Ruth Arlene Case
ASHTABULA - Ruth Arlene Case, 82, of East 26th Street, Country Club Retirement Center of Ashtabula, OH, died Sunday7_29_Case, _Ruth_obot_copy_e morning, July 27, 2003, at the Cleveland Clinic from complications.
She was born in Denmark Township on April 8, 1921, and was the only child of Swen David and Ruth May (Fassett) Lekander. She spent her youth on the family farm and went to the Bula one-room school, and then graduated from Jefferson High School in 1939.
Arlene (the name she liked to be known by) was a lifetime resident of Ashtabula County, except for a year and a half that she and her much loved husband of 62 years lived in Cleveland, OH (1941–42). She married Harold Morton Case on August 14, 1941, at the Pine Ridge Tabernacle in Cooks Forest, Pennsylvania; they were married by the Rev. Lloyd C. Pierce. They lived in Saybrook Township, Ashtabula Harbor, and Jefferson, OH. They have spent the winters in Ocala, FL, since 1982.
She worked at the Ashtabula True Temper for 6 years, and then was known for promoting the World Book, Tupperware, and Sarah Coventry Jewelry.
She is a past member of the Sheffield Star Grange, where she took part as an overseer and a lecturer, served on the Youth For Christ Board, and was a past president and secretary of the Saybrook Center PTA. She also served as their Devotional Chairman, and was a member of the Town & County Mothers Club, The Times Club, and We the Women.
Arlene was proud to be a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashtabula for over 40 years, where she took part in the choir, was President of the Women's Society, the Harmony Class and the Circle. She loved playing the piano and singing for the Sunday School; you would often find her and Harold singing duets at the church and also on Saturday nights at various community centers and rest homes. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson for the past 10 years.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; a son, Roger L. (Marilyn) Case of Clarkston, MI; and a daughter, Sally A. (Tom) Stowe of Ashtabula; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Kyle Case of Clarkston, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 85 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, OH, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2003, with a calling hour a half hour prior to service. Officiating will be Rev. John Lekander, a cousin of the deceased. Burial will be in Gageville Cemetery in Sheffield Township, OH.
Additional Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2003, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the FLEMING FUNERAL HOME, INC., 49 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, OH 44004.
Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Jefferson. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
Mary Harps
ASHTABULA - Mary Harps, 95, of Ashtabula, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born on March 3, 1908, in Arad, Austria-Hungary, the daughter of Michael Lovis and Mary (Lovassy) Bartok.
Mary was a homemaker and liked gardening and working with her flowers. She enjoyed observing and studying the many covered bridges in our area.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon; two sisters, Margaret Redmond of Cleveland, and Elizabeth Winger of Pittsburgh, PA; sister-in-law, Georgia Bartok of NJ; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Sue Cox and Helen Rieck; and a brother, Lewis Bartok.
Graveside Services are at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Edgewood Cemetery, with Pastor Rod Funk of Bethany Lutheran Church, officiating. There will be no Calling Hours.
Contributions may be made to the Covered Bridge Museum in her name.

Robert R. Rock
ASHTABULA - Robert R. Rock, 48, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at University Hospital in Cleveland after a 10-year battle with diabetes. He was born Nov. 22, 1954 in Ashtabula, the son of Jack and Mary Lou (Davis) Rock.
He was a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
Mr. Rock was a 1972 graduate of Ashtabula High School. He had worked in the advertising department for the Star Beacon and Jefferson Gazette newspapers. He had also worked at Volpone’s Suds Shoppe. He was an artist who loved cartoon drawings. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.
Survivors include his daughter, April K. Rock of Jefferson, his parents, his stepfather, Tom Askey, two brothers, John of Geneva and James of Ashtabula; two sisters, Jacklyn Mason of Columbia Station and Rhonda Rock of Ashtabula.
Service is 8 p.m. Monday, at Potti Lakeside Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Della B. Kincaid
ASHTABULA - Della B. Kincaid, 79, formerly of State Road, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 13, 1905 in Webster County, W.Va., the daughter of William V. and Mary Ellen (McClure) Hinkle and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1909.
Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by JCPenney Co. Inc. as a clerk and previously by Nassief Interiors as a seamstress.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald of Kingsville and Ray of Ashtabula; two daughters, Doris Schwebke of Whitewater, Wis. and Jean Durkovic of Apache, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1962, two sons, Richard and Edward; two grandchildren, James and Ginger Kincaid; five brothers, Walter, Dema, Charles, Bryan and Elmer; two sisters, Dora Piper and Pearl Walker and her parents.
A private service will take place at the convenience of the family at the family gravesite in Maple Grove Cemetery, Plymouth Township.
No calling hours will be observed.

Matt Kosman
ASHTABULA - Matt Kosman, 90, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, in Ashtabula.
Mr. Kosman was a retired lieutenant of the Lakewood Police Department.
Survivors include a sister, Florence Geiger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Hayman) Kosman; a sister, Lillian Christy; a brother, Raymond.
Funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Church at Clifton and Bunts roads, Lakewood. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at McGorray Bros. Funeral Home, 14133 Detroit Ave., Lakewood.

Henrietta Colussy
SILER CITY, N.C. - Henrietta Colussy, 92, of Pleasant Hill Church Road, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Chatham Hospital Inc., Siler City, N.C.
She was born Oct. 8, 1909, in Heidelberg, Pa., the daughter of John L. and Nettie (Schnapp) Fisher.
A former elementary school teacher in Ashtabula County, she taught for 20 years before retirement. She was a founding member of Joy Baptist Church, and a former church clerk at Hickory Mountain Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Laura Williams of Siler City; a brother, Howard Fisher of Port Richey, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Angelo Duke.
Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Joy Baptist Church, 61 Bower Store Road, Siler City, with the Rev. Brian Mann officiating. Burial will be in Joy Baptist Church Cemetery.

Vincent L. Barrett
ASHTABULA - Vincent L. Barrett, 96, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in Southern Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center, Middleburg Heights.
He was born Aug. 18, 1905, in Ashtabula, the son of Thomas and Delia (Sharry) Barrett.
Mr. Barrett was a graduate of Mother of Sorrows School and Harbor High School, where he captained the 1925 championship basketball team. He attended Bliss College, the University of Cincinnati, and the Ohio State University.
He taught public speaking and business courses in Cleveland Public Schools until his retirement in 1964.
Mr. Barrett enjoyed history, sports, travel, and everything Irish.
He married Theodora Kaiser on April 3, 1929. They spent their retirement years in Ashtabula.
Survivors include a son, Vincent of Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Beverlee Reulbach of Bay Village, and Betty Buddie of Berea; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2000; and three brothers, Michael, John and Thomas; and a grandson, Daniel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mother of Sorrows Church, 1500 W. Sixth St., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kevin Peters officiating. Burial will in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Saybrook Township
No calling hours will be observed.
