Laurel V. Reed
ASHTABULA - Laurel V. Reed, 85, of E. 39th St., Ashtabula, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 23, 1917, in Ashtabula, the son of James A. and Dora A. (Crockett) Reed, and has been a lifetime area resident.
He was a 1936 graduate of Ashtabula High School.
He married Mabel Jaskela on Jan. 3, 1942.
Mr. Reed was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, serving in the Pacific theater of operations.
Mr. Reed was employed with Hanna Docks and the Conrail Docks in Ashtabula, as an electrician, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the East Side Presbyterian Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 943 of Ashtabula.
He enjoyed being with his family, and traveling and hiking during his younger years.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel; a son, James, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; four daughters, Barbara Miller of Naples, Fla., Kathy Laugen of Kingsville, Nancy Reed of Ashtabula, and Peggy Swartzfager of North Kingsville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Truesdell of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jay Reed; and two sisters, Bette Stofan and Wilmina Wetzel.
Funeral service is noon Thursday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Shane Nanney of East Side Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Ashtabula Township.
Calling hours are 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the East Side Presbyterian Church or the Ashtabula Township Rescue Squad. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Eula Sulin
ASHTABULA - Eula Sulin, 79, of E. 51st St., died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Penna.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.

Melissa A. Williams
ASHTABULA - Melissa Anne Williams, 33, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland.
She was born April 27, 1969, in Ashtabula, to Maria Elena (Rivera) and Paul H. Welser.
She married Warren Williams at Mount Carmel Church, Ashtabula, April 25, 1992.
Mrs. Williams was a 1987 graduate of Ashtabula High School. She tended bar at the Bugler's Inn, American Legion and the Geneva Eagles. She was a customer service representative at People's Bank in Ashtabula Harbor, as well as at Bank One in Mentor.
She was a member of the Northeast Trailriders Club and the Women's Auxiliary of the Eagles. She loved her family, carousel horses and cross-stitching. She also liked tending her rose garden.
Survivors include her husband, Warren; a son, Dalton A. Williams of Ashtabula; a brother, Michael Welser of Ashtabula; her paternal grandmother Melba Scanlon of Geneva; and her parents, both of Austinburg Township.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Paul H. Welser Sr., and maternal grandparents Louis and Jean Rivera.
Funeral service is noon Friday at Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. Burial is in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Rita J. Grabski
ASHTABULA - Rita J. Grabski, 82, a resident of Ashtabula, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Carington Park Nursing Home.
Born on May 22, 1921 in Ashtabula, she was the daughter of Manuel and Mary (Smith) Rebera. For 15 years she lived in FL.
She worked for several years at Ashtabula Rubber where she was a Quality Controller.
A graduate of Ashtabula High School, she was also a member of Mother of Sorrows Church, the Altar and Rosary Society of the Church, and was a former Eucharistic Minister.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Grabski of Ashtabula; a son, Larry Grabski of Milwaukee; three grandchildren, Jennifer Dunlap, Rob Grabski, and Phil Grabski; a great grandchild, Hannah Dunlap; and two sisters, Teresa Silva of Euclid, and Betty Carberry of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Earl Grabski; seven brothers, John, Lawrence, Ernest, Joseph, Anthony, Raymond, and Robert Rebera; and two sisters, Irene Ray, and Sister Roselyn (Catherine Rebera).
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2003, in Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 West 6th Street, Ashtabula, with burial to take place in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call at the GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th Street in Ashtabula on Monday, July 28, 2003, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Donations in her name may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County-ACMA, 2420 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula, OH 44004.

Flora M. Mayle
ASHTABULA - Flora M. Mayle, 91, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in Park Haven Nursing Home.
She was born March 1, 1911, in Philippi, W.Va., to James and Florence (Huffman) Moyers.
Survivors include sons James, Douglas and Harold Mayle, all of Ashtabula; daughters Shirley Causen and Ramona Thompson, both of Ashtabula, Elizabeth Smith of Bryan, Texas; Adeline Bort of Conneaut, and Linda Schlegel of Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Moyers of Wallace, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; sons Roy Beaver, Roy Mayle, Troy Mayle and William Mayle; daughters Vina Ball and Winnie Marple; brothers William, Charles, James and Kenneth Moyers; and sisters Maxine Spencer, Opal Moyers, Jenny Moyers and Mary Moyers.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula, with the Rev. John Germaine officiating. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Joseph L. Barker
ASHTABULA - Joseph Louis Barker, 53, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in Detroit.
Mr. Barker was born April 8, 1949, in Naples, Italy, the son of Salvatore and Maria (Nappo) Rossi.
After his parents died, he came to the United States and was raised by Victor and Tonya Barker.
After graduating from high school in Jacksonville, Fla., he entered the boiler-making trade. For 20 years, he belonged to Local 744 Boiler Makers. He also was a member of Lodge 118 Masons of Citrus County, Inverness, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, the former Meriba Wagner; three daughters, Lisa Y. Barker of Henderson, Ky.; and Sarah M. Barker and Katie Barker, both of Ashtabula; two grandsons, Tristan and Michael Barker; three brothers, Pasquale Nappo of Naples, and Victor and Geno Barker of Florida; and five sisters, Maria Barker of Florida, Tina DiSilvestro of Geneva, Switzerland, Anna Ginnaelli and Lina Batiaglia, both of Naples, Italy, and Tonya Barker of Jacksonville.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday in the Guerriero Funeral Home, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula. Burial will be at a later date.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Anna B. DeBow
ASHTABULA - Anna B. DeBow, 96 of Ashtabula died Thursday, Sept. 21, in the Hospice Unit at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born December 23, 1903 in Clintonville, W. Va., the daughter of Alfred L. and Lucy Belle (Stull) Crookshanks and lived in Cherry Valley Township from 1939 to 1988 before moving to Ashtabula.
She was a graduate of Painesville Harvey High School and was married to Gordon D. DeBow on Aug. 18, 1926 in Painesville, where she previously lived before moving to Cherry Valley Township.
Mrs. DeBow was a member of the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, the Women's Society for Christian Service and enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading.
Survivors include five children; E. Carol DeBow, Ardith C. DeBow and Roger A. DeBow all of Ashtabula; Donnann Shadle of Cherry Valley Township; and Virginia J. Cole of Conneaut; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gordon in 1981; three brothers, Howard, James and George Crookshanks; four sisters, Nancy Crookshanks, Cornelea Crookshanks, Addie Smith and Kathyryn Comingos; a granddaughter, Pamela Cole and a great-grandson, Benjamin Gordon Struble.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the Fleming Funeral Home Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with the Rev. Eugene B. Wilson, grandson of the deceased, officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery, New Lyme Township.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 or to the Arthritis Foundation, 11416 Bellflower Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44106. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
