Angeline A. Frabutt
ASHTABULA - Angeline Ann Frabutt, 72, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at Carington Park Nursing Home.
Born April 13, 1929, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Mongillo) Licate.
A graduate of Ashtabula High School, she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
She enjoyed cooking and her family.
Survivors include her husband. Marino; a son, James of Greensboro, N.C.; three daughters, Marilyn Davies and Janet Kelly of Ashtabula, Carol Washburn of North Kingsville; three brothers, James and Frank Licate of Ashtabula, and Louis Licate of Jefferson; three sisters, Josephine Presciano and Celia Rich of Ashtabula and Carmel Loveridge of El Paso, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Michelle and Michael Davies, Ann and Ashley Washburn, Kristen and Lori Kelly, and Matthew Frabutt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twins brothers Thomas and Paul as well as brothers, William, Bernard and Angelo.
Services is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, East 21st Street, Ashtabula. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Saybrook Township.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.

Joseph R. Richey
ASHTABULA - Joseph R. Richey, 89, of Ashtabula, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at the Country Club Retirement Center.
Born July 12, 1912 in Ashtabula, he was the son of Pasquale and Felicia (Penna) Rich.
A graduate of Ashtabula High School, he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, and Knights of Columbus. Prior to his retirement, he was a conductor for Conrail.
He enjoyed gardening and his family.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Amelia (Muto); a son, Patsy; four brothers, John Rich of Sheffield, Jay Rich of Conneaut, Pasco and Henry Rich of Ashtabula; four sisters, Mary Santianna, Margaret Pritchett, Rose Burgard and Florence Laird, all of Ashtabula; three grandchildren, Suzanne Viall, JoAnne Surbella and Joseph Richey; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Anthony and James; and a sister, Susie Ferrando.
Services is 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, East 21st Street, Ashtabula. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Saybrook Township
Calling hour is from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.

Lillie Magnolia Crockett
ASHTABULA – Lillie Magnolia Crockett, known to most as “Big Mama,” 83, of Michigan Avenue died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center Hospice Unit.
She was born September 4, 1925 in Ivanhoe, VA, the daughter of Ellis and Edna (Gilliam) White and had been an area resident for more than fifty years.
A member of Hiawatha Church of God in Christ, she served on the Mother’s Board and was a member of the Bible Band. She loved to cook, especially when it came to making sweet potato pie, and she was employed as a cook at Ashtabula General Hospital for many years.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Crockett of CA, Timothy Crockett of VA, and Alfred and Robert Crockett, both of Ashtabula; 11 grandchildren, Terrence (LaDon) Chapman, Kimberly (Robert) Rivera, LaCebian (Chyvon) Crockett, Kevin (Kristie) Crockett, Keyonna Wells-Crockett, and Kendis, Kurtis, Kayla, Devon, Mariah, and Jessica Crockett; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Josephine Brown, Martha Murrell, Edna Venita Cox, Dorothy White, Alma Novella White, Ann Velma White, Mary Alice White, and Gwendolyn White, all of VA.; and her brother, Alfred (Marie) White of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Chapman; son, Ellis Crockett; sister, Mary Jane Bragg; three brothers, James White and two in infancy; and her parents.
A service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Hiawatha Church of God in Christ, 3417 Hiawatha Avenue, Ashtabula with Superintendent David Howard, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held at the church from 10 AM until the time of service on Tuesday.
Contributions may be made to the family in care of Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula who is in charge of arrangements.
Esther N. Kahle
ASHTABULA Esther N. Kahle, 92, formerly of Amelia Avenue, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Park Haven Home.
She was born May 2, 1908, in Austin, Pa., the daughter of Emil and Elise (Kramer) Kahle and had been an Ashtabula resident most of her life.
Miss Kahle was a 1926 graduate of Ashtabula High School. She attended the Oberlin Kindergarten Primary Training School. She received her bachelor's degree from Teacher's College, Columbia University and her master's degree in administration from Case Western Reserve University.
She taught in the Ashtabula and Euclid Public Schools and was principal of Lincoln Elementary School. In 1964, she retired after 36 years of service.
Miss Kahle was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and served as secretary and vice president of the Alpha Chapter in Cleveland.
She was a member of AAUW and officer of the Euclid Branch, president of the Association of Childhood Education of Greater Cleveland and vice president and president of the Ohio Association of Childhood Education. She was a life member of National Education Association and was given an honorary life-membership in the Ohio Parent Teacher Association.
Miss Kahle was active in many educational organizations including Elementary Principals and Ohio Education Association. She is listed in the fourth edition of Who's Who Among American Women.
She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a deaconess and officer of the Women's Association. She had served as an elder and on the Board of Trustees of the Presbytery of the Western Reserve. She represented the church on the Board of the Smith Home for five years.
Miss Kahle had been an avid golfer and member of the Ashtabula Country Club for 51 years. She was the author of the Club's history and a past president of the Country Club Women's Association.
She was an honorary member of the Tourists and their past president; she was a member and officer of the Garden Study Club.
Miss Kahle traveled extensively to six continents and visited 76 countries, including a trip around the world. She showed slides of her travels to many groups. Videos of her trips to China, the South Pacific and Africa are catalogued at the Harbor-Topky Library.
Survivors include a brother, Francis K. Kahle of Seattle, Wash., and two nieces, Carol Friedel of Easton, Md., and Francoise E. Kahle of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel K. Kane and her parents.
A private family service was held at Ridgeview Cemetery.

Charles W. Dufour
ASHTABULA - Charles W. Dufour, 61, of Ogden Avenue, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born Sept. 29, 1939, in Oak Hill, W.Va., he was the son of George and Jenny (McCormick) Dufour and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1956.
He married Doris M. Neff on April 2, 1970.
Mr. Dufour owned and operated Sandor Siding Co., with his brother, Frank.
He was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was an avid sports fan and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Charles W. of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Michael and Scott of Ashtabula; two daughters, Donna Parco and Amanda Dufour of Ashtabula; six grandchildren, Ryan, Keith. Christina, Michael Jr., Elizabeth and Jenna; seven brothers, George of Kingsville Township, Frank, Richard "Joe, " and Danny, all of Ashtabula, and Donald "Jack", Harold and James, all of West Virginia; and two sisters, Evelyn Birchfield of Fort Lauderdale, Fla, and Emma Sturgill of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John, and his parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at the Ducro Funeral Home, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Richard L. Foster of Pentecostal Holiness Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Andrew C. Turley
ASHTABULA - Andrew C. Turley, 26, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, in St. Louis, Mo.
Born June 27, 1974, he was the son of June Borner of Ashtabula and Andrew C. Turley Sr., of Chesapeake, Va.
Mr. Turley was a truck driver for the ABC Trucking Co. in St. Louis.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, football and baseball.
Survivors include his parents; one son, Andrew C. III of St. Louis; two daughters: Ashley and Alexis of St. Louis; brother, Ronald of Virginia Beach, Va.; and one sister, Melissa of Chesapeake, Va.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald Turley and Evelyn Foose; and his maternal grandparents, Donald and Claretle Borner.
Services will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Connie Pelton of Freedom Worship Center officiating.
Calling hours will be 5 p.m. to the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Gladys L. Hicks
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Gladys Lally Hicks, 94, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000 at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. Hicks was born July 5, 1906, in Ashtabula, and worked in several Ashtabula restaurants prior to moving to Maryland in 1952. She also attended Ashtabula schools.
She is survived by four daughters: Etta Deene Knox Terry of Ashtabula, Nancy Knox Mack of Westminster, Md., Bobbie Hicks Stone of Edgewater, Md., and M. Kae Hicks of Glen Arm, Md.; one sister, Jeanne Lally Boyle of Ashtabula; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands: J. Warren Knox and M.W. "Bob" Hicks.
