Theodora K. Barrett
ASHTABULA - Theodora K. Barrett, 91, died Friday, Sept. 22 in the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born in Bay City, Mich., on Oct. 7, 1908 the daughter of Theodore and Frances (Borociak) Kaiser.
She was raised in Ashtabula and graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1926. On April 3, 1929, she married Vincent E. Barrett. After marriage, the couple moved to Cleveland. They returned to Ashtabula in 197 and have lived here ever since.
She was a member of Mother of Sorrows Church and a past member of St. Joseph Church when she was younger. She was an avid reader who loved her family and the times they spent together.
She is survied by her husband; her son Vincent E. of Dallas, Texas; her daughters Beverlee Barrett Reulbach of Bay Village and Betty Barrett Buddie of Berea; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her parents and a grandson, Daniel P. Barrett preceded her in death.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26 in the Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 W. 6th St., Ashtabula with the Rev. Kevin Peters officiating. Burial will be in teh St. Joseph Cemetery.
At her request, no calling hours will be held.
The Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road in Ashtabula is in charge of the arrangements.

Elva Ione Sulin
ASHTABULA - Elva Ione Sulin, 79, died Nov. 23, 2000, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
The daughter of Albert E. and Pheobe (King) McGirr, she was born Nov. 24, 1920, in Spratt, Mich. She was an Ashtabula resident for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Sulin retired from Ashtabula County Nursing Home after 27 years of service. She enjoyed crafts, and traveling with family and friends.
She attended the Eastside Presbyterian Church, and was active in the Christian Women's Association. She also volunteered with the hospice.
Survivors include two daughters: Sharon Euler of New Market, Ontario, and Judith Barris of Conneaut; two brothers: Emery of Dearborn, Mich., and Orville of Lachine, Mich.; three sisters: June Breen of Birmingham, Mich., Viola Cobb of Millington, Mich., and Iola Keith of Saginaw, Mich.; and two grandchildren: Alexa and Zachary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; one brother, Lloyd; and two sisters: Ellen Ferguson and Alice.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Askew-Brink-Ducro Harbor Funeral Home, 1709 W. 11th St., with the Rev. Terry Kern, pastor of East Conneaut Baptist Chapel, officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Joseph Kowal
ASHTABULA – Joseph Kowal, 80, of West 40th Street, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at the Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on September 29, 1922 in Poland, and has lived in Ashtabula since 1950.
Prior to his retirement, he worked 30 years at the Raser Tannery
His survivors include his wife, Karolyn Szober, whom he married on January 27, 1951.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Julia; two brothers, Stanley, and John; and his parents.
A Funeral Service for Relatives and Friends will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2003, at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will preside. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula.

Joseph R. Garvey
ASHTABULA - Joseph R. Garvey, 82, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, in Kettering Medical Center, Dayton.
He was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Ashtabula, to Troy and Monica (Roche) Garvey and lived most of his life in Ashtabula, except for the past three years that he has lived with his family in Dayton.
He was a 1937 Harbor High School graduate, and went on to receive his degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame in 1941. While at Notre Dame, he excelled on the varsity tennis team.
He married Mary Hawn July 21, 1947.
He was the yard master for the New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail Railroads for many years. He also was a certified public accountant and owned and operated his own CPA practice for many years.
Mr. Garvey played chess and cribbage competitively and won many local tennis tournaments in his younger days. He was known by his grandchildren and their friends as "Papa Joe."
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary Joelle Guilfoos of Kettering and Peggy Sedlar of Beavercreek; a son Jack of Centerville; and five grandchildren, Brian and Todd Guilfoos and Will, Patrick and Ryan Sedlar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Thomas and Robert, and sister, Mary Buckey.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 W. 6th St., Ashtabula, officiated by the Rev. Kevin W. Peters. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Saybrook Township.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

Robert J. Hopson
ASHTABULA - Robert J. Hopson, 58, of Harmon Road, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 11, 1943, in Glenalum, W. Va., the son of Robert and Ruby (Mounts) Hopson and had been an Ashtabula resident since he was 15.
Mr., Hopson worked as a mechanic most of his life, including 13 years with the Norfolk Southern Railroad.
He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God and enjoyed fishing, hunting and old cars.
Mr. Hopson also was known by his nickname, "Doony".
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Trent), whom he married June 11, 1988; seven children, Bobby Jr., Cheryl Keen, Patricia Hall, and Gary Adkins, all of Ashtabula, Stacy Williams of Atlanta, Ga., and Carl and Monroe of Jefferson; 14 grandchildren; a brother, Rell "Ralph" of Ashtabula; and five sisters, Phyllis Campbell, Delores Ortiz, and Sharon Smith, all of Ashtabula, Glendene Delong of Whitewood, Va., and Margaret Faulkerson of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Monroe; and his parents.
Service is 11a.m. Thursday at the Pentecostal Church of God, 2201 Cook Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Askew-Brink-Ducro Funeral Home, 1709 W. 11th St., Ashtabula.

Delta K. Baldwin
ASHTABULA - Delta K. Baldwin, 54, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in Cleveland Clinic.
Born June 19, 1946, in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Earl and Viola (Cole) Hackathorn.
A homemaker all her life, Mrs. Baldwin enjoyed crocheting, crafts and reading.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. John C. Baldwin Sr., whom she married Feb. 27, 1981; two daughters: Marie Schulz of Conneaut and Alison Smith of Ashtabula; two sons: Allen Jewett Jr. of Ashtabula and David Smith of Orwell; four stepdaughters: Kathy Yerks of Bowling Green, Mary Jo Barnum of Kentucky, Rosella Stevenson of Ashtabula and Colleen Baldwin of Wisconsin; one sister, Nancy Malnar of Madison; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Addison L. Smith; and two stepsons.
Service is 6 p.m. Monday in Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Thomas McCain of Grace Christian Fellowship Church, officiating.
At Mrs. Baldwin's request, no calling hours will be observed.
