Natalie A. Carle
ASHTABULA - Natalie A. Carle, 71, of Runkle Avenue, died unexpectedly Monday, July 22, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Carle was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Cecil E and Luella R. (Norcutt) Kelly. She was a lifetime area resident.
She was a member of Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church where was active in the Golden Circle. She was a Red Cross blood donor. She also enjoyed bowling and going to the YMCA.
Survivors include her husband Walter Carle, who she married Dec. 1, 1951; two sons, Jeff of Saybrook Township and Greg of Uniontown; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Jill and Michael; and two brothers, Leroy and Roland Kelly. both of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect, Ashtabula. Officiating will be Joyce Shellhammer, elder of the Harris Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Saybrook Township Cemetery.
Calling hours are Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

John Charles Fratis
ASHTABULA - John Charles Fratis, 78, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at his home.
He was born Dec. 18, 1921, in Ashtabula, the son of John and Cecilia (Mello) Fratis.
He served with the Army during World War II.
He was a fisherman for the Lake Erie Fish Co., and was a member of union locals 245 and 496. He retired from the Perry power plant.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jennie Frabutt; a son, Larry of North Kingsville; a daughter, Mary Ann Koski of Ashtabula; and four grandchildren: Doug, Eric and Andy Koski, and Mary Theresa Fratis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joseph; and sisters: Evevlyn Makela and Bernice Colon.
Service is 1 p.m. today at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hour is 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
Samuel D. King
ASHTABULA - Samuel D. King, 73, of West 39th Street, Ashtabula, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born May 4, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Samuel and Nellie (Payne) King, and lived in Ashtabula most of his life.
Prior to retirement, he worked as a coil operator at L-TEC for 20 years, and later was an employee at ESAB.
He served with the Army during World War II.
He loved reading, gardening, football, the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians, and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Williams, whom he married in 1970; a daughter, Carolyn King of Ashtabula; a grandson, Cameron Mann; five sisters, Ivory Wofford and Sandra Henry, both of Ashtabula, and Lela Thompson, Vernita Slater and Gail Randolph, all of Tennessee; and two brothers, Marvin King of Forestville, Md., and Ronald Edward King of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service is noon Saturday at the Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, 923 E. 16th St., Ashtabula. Herman Fleming, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Ridgeview Cemetery, where Ashtabula County United War Veterans will conduct military honors.
Calling hour is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of service.

Eugene C. Cottom
ASHTABULA - Eugene C. Cottom, 65, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born April 19, 1936, in Ashtabula, the son of Eugene and Mary (Patrick) Cottom.
Mr. Cottom was an Ashtabula High School graduate. He was a retired employee of Conrail, where he worked as a clerk.
He enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his wife Sally (Enos); four sons Robert, Tom and Jeff, all of Ashtabula, and Tim of Georgia; three daughters, Debbra Cottom of Texas, Julie Huber of Iowa and Kathy Whatley of Virginia; a sister, Carol Carlisle of Ashtabula; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sandra; and two sisters, Coletta Cottom and Jacqueline Hathy,
Memorial service is 4 p.m. Sunday at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
Calling hours are from 2:30 until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.

Daniel Mullen-Streets
ASHTABULA - Daniel Mullen-Streets, 6 died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, Cleveland, following complications from cardiac arrest.
Born March 17, 1995, he was the son of Fred J. Mullen and Rebecca D. (Schneider) Streets.
He had been planning to enter first grade this fall at Chestnut Elementary School.
Daniel played T-ball for the Giants in the Ashtabula Little League. He loved baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians, for which he dreamed one day of playing.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Billy Streets of Ashtabula; his father and stepmother, Tiffany Mullen of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Nicholas L. and a sister. Delaina A. of Ashtabula; a stepbrother, Jacob Ornelas of Richmond, Va.; and grandparents Betty "Grandma Horsy" and Dale Goddard of Geneva and Helen Mullen of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers Ronald Schneider and Fred Mullen Sr.
Service is 10 a.m. Thursday at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Michael Balash officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Saybrook Township.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dan A. Shamberg
ASHTABULA - Dan A. Shamberg, 84, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001.
He was born March 22, 1917, in Fremont, Kan., the son of Bernard and Matilda (Neiman) Shamberg of Hutchinson, Kan., and had lived in Ashtabula for 45 years.
He was a veteran of the 12th Army Air Corps during World War II, where he flew 24 missions over Europe as a waistgunner. He was decorated with the Air Corps' Air Force medal and the European Victory medal. He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of staff sergeant.
He was owner-broker of Shamberg Realty Co. of Ashtabula for 40 years, specializing in commercial and industrial real estate sales, leasing, appraising and consulting.
He was well-known for his real estate expertise in establishing and expanding many local businesses, industries, national franchise chains and retail shopping centers, creating several hundred jobs in northeast Ohio.
Some of his efforts in the area include the Middle Road Industrial Complex, Harbor Plaza-Jubilee Foods, Ponderosa Steakhouse, Monro Brake and Muffler, the former Gil Liber auto dealership, Mike's Wholesale Farm Market, Rent-a-Wreck, Lakeway Restaurant, Alleman's Bakery, St. Angelo-Cage Furniture and Appliances, Short-Stop Drive Thru, Ashtabula Cinemas, Moses Antique Mall, Martell Cleaners, one of the original Ashtabula County Medical Center expansions, Homesafe shelter, Gran Signor Manor, doctors and lawyer offices and 17 commercial sites in the Ashtabula Mall area.
His national real estate consulting work included the U.S. Steel Corp., Miller Brewing Co. and Allegheny International.
He volunteered community real estate service to Mt. Carmel and St. Joseph churches, St. John High School and land acquisition that now contains the Ashtabula branch of Kent State University.
He was active with the Boy Scouts of America, and served as director of fundraising for the scouts. He also was a member of Eagle Scouts of America.
Other affiliations include Ashtabula Rotary Club, where he was a past president; Ashtabula County Builders Association; Ashtabula County Touchdown Club; Ashtabula Chamber of Commerce; Simon Weisenthal Center; World Jewish Council; Israeli Children's Orphanage Fund; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was an enthusiastic supporter of the Kent State Ashtabula Classical Concert series.
He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, the former Angela Paulchel; two guardian sons, Douglas Kalil and Dr. Timothy Kalil, both of Ashtabula; and a brother, John Shamberg of Prairie Village, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Helen Beutler and Phyllis Zien.
Service is noon Friday at the Potti Lakeside Chapel, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with Rabbi Mathew Eisenberg officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 10 a.m to noon Friday.
