Samuel B. Perry
Samuel B. Perry, age 78, of Norwalk, died Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after a sudden illness.
He was born February 19, 1928 in Prestonsburg, KY, and was a truck driver for the Coal Bit Company for many years. He moved to Norwalk with his family in 1966 and worked at Shepp Plumbing and Heating, then retired after 24 years in maintenance at Mayflower Vehicle Systems in Norwalk, 1990.
He was the Pastor of the Deliverance Tabernacle from 1989 until present in New London. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his many neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Opal (Haywood) Perry of Norwalk; children and their spouses, Wanda (Pete) Kessler of SC, Linda Sue (Bill) Daniels of NC, Ruth Carol Myers of Sandusky, Gary (Judy) Perry of Norwalk, Larry (Sharon) Perry of IN, Jerry (Martha) Perry of Norwalk, and Donna Kilgore of Greenwich; 26 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren; sisters, Avanell Sturgel of St. Mary’s, OH and Eleanor Howell of Prestonsburg, KY; brother, John David Perry of Prestonsburg, KY.
He was preceded in death by his sons, David Perry and Roy Perry; daughter, Mary Beth Ramey; parents, William and Erma (Parker) Perry; brother, James Perry; sister, Martha Burke.
Friends may call on Monday 6 – 9 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home. The Revs. George Lewis and Harvey Puckett will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be sent to one’s favorite charity.

Daniel Thomas
Daniel Thomas, age 62, formerly of Norwalk, died Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, OH.
He was born October 8, 1943 in Norwalk, where he lived all of his life until moving to East Sparta, OH in 2003. He was an ironworker and also worked as a group leader at Janesville Products in Norwalk for nine years. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Bebout of North Canton; son, Bryan Thomas of Barberton; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; a brother, Gary Thomas of Brooksville, FL; and his father, Levi Thomas in Brooksville, FL; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Valoris (Knight) Thomas in 1986.
At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation or services.

Paul Auerhamer
August 16, 2006
Paul R. Auerhamer, age 81, of Milan, died Wednesday evening, August 16, 2006 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
He was born December 25, 1924 in Washington, D.C. to the late William Max and Pauline (Revere) Auerhamer. He served in the US Navy during World War II from 1942 until 1947. He lived in East Canton for many years and moved to the Milan area in 1962. He was an electronic lab technician for NASA Plum Brook and was a member of the Sheriff auxiliary for 30 years.
He was a member of the Norwalk VFW Post 2743, Milan American Legion Post 527 and the Erie Masonic Lodge 239 and Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Eagles Aerie 711, Lake Shore Corvette Club, Zenobia Temple Shrine and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Judy Ward; son and daughter-in-law, Paul R. (Marcia) Auerhamer of Collins; and daughter and son-in-law, Christine R. (Richard) Smith of Wellington; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a nephew; step-mother, Evelien Auerhamer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Auerhamer; sister, Mary L. Haskell; and his parents.
Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.

Baby Gabriella Dean
August 26, 2006
Gabriella Marie Dean, was stillborn on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
She is survived by her parents, Julia Anne Dean of Huron and Kyle Eugene Grose of Norwalk; maternal grandparents, Pamela Notley of Huron and John Dean of Cincinnati; paternal grandparents, Bruce Grose and Sandra Grose, both of Norwalk.
Private family services will be held Wednesday at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Clyde.

Delma Isaac
August 28, 2006
Delma (Thornsberry) Isaac, age 80, of Wakeman died Monday evening, August 28, 2006 at her residence, following a lengthy illness.
She was born December 3, 1925 in Bevinsville, Kentucky. She was an autoworker in the 1950’s and then a homemaker, where she enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was also a member of the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church in Plymouth.
She is survived by her son, Rondall Isaac of Wakeman; daughter, LaDonna Greszler of Wakeman; sisters, Thelma Thornsberry, Sarah Thornsberry, both of Shelby, Imilee Amburgey of Hager Hill, Kentucky, Louise Hall of Kite, Kentucky; and a brother, Buel Thornsberry of Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Sylvester Isaac in 2003; parents, Mart and Lizzie Thornsberry; sister, Ivilean Brown; and a brother in infancy.
Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk and Friday after 3:00 p.m. at Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church, 4982 Henry Road, Plymouth, where services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. Elders Buddy Carty, Elmer Edwards and other ministers of the church will officiate.
Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven.

Carl Byrd Jr
August 28, 2006
Carl Byrd Jr, age 59, of New London, died suddenly Monday afternoon, August 28, 2006 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born January 21, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. He served in the US Navy from 1963 until 1969.
He was an avid mechanic for 35 years, building high performance transmissions for drag racing. He was a leader and pioneer in drag racing and holds six world records. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, and racing Ford cars.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Angelina (Italiano) Byrd of New London; daughter, Cindie Byrd of Norwalk; son, Michael Byrd of Norwalk; three grandchildren; sisters, Sue Born of Collins and Jean Shafer of Vermilion; brother, and sister-in-law, Jerry and Linda Byrd of Berlin Heights; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Sr. and Evelyn (Laudermilk) Byrd; and a sister, Shirley Schoefield.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Jonathan Wight will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion.

Margie J. Nelson
September 2, 2006
Margie J. (Reynolds) Nelson, age 78, of Norwalk, died Saturday morning, September 2, 2006 at Briarfield of Milan.
She was born December 1, 1927 in Norwalk, where she lived all of her life. She was a graduate of Fairfield Township High School in 1945 and was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Norwalk VFW Post 2743.
She is survived by a niece, two nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Nelson in 1993; two brothers; and her parents, Carl and Flossie (Bowden) Reynolds.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A graveside service will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.

Elzie Bowles
September 4, 2006
Elzie (Vandall) Bowles, age 81, of Milan, died Monday evening, September 4, 2006 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
She was born April 27, 1925 in Elton, West Virginia to the parents, Samuel H. and Nancy (Daniels) Vandall. She lived in the Milan area since 1959 and worked at the West Baking Company in Norwalk, retiring in 1980.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Burton O. (Sharon) Bowles of Milan and Paul (Barb) Bowles of Creal Springs, Illinois; grandchildren, Melanie (Randy) Churchill of Norwalk, Burton A. (Serena) Bowles of Norwalk, Lori Ann (Steve) Porritt of Pittsburg, Illinois, Paul (Rhonda) Bowles of Crab Orchard, Illinois; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otho Bowles in 1973; her sister and a brother; and parents.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 – 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Adrian Doll, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Milan Cemetery.

Kathleen A. Smith
September 8, 2006
Kathleen "Kay" Ann Smith, age 61, of Huron and formerly Norwalk, died Friday, September 08, 2006 at the Medical University of Toledo.
She was born March 1, 1945 in Norwalk and was a graduate of Norwalk High School. She worked for many years at the former Huron County Banking Company and retired from National City Bank. After retirement she worked as a bookkeeper at Huron Honda Outdoor Shop and loved spending time with her granddaughters. She enjoyed plants, gardening, crafts and Christmas houses.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher “Sinjin” and Loren Smith of Palm Bay, Florida; granddaughters, Alexis and Brooke; fiance, Robert Klaiber; sister, Ruth Stark; and brothers, Tom and Jim Evans; former husband, Lloyd Smith Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Frieda (Witter) Jacobs.
Friends may call on Monday from 5 – 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.

Mary E. Ziemke
September 9, 2006
Mary E. Ziemke, (Cecil) 71, of Norwalk, died early Saturday, September 09, 2006 of a brief illness of cancer at the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
She was born May 18, 1935 in Norwalk, where she lived most of her life.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk, The Red Hat Society of Port Clinton, The Women of the Moose, Port Clinton and The Norwalk Elks . She was also a volunteer worker at St. Paul Church for many years.
She and her late husband, James were the former owners of The Myers-Ziemke Insurance Agency of Monroeville from which she retired in 2000.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time at Lake Erie and the company of her friends and family.
She is survived by her daughters: Diana Ziemke, of Norwalk and Barb Hoke, of Port Clinton. And sons, Tom Ziemke and Steve Ziemke and a sister, Rita Cecil all of Norwalk.
She was preceded in death by her husband James E. Ziemke in 1992 and her parents, Edwin and Helena (Fite) Cecil.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006 at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Sept.13, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Gene Clem
September 10, 2006
Gene Clem, age 72, of Wheelersburg, OH and formerly of Norwalk, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.
He was born June 1, 1934 in Willard and was a graduate of Willard High School. He served in the US Army from 1957 until 1959. He worked 49 years at Fair Publishing House in Norwalk, retiring in 2003. He was a former member of the Church of God in Willard. He enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
He is survived by his children, Sheri, Marcia, Debbi and Mark; Sister, Judith Simon; step-brother, Richard Beebe; former wife and caregiver, Margaret Clem.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice (Fletcher) Bebbe.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 7 – 9 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at the Olena Cemetery.

Charlie V. Miller
September 13, 2006
Charles Vernon Miller, age 66, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, September 13, 2006 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 20, 1940 in Proctorville, Ohio and lived in Sandusky most of his life. He worked at Ford Visteon, and retired after 42 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and his home. He was also a member of the U.A.W. Local 1216 in Sandusky.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie (Barnett) Miller of Sandusky; son, Christopher Miller of Sandusky; step-son, Christian Jasinski of Sandusky; mother, Mary Woodyard; brothers, Barry Woodyard and John Woodyard, both of Norwalk.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Miller; and step-father, John Woodyard.
At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation or services. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk. The Rev. Steve Payne will officiate.

Rose Ann Lais
September 15, 2006
Rose Ann Lais, age 84, of North Port, Florida died Friday, September 15, 2006 in Port Charlotte, Florida.
She was born February 19, 1922 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania and was a graduate of West High School in Cleveland, Ohio. She worked in Enon, Ohio for many years as a Postal worker and retired in 1975. In 1978 she moved to North Port, Florida where she was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Donna Lais of Piqua, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Don R. Lais in 2005; son, Brian Lais in 2006; and her parents, Albert and Dorothy Burger.
Friends may call Friday, September 22, 2006 from 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will be at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Joseph Wesley Thorley, age 85, of Norwalk, died Friday afternoon, September 15, 2006 in Briarfield at Milan.
He was born January 1, 1921.

Mary Lou Eslinger
September 17, 2006
Mary Lou G. Eslinger, age 63, of Milan, died Sunday evening, September 17, 2006 at her residence in Milan, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born October 17, 1942 in Norwalk, and was a 1960 graduate of Norwalk High School. She later went to college in Columbus, and lived there for over eight years then returned to Milan, where she lived since. She was a receptionist with Partners in Community at Sandusky.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Milan and it’s altar and rosary society. She held many officer titles with the Daughters of Isabella, and was a former member of the Women of St. Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Damon Lamb of Milan; grandsons, Nathaniel and Gabriel Lamb; sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Chuck Lage of Upland, California; nephew, Hans Lage, aunts and uncles.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 130 S. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Francis J. Speier, pastor of the church, will officiate. A reception for family and friends will follow at the church social hall. Private interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
