Fernando Rodriguez Sr.
ASHTABULA - Fernando Rodriguez, Sr., 68, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, in his home.
Born on Nov. 10, 1931, in Coamo, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Justin and Ines (Melendez) Rodriguez.
He married Maria Peguero on December 28, 1964.
He worked for Losely Nursery until his retirement in 1985. Before that he worked for Sunleaf Nursery and Amfac-Horton Nursery.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Ashtabula.
He enjoyed cooking, hosting pig roasts, gardening and, most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife; his sons, Hector, Fernando and Carlos, all of New Jersey; his daughters, Lydia and Iris, both of New Jersey, Marina Rivera and Carmen, both of Ashtabula; 16 grandchildren; his brothers, Martin and Juan; and his sisters, Carmen, Virginia, Basilisa and Josifina, all of Puerto Rico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Fernando Jr. in 1995; his brothers, Baro, Candido and Rafael; and his sisters, Ines and Ana.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

Thelma E. Wheeler
ASHTABULA - Thelma E. Wheeler, 75, of East Prospect Road, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 15, 1924, she was the daughter of Pete and Hilda (Gochnauer) Anderson. She was a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
She was a 1942 graduate of Ashtabula High School.
She married Gordon Wheeler on May 22, 1943.
She was a homemaker. She and her husband provided a home to many children and traveled extensively throughout the United States.
She enjoyed interior decorating, dancing to country-western music and camping with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Carol Brown of Conneaut; three grandsons, Jeff and Barry Anderson of Conneaut and Mark Anderson of Pittsburgh; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Timothy Anderson; one sister, Lydia Thompson; and her parents.
Service will be 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Ducro Funeral Home and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula. The Rev. Stephen R. Long, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hour will be at the funeral home one hour before the service.

HENRIETTA SHEFFEY
ASHTABULA Henrietta Sheffey, 69, of Dibble Road died Monday, August 11, 2003 at Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
A service will be held 11 A.M. on Monday, August 18, 2003 at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula. The Rev. Neroy Carter, Pastor of Jesus Only Pentecostal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, N. Kingsville.
Calling hours will be held Monday at the funeral home from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
India Diane McKinney
ASHTABULA - India Diane McKinney, 60, of West 33rd Street died Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at her home.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula.
M. Louise Luce
ASHTABULA - Mable Louise Luce, 79, of Perryville Place, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at her home.
Born November 2, 1923, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Ralph E. and Minnie (Johnson) Luce and has lived in the same house her whole life.
She graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1940.
During WWII, she worked at the Ashtabula Fork and Hoe, making bayonets for the war. When soldiers returned from overseas, she gave her job to veterans. She worked at Yoder's Greenhouse in Ashtabula, drove a bus for Ashtabula Area City Schools, and retired from Ashtabula Rubber in 1986 after working for ten years in the laboratory.
Mrs. Luce belonged to the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and helped raise several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and traveling.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Florence Luce of Ashtabula; nephew, Jack Palm of Ashtabula; seven nieces, Jean Hare of Ashtabula, Carole Lee Lengyl of Raytown, MO, Barbara Luce of Kettering, OH, Carol Kovacs of Point Orange, FL, Joyce Morse of Ashtabula, Diane Watson of Kingsville, Betty Rae Farmer of Lansing, MI; and several great nephews and great nieces.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gordon, Raymond, and Harold; one sister, Frances Palm; two nephews, David and Roger Luce; and her parents.
Service will be held Wednesday, June 18, at 1 p.m. at Ducro Funeral Services, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with Rev. David Hockey, Pastor of Free Methodist Church in Conneaut, officiating. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hour will be Wednesday, June 18, from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.

Joan V. Mills
ASHTABULA - Joan Veronica Mills, 67, of Van Winkle Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born July 10, 1935, in Cleveland, the daughter of Joseph and Nellie (Paczkowski) Grysban, and had been an Ashtabula resident for the past 31 years.
Mrs. Mills was a 1953 graduate of Jane Adams High School and worked as a maintenance administrator for Ohio Bell prior to her retirement.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church.
Mrs. Mills enjoyed taking care of her home, sewing and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin J. Mills, whom she married June 10, 1967; two children, Kevin R. Mills of Ashtabula, and Cherie A. Cooper of Estero, Fla.; two brothers, Robert E. Grysban of Ashtabula, and Joseph A. Grysban of Dolan Springs, Ariz.; and one sister, Carole S. Grysban of Los Angeles.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mausoleum Chapel of Greenlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, 3140 E. Center St., North Kingsville, with the Rev. Philip Miller, pastor of St. Joseph Church, officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Anthony M. Nappi
ASHTABULA - Anthony Michael Nappi, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at the Austinburg Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
Born April 12, 1918, in Ashtabula, he was the son of Sebastiano and Lucia (Pandico) Nappi.
A 1936 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he went to work for the former New York Central Reclamation Plant until it closed. He attended Kent State University and received his degree in teaching. Before retiring, he taught in the Geneva and Ashtabula school systems.
Mr. Nappi was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Y.M.S.C. He enjoyed his family and gardening, and gave away all of the vegetables to his family and friends.
Survivors include his two brothers, Joseph C. and Frank S. Nappi, of Ashtabula; and three sisters, Mary Matrisciano, Grace Nappi and Eleanor Godleski, also all of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Louise Nappi and a sister, in infancy.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.

Palestine Newsome
ASHTABULA - Palestine Newsome, 75, of Carpenter Road, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born April 12, 1927, in McDowell, Ky., the daughter of Shelby and Burnette (Hall) Newsom, and lived in Ashtabula most of her life.
She was a member of Lily of the Valley Old Regular Baptist Church for 35 years, and was actively involved in the church in her younger years. She wrote poetry and enjoyed cooking and crafts.
Survivors include her husband, Chester, whom she married Aug. 22, 1942; 10 children, Carlotta Schlick of Dunnellon, Fla., Randy Newsome of Beverly Hills, Fla., Janette Davis of Concord, Roger D., Ron, Fred, Gary Newsome and Sandra David, all of Ashtabula, and twins Carl Newsome, of Cleveland, and Janet McCraken of Geneva; 26 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Roberta Frasure of McDowell, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Ricky W. Newsome, on Oct. 24, 1998, and Michael R. Newsome; and a brother, Paul Newsom.
Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lily of the Valley Old Regular Baptist Church, Route 84 and Kiwanis Park Drive in Geneva. Scott Hamilton, Evan Hamilton, Larry Newsome and Jessie Pack, all of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
