Robert R. Terry, age 84, of Norwalk, died Monday, November 20, 2006 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after a brief illness.
He was born April 1, 1922 in Norwalk and was a 1940 graduate of Norwalk High School. He served in the US Navy during World War II in the Atlantic Mediterranean and the Pacific Theatres. He was a draftsman, employed with the Huron County Engineers office, retiring in 1981 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Norwalk, American Legion Post 41, and the Mt. Vernon Lodge 64 F & A.M.. He was an avid gardener and also enjoyed growing roses. He traveled on numerous trips to the Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Powers) Terry of Norwalk; daughter, Patricia Ann Terry of Norwalk; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Bernice (Rich) Terry; and a sister, Betty Lou Ewell.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until time of memorial service at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd., Norwalk. The Rev. Adrian Doll, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Grace Shumer
November 24, 2006
Grace Anna (Bellamy) Shumer, age 93, of Norwalk died Friday morning, November 24, 2006 at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk.
She was born March 8, 1913 in Norwalk, where she lived all of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and it’s Mary Martha Circle of the Church. She worked 46 years at the F.W. Woolworth Company in Norwalk during World War II as the store manager, and again in the last 10 years before retirement in 1978. During the interim she served as the bookkeeper. She then became the financial secretary and treasurer at the First United Methodist Church for four years. She was the past Worthy Matron for the Queen Esther Chapter of the Eastern Star and enjoyed volunteering at Fisher-Titus Medical Center since 1990.
She is survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Shumer in 1977; sister, Josephine Green; and a brother, Samuel Bellamy; and her parents, Joseph and Anna (Stoneham) Bellamy.
At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Wakeman Cemetery. The Rev. Edna Stahl, associate pastor at the First United Methodist Church in Norwalk, will officiate.

Milton Edgar Leber, Sr
December 1, 2006
Milton Edgar Leber Sr, 77, formerly of Norwalk and residing in Summerville, SC, died Friday, December 1, 2006 at the Trident Medical Center in Summerville, South Carolina.
He was born October, 18 1929 in Monroeville. He was a retired farmer and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Ohio Labors Union. He enjoyed the mountains of Pennsylvania and wintering in Florida for many years. He also enjoyed getting all the e-mails from family and friends during the last couple of years. He moved to the warmer climate of South Carolina in September of last year.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Pauline (Digby) Leber; daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Deborah) Gough of Chester, West Virginia, Mrs. Timothy (Robin) Slocum of Summerville, South Carolina; son, Mr. Milton (Mary) Leber, Jr. of Huron; sisters, Joanne (Don) Moyer, of Norwalk, Marjorie (Richard) Ott, of Willard; brothers, Delbert (Joanne) Leber, of Norwalk, Walter (Helen) Leber, of Willard, Glen Leber, of Huron, Fred (Dorothy) Leber, of Norwalk, Raymond Leber, of Norwalk, James Leber, of Milan, Howard Leber, of Milan; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Rhea (Weilnau) Leber and infant brother, Alden David.
Friends may call on Monday, December 4th, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 East Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Tuesday, December 5th, in the funeral home. The Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney, pastor of St. John’s United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.

Mildred E. (Gearhart) Sherer
July 26, 2006
Mildred E. (Gearhart) Sherer, age 89, of Norwalk, died Wednesday morning, July 26, 2006 at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk.
She was born August 19, 1916 in Bucyrus, and was a graduate of Mt. Zion High School in Crawford County, OH. She lived in Sandusky for many years and attended St. John’s United Church of Christ, St. Stephens United Church of Christ and also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Norwalk. She lived in Sun City, Arizona from 1975 until 1997 and then to Norwalk.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James A. and Pat Sherer of Arlington, Texas and Larry N. and Tonia Sherer of Berlin Heights; daughter and son-in-law, Darlene A and Russell Deeble of Norwalk; sisters, Miriam Fauser of Bucyrus and Annibel Harper of Palm Harbor, Florida; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, Robert Sherer, to whom she married September 5, 1937; and her parents, Arthur and Ida M. (Philips) Gearhart.
Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 28, 2006 at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Edgar Shelly will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.

Ethel Louise Christian
August 4, 2006
Ethel Louise Christian, age 91, of Norwalk, died Friday evening, August 4, 2006 at Gaymont Nursing Center in Norwalk of natural causes.
She was born December 18, 1914 in Louisa, Kentucky and was a farmer’s wife for many years in Ohio. In the 1970’s she worked at Christie Lane School as a classroom aid and later worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed reading, sewing, listening to country western music and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Charles (Betty) Christian of Norwalk, James (Nancy) Christian of Norwalk, Marlene Traczek of Norwalk, Mary Christian of Norwalk and Charlotte (Mike) Andrus of Allegan, Michigan; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Bryant of Huron.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Glenn Christian Sr. in 1997; father, Fred Perry; stepfather and mother, James Canterbury Sr. and Clara (Thompson) (Perry) Canterbury; brothers, sisters, and a great-grandson, Isaac Roth; son-in-law, Tom Traczek.
Friends may call on Monday from 5 – 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Audrey Hibbard

Audrey (Daugherty) Hibbard, age 32, of Berlin Heights, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
She was born December 6, 1974 in Cleveland, OH.
She attended the Maple City Church of God in Norwalk. She was an at-home mother and homemaker. She loved to fish, sing karaoke and play guitar.
She is survived by her husband, Monte Hibbard of Berlin Heights; her son, Tyler Hibbard of Berlin Heights; her mother, Connie Mullins; step-mother, Mary Stewart; sisters, Theresa Manson of Marion, OH, Connie McKerahan of New London, OH, Kimberly Stewart of Crestline, OH, Ivy Stewart of Marian, OH, Doris Goodwin of Lakewood, OH, Debra Valentine of Cleveland, OH and Sonja Mullins in Tennessee; brothers, Kippy Stewart of Rogers, OH, Smokie Stewart of Norwalk, OH, Bobby Stewart of Crestline, OH, Ronnie Nicely of Warren, OH and Jaden Stewart of Marion, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy A. Stewart Sr.on February 20, 2007; step-father, Charles Mullins; sisters, Belva Foster and Mary Stewart; brother, Roy Stewart Jr.; and cousin, Garrett Stewart.

Dellene P. Oglesby
August 5, 2007
Dellene P. Oglesby, age 66, of Norwalk, died Sunday, August 05, 2007 at her residence.
She was born February 26, 1941 in Sandusky, Ohio and graduated in 1960 from Norwalk High School. She was a homemaker for many years and in 1981 began working as a teacher’s aid at Christie Lane School, retiring in 2000. She was an avid painter with oils, however her true joy was spending time with her grandchildren, and working with children at Christie Lane.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Phillip Oglesby II of Norwalk; daughters and son-in-law, Teresa “Tracey” and Mark McIntyre of Blacklick, OH and Kimberly Oglesby of Chicago, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Maei Oglesby III of Norwalk and Sean and Tarina Oglesby of Norwalk; nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and a sister, Constance “Connie” Smith of Norwalk; brother-in-law, Rufes Roldan of Sandusky, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert Woods and Christine Woods; brother, Delbert Woods Jr and a granddaughter, Tara Oglesby.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Norwalk Alliance Church, 2755 US Route 250 South, Norwalk. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.

Anna "Else" Doughty
August 6, 2007
Anna “Else” Doughty, age 87, of Fremont, died Monday morning, August 6, 2007 at the Volunteers of America - Bethesda Care Center in Fremont, after a brief illness.
She was born June 18, 1920 in Germany. She was a milliner “hat maker” in Heidelberg, Germany for many years. She was married in 1954 and moved to Norwalk, Ohio where she lived with her family until moving to Twinsburg in 1963. After retirement, she moved to Fremont in 1991. She enjoyed Bingo, knitting, crocheting, crafts and baking.
She is survived by her husband, Walter I. Doughty of Fremont; daughter and son-in-law, Erika and James Gensman of Port Clinton; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Waldtraud and Anna, both of Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Berta Loeffler; and siblings.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.

Robert Williams
August 8, 2007
Robert Williams, age 87, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, August 08, 2007 at the Medical University of Ohio at Toledo.
He was born May 10, 1920 in Shadyside, Ohio to the late John H. Williams and Velma F. (Vanaman) Williams. He served in the US Army during World War II in the European Theatre, and was an ex-prisoner of war. He lived in Wadsworth moved to Norwalk in 1959, and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. He served on the Norwalk City Council as 4th ward councilman, and councilman at large for 14 years, officer with the Huron County Board of Elections and Huron County Democratic Central Committee. He worked 25 years at Clevite Elastomers in Milan as a shipping and receiving manager, retiring in 1983. He also devoted many hours in service to the community.
He was a life member of the Norwalk VFW Post 2743 and past commander of the Huron County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 62. He was a 32 degree member of the Mt. Vernon Lodge 64 F.&A.M, Eastern Star Chapter O.E.S. No. 15 in Norwalk, and the Singara Grotto Shrine Club in Sandusky.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose (Nota) Williams; daughters, Veronica (Richard) Rospert of Norwalk and Loneli (Nathan) Polly of Mayking, KY; sons, John R. (Mary Carol) Williams of Snellville, GA, James C. (Joanne) Williams of Norwalk and Michael H. (Adrienne) Williams of Oxford, OH; brothers, John D. Williams and Karl Williams, both of California; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy, Mary Ellen Williams; brother, Earl Williams.
Friends may call on Sunday from 5 – 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, where a Masonic service will be held at 6:00 P.M.. A funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church, 60 W. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Roger E. Smith, pastor of the Church, will officiate. Private interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Dwayne L. Burson
August 13, 2007
Dwayne L. Burson, age 69, of Norwalk, died Monday morning, August 13, 2007 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
He was born May 29, 1938 in Findlay, OH and was a 1956 graduate of Findlay High School. He served in the Ohio National Guard from 1960 until 1964. He was co-owner and operator of B & R Carpet Care in Norwalk from 1973 until 1996. After retirement, he worked as a maintenance worker at Geo Trac. He attended the Sandusky Community Church of Nazarene in Sandusky, a member of the Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711 and Car Coddler, and was an avid car enthusiast. He enjoyed boating, camping and played drums in his band for 20 years, the High Country Band.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary J. (Willis) Burson of Norwalk; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie (Kent) Sizemore of Findlay, Becky (Craig) Cochran of Findlay, and Darla (Bruce) Swiger of Canton, MI; son and daughter-in-law, Bradley (Marie) Burson of Norwalk; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; mother, Eilene (Haner) Burson of Arizona; half-brother, George Sahadi of Arizona; sister, Joanne Toidmier of Arizona;
He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley E. Burson in 2002.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Pastor Aaron Thacker will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.

Wilma Collier
August 16, 2007
Wilma J. Collier, age 67, of Norwalk, died Thursday morning, August 16, 2007 at her residence in Norwalk.
She was born November 20, 1939 in Norwalk and was a 1957 graduate of St. Paul High School. She worked over 40 years for the Norwalk Furniture Corporation and retired in 1998 as Human Resources Manager. She was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, St. Paul Alumni Association and St. Paul Booster Club. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family, golfing, gardening and playing cards.
She is survived by her brother, Kenneth (Martha) Collier of Bellevue; sisters, Delores Wheeler of Norwalk and Mary (Robert) Stein of Milan; aunt, Sister Leonette Kramer, Sisters of St. Joseph; 8 nieces, 10 nephews and 39 great nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces; and many special friends and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William “Gene” Collier and Helen (Kramer) Collier; and a brother-in-law, Donald Wheeler.
Friends may call on Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 9 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, where a wake service will be held at 8:30 P.M.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk, OH. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Susan A. Gant
August 19, 2007
Susan Ann Gant, age 51, of Norwalk, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at her residence in Norwalk.
She was born March 22, 1956 in Sandusky and was a graduate of Perkins High School. She was a nursing assistant for 26 years for the Ohio Veterans Home, Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Gaymont Nursing Home and also home health care. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, and fishing.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, William C. Gant of Norwalk; daughters, Carol Christie, Alicia (James) Dendinger and Leeanne Sigley, all of Norwalk; nine grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brothers, Tony Conrad and Robert Conrad, both of Sandusky; and a sister, Mary Schreck of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Frances Conrad; sister, Nellie May Morris; grandson, Zachary Russel Lee Christie; and nephew, Joshua Schreck.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. Wayne Mushett will officiate. Private interment will be held at a later date.
