Irene M. Rudler
CONNEAUT - Irene M. Rudler, 86, of Detroit Street, Conneaut, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at her home.
She was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Conneaut, the daughter of Steve and Anna Suech, and was a lifelong Conneaut resident.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church in Conneaut. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, and loved flowers - especially roses - and interior decorating at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Henry L., whom she married 62 years ago; a son, Gary L. of Conneaut; two grandchildren, David Rudler and Dina Lamereaux of St. Louis, Mo.; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and three sisters.
Service is 1 p.m. Monday at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. The Rev. Raymond Thomas, pastor of St. Mary/St. Frances Cabrini parish, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Mausoleum.
Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Conneaut Rescue Squad. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Betty A. Antill
CONNEAUT - Betty A. Antill, 77, formerly of Harbor Street in Conneaut, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Erie, the daughter of Vern and Clara (Ferguson) Crook.
She spent most of her life in Erie, where she worked for Buffalo Molded Plastics. She spent 14 years in Orlando, Fla., working for the Orange County Health Department.
She retired 13 years ago, moving to Conneaut where she was active at the Conneaut Manor.
Survivors include a daughter, Janis Shriner of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, Michael Marche of Conneaut, and Joseph Marche of Orlando; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Antill; and a sister, Marian Cornell.
Private family services will be in Erie Cemetery, Erie, at a later date.
The Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, is in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Sundstrom
CONNEAUT - Margaret Sundstrom, 83, of Parrish Road, Conneaut, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at the Villa at the Lake, Conneaut.
She was born Nov. 18, 1917, in Conneaut, the daughter of John and Fannie (Pitkamaki) Antin, and was a lifelong area resident.
She worked at the former Astatic Corp. as an assembler and retired from Reliance Electric in Ashtabula.
She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years, and also a member of the Good Shepherd Church of Conneaut. She enjoyed dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas of Buffalo, and Ronald of Fajardo, Puerto Rico; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dagmar Bozard of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugo, in August; a sister, Edith Wheeler; and a brother, Karl Antin.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. The Rev. Anthony Dusso, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church of Ashtabula, will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Catherine Luce
CONNEAUT - Catherine Luce, 88, formerly of Parker Street in Conneaut, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the Madison Health Center.
She was born Feb. 4, 1913, in Cleveland, adopted and reared by Bert and Bessie Onion. She lived in the Conneaut area most of her life.
She was a former employee at Bailey's Restaurant and the Silver Diner in Conneaut.
She was a former member of the Conneaut First Assembly of God Church, and enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Joslin of Bradenton, Fla., Betty Morano of Conneaut, and Barbara Daddario of Erie; three sons, Richard M. and Larry, both of Conneaut, and William of Ashtabula; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert; and two daughters, Shirley Martison and Sandra Luce.
A graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville. The Rev. Jack Woods, pastor of the Conneaut First Assembly of God, will officiate.
Charles E. Cramer
CONNEAUT - Charles E. "Pete" Cramer, 65, of North Amboy Road, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Saint Vincent Health Center, in Erie.
Mr. Cramer was born July 15, 1935, in Nectarine, Pa., the son of Gerald Cramer and Grace Hamilton.
A Conneaut resident since 1970, Mr. Cramer served in the U.S. Marines in Korea.
He was a truck driver most of his life.
Mr. Cramer came to Conneaut with Tajon Trucking, later driving for R.W. Sidley and O & P Gas Co of Ashtabula.
He was a member of the Girard Alliance Church of Girard, Pa., Cowle Post 151 of the American Legion, where he served as Honor/Firing Squad and a member of the Conneaut Exchange Club.
He was also active in Masonic affairs, was a member of Orion Lodge F &AM of Kingsville, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, of Cleveland, Zem Zem Temple of Erie, past monarch of El Kadir Grotto, past president of the former Ashtabula County Shrine Club.
He enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles and boating.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, two daughters, Sherry Martello of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Cindy McKinley of North Kingsville; a son Ronald Cramer of Conneaut, his godson Ryan Janda of Conneaut, three grandchildren, two sisters, June Roddy of Nectarine, Pa., and Eva Yard of Whittier, Calif.
Mr. Cramer was preceded in death by his parents and brother Joseph McFadden.
Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Clyde Davis Jr. of the Girard Alliance Church officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, where Cowle Post 151 will provide full military honors.
Calling hours are today from 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. The Orion Lodge 353 F & AM will conduct services at 8:45 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Station 4 of the Conneaut Fire Department or to the family.
Martha Maxwell Davis
CONNEAUT - Martha Maxwell Davis, 99, of Conneaut and Medina, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Samaritan Care Center in Medina.
She was born Jan. 31, 1901, at her family farm in Oriana, Ill., the daughter of Kennedy and Martha Ellen (Ayers) Maxwell.
The family moved to Decatur, Ill., in 1902, and then relocated to Chicago eight years later.
She married Paul Stokes Davis of Conneaut in 1920, two years after she met him at a street dance in Chicago while he was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center.
She moved to Conneaut with her husband in 1920, where she assisted his professional photography business. She also worked as a nurse's aide at Brown Memorial Hospital between 1949 and 1972.
She was noted for her lively sense of humor, and enjoyed telling jokes and stories. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Conneaut.
She moved to Medina in 1980, and lived independently in her own apartment until July 1998.
Survivors include a son-in-law, former Conneaut resident Stanley B. Graham of Medina; grandsons Jeffrey and Douglas Graham; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1949; three brothers, Hugh, Paul and Thomas Fay Maxwell; a daughter, Cynthia Graham, in 1991; and a sister, Gertrude Williams, in 1995.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. The Rev. Walter Coy, pastor of the United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery.
Calling hour at the funeral home is 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service.
