solomon's Temple COGIC, Cleveland, OH.
His survivors include his wife of 10 years, Kimberly D. (Garrison) Thompson, whom he married June 2, 2001; four children, Shakaria Hunt of Richmond Hts., Jenise Hunt of Ashtabula, and Melvin Thompson, Jr. and Damel Thompson, both of Warren; one grandson, Marvel Jones, Jr.; his parents, Icy and Carrie Thompson of Ashtabula; one brother, James Earl Thompson of Ashtabula; four sisters, Carol, Ruby, and Becky Thompson, all of Ashtabula and Darlene Thompson of Painesville; four god-children, Kenyaisha Johnson, T.C. Franklin, Terrill Thompson, and Ikeem Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his beloved family dog, Scarlett. He was preceded in death by Archie D. and Geraldine Thompson.
A calling hour will be held at Peoples Baptist Church (Rev. German Womack, Pastor), 3837 West Avenue, Ashtabula from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2012 with a service at 11 AM. Pastor Carl Salters of Solomon Temple COGIC will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the family.

George Hobson
SPRINGDALE, Ariz. - George Hobson, 73, formerly of Ashtabula, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at The Village Inc.
He was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Toronto, Canada, and became a U.S. citizen in 1957.
Mr. Hobson worked for A. Louis Supply and Saybrook True Temper before moving to Boston in 1971. He retired back to Ashtabula in 1990 until moving to The Village Inc. a retirement community in Springdale.
He was an active member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Ashtabula until its closing. He was also a member of The Mother Church in Boston, Mass. He was a member of the Industrial Management Club, a line dancing and square dancing instructor, a volunteer at Chestnut Elementary School, Ashtabula Senior Center volunteer and Habitat for Humanity. In Springdale, he was a volunteer mentor for Lee Elementary, a Senior Citizen Volunteer and a part time employee of The Village Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Miller) Hobson of Springdale; a son, Miller J. Hobson of Grande Cache, Albert, Canada; a daughter, Cheryl Lyn (Force) Brown of Ashtabula; a grandson, Brian Gregory Force of Zanesville; three granddaughters, Julie Lyn (Force) Lindermeier of Willoughby, Dusty Rose and Jessi Winter Hobson, both of Riondel, British Columbia, Canada; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
A memorial service will be noon Friday at Willow Arms Community Center, 1800 Willow Arms Drive, Ashtabula.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Village Inc., 17736 Village Road, Springdale, Ark.
Nelson's Funeral Home and Crematory in Fayetteville, Ark., is in charge of arrangements.

Debra Brown
Ashtabula- Debra Brown, 54, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at home with her family by her side.
She was born March 29, 1957 in Covina, California, to the late L.B. and Patsy (Horton) Wooten. She has resided in Ashtabula for many years. She married her husband Patrick on August 6, 1999. Debra was a member at the Conneaut Church of God.
Debra is survived by her husband Patrick; her children, Jim Jones of Champion, Ohio, Luann Allison of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Bobby (Angel) Allison of Bloomfield, Ohio; four step-children, Dylan Brown, Dalton Brown, Ariel Brown and Katylin Kinnear; sisters, Vera Parker of Louisiana, and Nancy Wooten of Texas; brother Bobby Wooten of California; seven grandchildren; and best friend Patty Dean of Champion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Donna Lamuius.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00 am a.t the Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, with Pastors Carson Robson and Raymond Lamb of the Conneaut Church of God officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
Friends may call on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 6-8pm at Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the family.

Richard T. Olive
ASHTABULA - Richard T. Olive, 47, of Fargo Drive died Monday, May 14, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born July 30, 1954, in Ashtabula, he was a lifelong areas resident.
Mr. Olive was an employee of Cicogna Sign, Saybrook Township, for more than 10 years, where he was the welding supervisor.
He enjoyed golf, bowling and softball.
Survivors include his father, Ronald and stepmother Linda Olive; his mother, Reta Westley; three daughters, Rebecca Dalton, Melissa Henton and Deborah Olive, all of Ashtabula; two brothers, Larry of Ficher, Ind., Michael of Horstam, Pa., and a sister, Mary Ellen Teed of Reading, Pa.; two stepsisters, Lisa Mesa of Conneaut and Tina Clutter of Ashtabula; a stepbrother, Ed Spencer of North Carolina; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Robert Olive; and a grandson, Jacob Dalton.
Memorial service is 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Memory Gardens Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts of Revival Center Church, Ashtabula, officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ashtabula Hospice, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.
The Dean Funeral Home, 3137 E. Center St., North Kingsville, has charge of the arrangements.
