Mildred E. Lute
ASHTABULA - Mildred "Millie" E. Lute, 77, formerly of Gageville Road, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born September 4, 1926, in Albion, NY, and lived in Ashtabula County most of her life.
She worked at Ash/Craft Industries for years, assembling jewelry boxes.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Delores Lute of Kingsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Lute; and her parents.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Gageville Cemetery in Sheffield Township with Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor of Pentecostal Church of God, officiating.
At Miss Lute's request, no calling hours will be observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ash/Craft Industries, 5959 Green Road, Kingsville, OH 44048.
DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, has charge of the arrangements.

JACK T. WISURI
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Jack T. Wisuri, 60, formerly of Ashtabula, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007.
Arrangements are being handled by Avatar Cremation Services, North Palm Beach, Fla.

Lawrence G. Scafuro
Saturday, September 22, 2007
ASHTABULA – Lawrence George Scafuro “Cabbage Head”, age 89, died Thursday, September 20, 2007, in Ashtabula County Medical Center’s Hospice Unit.
Born in Ashtabula on February 26, 1918, he was the son of the late Fred and Vincenza Guerra Scafuro. He was a resident of Ashtabula all of his life and wintered in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Lawrence retired from Chrysler Stamping in Twinsburg, Ohio in 1982 as a millwright.
He was a member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Sons of Italy, the Italian Club, Moose, V.F.W., American Legion, and Ashtabula Rod and Reel Club. Lawrence enjoyed traveling, dancing, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Valerie) Scafuro, Debra Griffiths, Cynthia (Joe) Buser, Mary Scafuro all of Ashtabula, Lawrence “Butch” (Ales) Scafuro of California, and Sally (Hank) Smythe of Arkansas; step-children, Frank Daniels, Jr. of Canton, Rose (Richard) Davis of Ashtabula, and David (Anna) Daniels of Orlando, Fla.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Chebra of Ashtabula; and brother, Carmen (Hazel) Scafuro of Ashtabula.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Scafuro; second wife, Rose Daniels Scafuro; daughter, Laurie Barber; brothers, Frank Scafuro, Gregory Scafuro; and sister, Clara Bliss.
A Funeral Service will be on Monday, September 24, 2007, at 11 a.m., at Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to family.

ASHTABULA - Daniel P. Rice, 29, of Lyndon Ave., died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Childs and Williams Funeral Home, 1440 W. Prospect Road.

Cornelia E. Wilpula
ASHTABULA - Cornelia E. Wilpula, 87, of Homewood Avenue died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born February 26, 1922 in Mt. Vernon, NY, the daughter of Winfield Scott and Ethel Dorothy (Garrison) Wardell, Jr. and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1952.
Prior to her retirement at age 80, she worked over 20 years for the Ashtabula County Board of Children's Services (a job she truly enjoyed) and previously worked 10 years for Sanborn Motors.
A member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Mrs. Wilpula enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, and animals, especially the many cats she had rescued over the years. She and her family became especially close with the husband's family, the Wilpulas, and they have sustained a lifelong friendship.
Her survivors include her son, Raymond S. Wilpula, Jr. of Kingsville; and one sister, Carol Wardell of Ashtabula with whom she lived the past four years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Solomon Wilpula; one brother, Winfield Scott Wardell, III; one sister, Miriam Dorothy Wardell in infancy; and her parents.
A service will be 11 AM Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4901 Main Avenue, Ashtabula. Canon David Evans will preside. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hour will be from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday at the church in the Guild Room.
Contributions may be made to the Living Memorial Fund of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to nurses at the Ashtabula County Medical Center for the kindness during Cornelia's last days.
Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.

Michael T. Hutchinson, Sr.
ASHTABULA – Michael Thomas Hutchinson, Sr., 41, of Columbus Avenue died Saturday, July 18, 2009.
He was born February 27, 1968 in Ashtabula, the son of Darrell and Kimberlee (Starr) Hutchinson and had been a lifelong area resident.
He worked as an over the road truck driver, but was truly a jack of all trades especially with working on cars and landscaping.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mike was always willing to help others and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, NASCAR, and being around his family (especially his children).
His survivors include his wife, Heather (Coxe) whom he married February 7, 2000; four sons, Michael Thomas, Jr. Hutchinson, James Lacy, and Thomas Allen and Nicholas Alexander Hutchinson, all of Ashtabula; his step-children, Jason Matthew Hutchinson II and Raechel Leigh Coxe, both of Ashtabula; one grandchild, Jaime Lynn Hutchinson; his parents, Darrell and Kimberly Hutchinson of Ashtabula; three brothers, Richard, Ronald, and Jason Hutchinson; his mother-in-law, Shauna Bilbrey; and his sister-in-law, Natalie Bilbrey.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Samuel Neil Hutchinson; and his grandmother, Bonita Claussen and great-grandmother, Edna Ginter, both of whom he was especially close to.
A memorial service will be held 7 PM Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Rev. Kenneth Roberts, Pastor of the Pentecostal Church of God will officiate with full military honors being rendered by the American Legion Dewey-Howlett Post #103.
Contributions may be made to his wife in care of the Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home.

Abel, John Paul
ASHTABULA - John Paul Abel, 84, formerly of Lincoln Drive, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born January 11, 1925 in Carrollton, Ohio the son of Paul R. and Ina Mae(Dotts) Abel and was an Ashtabula resident for fifty years after moving from Nelsonville, OH.
A graduate of Carrollton High School, he joined the Navy in 1942. After his return from the Navy, he graduated from Muskingham College with a Bachelor of Science Degree and later earned his Masters in History Degree from the University of Akron. He was a teacher and coach at Harbor High School and was later employed at Edgewood High School as a guidance counselor and coach. He was a track and field official for the Ohio Athletic Association for many years.
His greatest enjoyment came from creating woodcraft projects for Ashcraft Industries. He enjoyed volunteering for the Special Olympics as a track official and a bus driver. As a young man, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His survivors include his daughter, Patricia Rockwell of Ashtabula; grandson, Jeff Schultz of Ashtabula; brother, Keith (Judy) Abel of Carrollton; three nephews and three nieces; and good friend, Steve Rockwell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila, in 2004; son, Mark; his brothers, Myron and Frank Abel; and his parents.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 PM and 5 to 7 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Ducro Funeral Home and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula. Military honors provided by the American Legion Post #103 will be held at 1:00 PM.

Ackerson, Betty Joan
ASHTABULA – Betty Joan Ackerson, 89, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born April 6, 1918 in Vandergrift, PA, the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Linsenbigler) Ackerson and had considered Ashtabula her hometown where she spent her early years and much of her adult life.
While living in Ashtabula, she was an active member of the YMCA Book Forum and at one time was secretary to the Star Beacon business manager.
She attended Fenn College in Cleveland, OH.
Denver, Colorado became her home for 13 years where she was employed as a secretary for the Colorado Department of Education and belonged to local camera clubs.
She lived in Carson City, Nevada off and on since 1974 and retired from the Nevada State Dept. of Commerce in 1984.
Miss Ackerson had a lifelong passion for learning and reading. She especially enjoyed Russian History, English History, literature from all over the world, poetry, and the arts. She lived life to the fullest and was so proud of the loves of her life, her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
Her survivors include her sister, Marylou (Carmen) Sespico of Ashtabula; nephews, William (Elaine) Sespico of Ashtabula and Joseph (Barbara) Sespico of Mentor; nieces, Mary (Thomas) Bamburak of Newbury, Ann Sespico of Scottsdale, AZ, and Kathleen (Charles) Hamalainen of Ashtabula; and many great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the home of Bill and Elaine Sespico, 3128 Avon Blvd., Ashtabula, OH.
No calling hours will be observed.
