Herbert E. “Hambone” Acord
ASHTABULA – Herbert Eugene “Hambone” Acord, 76, of East Prospect Road died Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born December 29, 1928 in Charleston, WV, the son of James W. and Della (Elkins) Acord.
He worked for Union Carbide/Elkem Metals for many years prior to his retirement.
A life-member of the Ashtabula Eagles Lodge, he joined over 44 years ago and was an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees.
He leaves no immediate survivors.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James J. Acord; one sister, Imogene Acord; and his parents.
A service will be held 10 AM Friday, November 18, 2005 at Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 3140 East Center St. (S.R. 20), N. Kingsville where the Ashtabula Eagles Lodge will conduct their memorial service. Burial will follow.
No calling hours will be observed.

Adams, Allen
Ashtabula - Allen Adams, 60, of Chestnut Ave., died Monday December 12, 2005 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born October 25, 1945 in Ashland, KY he was the son of Edgar & Laurie (Hicks) Adams.
He belonged to the Fellowship Bible Church.
Allen enjoyed watching sports, especially the Cleveland Browns & Indians & New York Yankees, reading his bible and listening to music.
He owned & operated Adams Landscaping in Ashtabula for many years.
Allen is survived by his wife, Glenna (Grubaugh) whom he married in 2002; two brothers, Ollie Adams of Greenville, Missouri, Eddie Adams of Hollywood, Fl; three sisters, Janet Adams of Kingsville, Barbara Adams of Hilliard, Ohio, Mary Adams of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Angela Adams; and his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday December 15, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Fellowship Bible Church, 4527 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. Minster Ollie Adams, brother of Allen’s will officiate.
No calling hours will be observed.

Florence M. Adams
ASHTABULA – Florence Myrtle Adams, 58, of State Road died unexpectedly Monday, May 3, 2004 at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born November 19, 1945 in Painesville, the daughter of Howard Arisman and Margaret (Genther) Demorest and had been an area resident most of her life.
A graduate of Conneaut High School, she was working as a cashier for Sheetz. She previously worked for WalMart, Channel Products, and 15 years for Hills.
A huge Elvis fan, she enjoyed bingo, antique car shows, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, John Adams, Jr., whom she married August 19, 1967; two sons, John III (Amy) and Robert (Margaret), both of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Alexander John, Kayla Ashley, Annabelle, and Allen; six sisters, Carrie “Cookie” Kennedy of Ashtabula, Emily Herring of Kissimmee, FL, Cheryl Atkisson of Erie, PA, Barb Hewitt and Sandy Demorest, both of Lorain, and Pat Danker of Toledo; and three brothers, Howard “Butch” Hewitt of Lorain, Jimmy Demorest of PA, and Howard “Uncle Howdy” Demorest of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Demorest, and her parents.
A service will be held 11 AM on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at the Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Pastor David Adams of the Grace Gospel Church will officiate. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 from 7 to 9 PM and Thursday from 10 to 11 AM.

Jean May Ahlman
Ashtabula - Jean May Ahlman, 77, of St Rt 307 West, died Sunday September 4, 2005 at ACMC Hospice Unit.
Born July 27, 1928 in Olmstead Falls, she was the daughter of Albert & Ruth (Jones) Hoffman.
Jean graduated from Austinburg High School in 1946.
Mrs. Ahlman attended Austinburg First United Church of Christ where she was the church secretary for many years.
Jean also worked for Grand River Academy as a Secretary for ten years before retiring.
She enjoyed music, gardening, her home and reading, especially mysteries; in fact, Jean won an award from the book mobile for the most books read in Ashtabula County for one year.
Survivors include; her husband, Eldon, whom she married May 4, 1947 at Austinburg First United Church of Christ; a son, Don Ahlman of Florence, KY; two daughters, Susan (Jim) Schneider of Burlington, KY, Linda (Mike) Green of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, Christopher & Alyssa Ahlman, Jennifer, Stephanie and Chad Green.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert & Donald Hoffman; and her parents.
Service will be Wednesday September 7, 2005 at 12:00 PM Noon at Austinburg First United Church of Christ. Rev. Allison Milligan, Pastor of Austinburg First United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Austin Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 11:00 AM until time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Austinburg First United Church of Christ or Hospice of the Western Reserve.
Reverend Sherry A. Aleck (Loiacono)
ASHTABULA, OH - Reverend Sherry A. Aleck (Loiacono) started her journey to Heaven on September 25, 2005. Sherry fought a long, hard battle against Pancreatic Cancer for over a year. She was an inspiration to all during her battle, never once giving up or complaining.
She was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 13, 1942. She is a graduate of Edsel Ford High School. She joined the Marines and became a Military Police Officer. She became a minister in Ohio and has served God ever since.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Ball, and her son, U.S. Marine Captain Michael W. Loiacono currently stationed in VA. Michael is asking that no flowers be sent, but that donations are made in Sherry’s name to the Pancreatic Cancer Society (www.pancan.com 877-272-6226), or the American Cancer Society (800-ACS-2345).
There will be a dinner held to celebrate Sherry’s life on Saturday, October 8, 2005 from 4pm-7pm at 2676 Burlingham Drive, Ashtabula, Ohio.
This wonderful woman, extraordinary mom, devoted servant of God, hardcore Marine, and unselfish friend will be greatly missed by friends and family. Semper Fidelis!
Mary “Connie” Allen
ASHTABULA – Mary Constance “Connie” Allen, 93, of East 26th Street died Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She had been a resident of Country Club Retirement Center since 1997.
She was born June 18, 1912, the daughter of James P. and Abby C. (Martin) McCarthy and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1930 graduate of Ashtabula High School, the quote under her name in the yearbook held true for the rest of her life, “Her personality brings her a host of friends.” She earned a scholarship to St. Xavier College, Chicago where she received her degree in Education.
She taught 7th grade at West Jr. High from 1935 – 1941 and then taught at St. Joseph School and Station Elementary from 1953 – 1959.
An avid reader, she was a master of crossword puzzles and loved birds. She belonged to the local Audubon Society and St. Joseph Church, where she was an active vocalist, singing at funerals and weddings. She loved to travel with her husband in their motor home and they regularly went to Cook’s Forest and various other destinations across the country.
Her survivors include one daughter, Connie Marie Hanus of Bedford; two grandchildren, Glenn and Julie; and one brother, Lee M. McCarthy of Vero Beach, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Loomis Allen on February 3, 2003; one son, Thomas Edward Allen in 1951; two brothers, Robert C. McCarthy and Francis X. McCarthy; one sister, Abby C. Moroney; and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, Pastor will preside. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

Alma J. Caudill
ASHTABULA – Alma Jean Caudill, 75, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Silver Sands Shared Residency.
She was born December 5, 1928 in Floyd Co., KY, the daughter of Jeff and Elizabeth (Osborne) Henson and had been an Ashtabula resident for 53 years.
On June 28, 1946, she married the love of her life, Ross Caudill, Sr. and began a never ending love affair that will last for eternity.
Prior to her retirement, she operated the Doll House Ceramic Shop from her home.
A member of St. Joseph Church, Mrs. Caudill was an exceptionally talented and creative lady. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, ceramics, painting, and making porcelain dolls. She even made her own clothing patterns and outfits for her family and her dolls.
She is survived by four children, Charlene (Dalton) Dixon, , Ross “Skip” (Glenis) Caudill, Jr., Mickey Caudill and Kathleen (Tom) Sandella, all of Ashtabula; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patsy Cellitti and Pam Shaffer; three brothers, Audra Henson, Jeff Dean Henson and Sandy Henson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross in 1984; her beloved brother, John Boy Henson on January 19, 2000; six brothers and sisters in infancy; and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at St. Joseph Church, 3330 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula. The Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, Pastor will preside. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, N. Kingsville.
