Richard Barnett, age 53, formerly of Norwalk, died unexpectedly Monday, January 12, 2004 at his residence in Brownsburg, IN.
He was born March 14, 1950 in Willard, Ohio. Richard was a 1968 graduate of Norwalk High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Goldwing motorcycles, and was an avid collector of guns. He served in the US Army during Vietnam, and was a life long member of the American Legion.
Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife, Judy Barnett of Brownsburg, IN; daughter, Heather Barnett of Norwalk; step-children, Kelly Matthews of TN, Ian Welsh of TN, Chad (Sheri) Welsh of KY; grandchildren, Neal and Wesley Johnson of Norwalk, Kelsie and Madison Matthews of TN, Jacob Welsh and Brianna Patterson of KY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell (Kathy) Barnett, Roger Lee (Darlene) Barnett, All of Norwalk, Leroy (Pam) Barnett of NV, Arnold (Sara) Huckeby of Cincinnati, Brenda Maynard of MI, Susan (Hershel) Chafin of WVa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella Mae (Fred) Sayre, Anna (Lee) Cox, Barb (Tom) Carleton, Phillis (Dean) Hales, All of Norwalk; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cart and Nola Barnett; brother, Riley Barnett.

Charlotte R. (Triplett) Benson, age 73, of Norwalk, died Friday, February 13, 2004 at her residence in Norwalk, after an extended illness.
She was born January 24, 1931 in Clay County, WV. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Norwalk and a 25 year volunteer at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. She enjoyed visiting nursing homes, sending cards, friends and spending time with her family and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Benson of Norwalk; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl (Rodney) Owens of Grove City, OH and Barbara (Tom) Burger of Norwalk; son and daughter-in-law, Michael (Dawn) Benson of Norwalk; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Vera (David) Rathbone of Congress, OH; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack (Carleen) Triplett of Vero Beach, FL and Gerald (Mary) Triplett of Sommersville, WV; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Fannie (Atkins) Triplett; brothers, James and John Triplett; sister, Reedith Lewis.

Irene E. (Reeves) Bleile, 91, of Norwalk, died Saturday, May 08, 2004 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk following a recent illness.
She was born August 24, 1912 in Ridgeland, SC and moved to Norwalk after marrying Paul E. Bleile in 1929.
Irene was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Firelands Historical Society, Little Flower Study Club, Little Garden Club, The Willowdale Farmwomen’s Club and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a volunteer for the Christie Lane School and the Fisher-Titus Auxiliary. In 1993 the City of Norwalk awarded Irene and husband, Paul, with the Distinguished Americans Award.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Bleile Baltes of Norwalk; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Shirley of Norwalk, Robert and Mary of Sandusky, Thomas and Lorraine of Norwalk, Steve and Jackie of Sarasota, FL. Irene is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Trudy, Betty, Sally and Barbara all of South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Bleile in 1994; parents, Dr. Hubert J. Reeves and Rose (Berg) Reeves Woods; brothers, Hubert, Wilber and Lamar; sisters, Viola, Julia, Louise and Margie; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Gloria H. (Hackathorn) Boes, age 63, of Norwalk, was surrounded by her family in her home as she took her last breath on earth, and her first steps into heaven.
She was born October 18, 1940 in Adrian, MI. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Mary Catholic Church in Norwalk and it’s altar and rosary society, Eucharistic Minister and reader, Renew Small Group, Daughters of Isabella, St. Gerard Study Club and served four terms on the St. Mary Elementary School Board. She also worked at Tenneco Automotive in Milan for 19 years.
She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Gene-o (June) Boes of Seattle, WA, Leo (Wendy) Boes of Sullivan, OH, Gerard Boes of Missoula, MT, and Aaron (Carrie) Boes of Attica, OH; her six daughters, Geralyn (David) Kiser of Houston, TX, Shelli Cannon of Norwalk, OH, Gloria (Bob) Bjurstrom of Seattle, WA, Rosalie (Dennis) Smith of Norwalk, OH, April Boes of Seattle, WA and Juliann Boes of Hawaii; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters, Lee “Cookie” Piriczky of St. Simons Island, GA, Merrianne (Dave Buchanan) Hackathorn of Worthington, OH; brother, Dennis (Stephanie) Hackathorn of Tall Timbers, MD; brother-in-law, John Hepp of Tiffin, OH; sister-in-law, Helen Hackathorn of Norwalk, OH.

Rose Murial (Derby) Bowlin, age 89, of Norwalk, died Monday, January 19, 2004 at Twilight Gardens Nursing Center in Norwalk.
She was born February 1, 1914 in Milan, Ohio. She attended College in St. Paul, Minnesota and moved to Norwalk in 1950. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Norwalk and Queen Esther Chapter #15.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Broughton of Eubank, KY; son, Stewart Bowlin of Norwalk, OH; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. Bowlin in 1985; parents, Kenneth Derby in 1975 and May Derby in 1950; son in infancy, Stephen; brothers, Robert Derby and Judge Donald Derby in 1991.

Dawson Boyd, age 66, of Norwalk, died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after an unexpected illness.
He was born May 21, 1937 in Dana, Kentucky. He worked at Ford Motor Co. for many years as an inspector. He served in the US Air Force from 1955 until 1959.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy A. (Phillips) Boyd of Norwalk; mother, Emma (Hall) Boyd of Frankfort, KY; sons, Noah Lee Boyd of Sullivan, OH, Dawson Boyd Jr. of South Amherst, OH and Charles “Bud” Boyd of Elyria, OH; step-children, Ron and Gary Butler, Okie Conn, Connie Ezell, and Teresa Allgauer; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda Justice and Glema Collins, both of Frankfort, KY; brother, Ray Boyd of Frankfort, KY.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delza Boyd in 1972.

Gerald Brant, age 60, of New London, died Friday, May 07, 2004 at Akron City Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born February 5, 1944 in Sandusky, Ohio. He was a truck driver for Bell Dairy, West Baking, W.L. Mead, Yellow Freight and R & L Trucking. In January 2004 he received the million mile safety award at R & L Trucking, after 10 years of driving. He served in the Army Reserves from 1963 until 1967.
He enjoyed cooking, traveling out West, fishing, collecting guns and was a proficient fast-draw, and spending time with his grandchildren whom he dearly loved.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Hartke) Brant of New London; children and their spouses, Ann-Marie (Alan) Kerr of Bellevue, John (Susie) Brant of Huron, and Scott Brant of Norwalk; Step children, Tina (Cecil) Ochs of Dieterich, IL and Thomas Board of New London; four grandchildren, Corey and Katelyn Henning, Aledia Brant and Madison Brant; step-grandchildren, Justin, Tabitha, Amie and Laura Michels, Lea and Dylan Board; numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan E. (Richards) Balluck, age 75, of Norwalk, died Thursday, January 13, 2005 at Norwalk Memorial Home in Norwalk.
She was born June 17, 1929, in Youngstown to the late Samuel and Frieda (Brobander) Richards.
She received her bachelor's and master's degree in education from Youngstown University and taught elementary school for more than 30 years. She began her teaching career in the Cleveland schools and then taught in the country of Venezuela. Returning to Struthers, she taught both first and second grade at the Fifth Street and Sexton Street schools before retiring. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers.
She is survived by her children, Allison Lynn (Chris) Reagan of Norwalk and Kyle Richard (Leah) Balluck of Burke, Va.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death on Nov. 13, 1991 by her husband, Leonard, whom she married Feb. 3, 1962.

Donald E. Weilnau, age 68, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Main Campus in Sandusky.
He was born March 19, 1936 in Milan, Ohio, and was a 1954 graduate of Milan High School. He served in the US Army as a General’s Honor Guard, and was a lifetime member of the Milan American Legion Post 527.
He retired from the Ohio Turnpike Commission after many years of service. Mr. Weilnau was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching all sporting events. He was a member of the Corvette Club and the Toledo Zoo.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Mark Mankin of Avon, Wendy and Andrew MacDonald of Berlin Heights, and Hope and Timothy Barker of Milan; fiancé, Jeanette Robinson of Norwalk; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson; 1st wife, JoAnn Sexton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Catherine (Kramb) Weilnau.

William "Woodchuck" Howatineck March 21, 1931 - April 10, 2003
William "Woodchuck" Howatineck, age 72, of Norwalk, died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after a brief illness.
He was born March 21, 1931 in Shepherd, MI. He graduated High School in Pittsburgh, PA and served in the US Army as a 1st Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. In 1975 he moved from Bowling Green to Norwalk, where he was employed by GTE for 32 years and retired as Division Traffic Manager.
He enjoyed flying his airplane, golfing, playing cards, hunting, fishing, and family gatherings. He was a member of the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association; American Legion Post 41, Norwalk VFW Post 2743, and St. Paul Catholic Church. As past treasurer of the Norwalk Eagles Aerie #711, he designed and managed the construction of the new Eagles Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Fico) Howatineck, whom he married March 28, 1960; five children, Deborah Howatineck of Delmont, PA, Kimberly Mohr of Norwalk, Bill (Elaine) Howatineck of Cumming, GA, James (Elaine) Howatineck of Sugar Hill, GA, and Cathy (Victor) Johnson of Elyria; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl Young of Mesa, AZ, Edna Yunkun and Irene Stasenko, both of Pittsburgh; brother, Herman Howatineck of Fort Meyers, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna (Cadnic) Howatineck; two sons, Francis Howatineck and one in infancy; brother, Bert Howatineck; two sisters, Grace Jacobs and Kate Horvath.

Lyle W. Barnes
Lyle W. Barnes, 78, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at his daughter's home in Naples, Florida, after a long illness.
Lyle was born May 24, 1924 in Wellington, Ohio to William Cyrus and Cora (Hahn) Barnes. After graduation from Norwalk High School in 1942, he served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. After The War, Lyle attended Yale University and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Arts.
He taught Industrial Arts at Mount Vernon (Ohio) High School from 1948 to 1951. Lyle married the late Jean McDonald Barnes on December 24, 1948. Lyle was one of the original brother partners of Barnes Roses (now Barnes Garden Center) in Huron, Ohio. Lyle worked as: a Cutter Grinder at the Sandusky New Departure Plant; a carpenter and cabinet maker; a supervisor at Norwalk's Saginaw Wire Plant; a Warehouse Superintendent for Chapin & Chapin, Inc.; and he taught Carpentry at Ehove Vocational School until his retirement.
Lyle lived at 19 Welton in Norwalk most of his life, until illness dictated a move to Florida to live with his daughter Karen. Lyle was a member of the First Methodist Church in Norwalk, the Mount Vernon Chapter of the Masonic Lodge, and the Norwalk Post of the VFW.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Barnes) and Gary Conley of Naples, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Trish Barnes of Wyoming, OH; two grandchildren, James (& Moriah) Barnes of Lebanon, OH; Paige Allison Barnes of Wyoming, OH; two brothers, Willard Barnes of Penney Farms, FL and G.L. Barnes of Marion, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Anne (McDonald) Barnes; his parents and two brothers, Donald Barnes and Harold Barnes.

Kolman Kosa, age 74, of North Fairfield, died July 30, 2003 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
He was born at home, July 23, 1929 in Mansfield, Ohio. He was raised in the Mansfield and Cleveland, Ohio area. He lived in New London during the 1970's and later moved to North Fairfield, Ohio. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Norwalk, and served in the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. (Goldbach) Kosa of North Fairfield; sons and daughter-in-law, Kerry (Deborah) Kosa of Wellington and Kris Kosa of Fairfield Township; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Alexander Kosa Jr. of Valley City, OH; sister, Helen Fekete of Plainfield, IND; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Kosa Sr. and Barbara (Skorvan) Kosa.

Edith May (Arnold) Rew
Edith May (Arnold) Rew, age 83, of Norwalk, died Friday, September 26, 2003 at Norwalk Memorial Home in Norwalk.
She was born December 6, 1919 in Collins, Ohio. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Norwalk and the Daughters of the American Revolution, Sally De Forest Chapter. She worked at Norwalk Memorial Home for 13 years, and enjoyed being a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, E. Elaine (Gordon) Micoff of Melvin, MI, Shirley (Wally) Beil of Sandusky, Charlynne (Jim) Busek of Norwalk, Londa (Hugo) Rosado of Mansfield, sons; Harold “Bing” (Suzanne) Rew of Monroeville and Richard E. Rew of Norwalk; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Eva Sheridan of Mansfield, and Janette Ray of Greenwich; brother, Alfred Arnold of Denver, CO.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rew; daughter, Leona Rew; son, Alfred Rew; parents, Alfred and Nellie (Baker) Arnold; sister, Cecelia More; brother, Lory Arnold.

Thomas F. Thornton Jr.
Thomas F. Thornton Jr., age 87, died late Sunday, September 21, 2003 at his residence in Taylor, Michigan.
He was born February 12, 1916 in Lansing, MI. He lived in Beaver Falls, PA, where he graduated high school and lived for many years. He assisted his family in collecting antiques many years for Mary Thornton Antiques in Milan, Ohio, and enjoyed an early career at Fox Film Company in Detroit, MI. He retired as a maintenance worker for Greenfield Village in Michigan after 30 years. He was an avid collector of records and films, in which he entertained family and friends over the years.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Cunningham of Bellevue; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. Thornton Sr. and Mary R. (Rowland) Thornton.
