Audrey R. Baudendistel
CONNEAUT - Audrey R. Baudendistel, 75, of West Main Rd., Conneaut, died Tuesday evening, June 10, 2003, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 3, 1928, in Conneaut, a daughter of Thomas J. and Genevieve (Gillette) Mahoney.
A lifelong resident, Mrs. Baudendistel worked at the former Cozy Corner for many years, and was known throughout the area for her organ and piano playing. At one time, she had her own combo known as the "Aud Keys" and played throughout the region, from Erie, PA to Madison. She loved music and dancing and was a member of both the Cleveland and Warren locals of the Musicians Union.
She attended St. Mary Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose Auxiliary, both in Conneaut, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary, both in Bellevue, OH.
Survivors include her husband, Bert E. Baudendistel whom she married in 1971; two sons, Rich Keyser of Euclid, and Tom Keyser of Conneaut; two grandchildren, Crystal Drummer and Kendall Keyser; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Phyllis Surdell; and her brother, Richard P. Mahoney.
Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. The Rev. Raymond Thomas, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, June 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the music department of the Conneaut Community Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Douglas F. Abbey
CONNEAUT - Douglas F. Abbey, 65, of Blair Street, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center, of a probable coronary.
He was born March 20, 1936, in Conneaut, the son of John Abbey and Bernice (Seipler) Spice.
Mr. Abbey was employed for 19 years at Rockwell International, Ashtabula, and was a truck driver for Perk Transport, Conneaut, for the past 10 years.
He enjoyed street rods and attending car shows, snowmobiles, dirt bikes and motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a fan of Dale Earnhart. In his earlier days, he raised and showed horses.
Survivors include his mother of Kingsville Township; his wife, Mary Lou (Weaver) Abbey, whom he married May 30, 1958; two daughters, Stacy Drummond of Monroe Township, and Lori Abbey of Geneva; a son, Douglas F. Jr. of Conneaut; three grandchildren, Walter Perkins Jr., Kyle Perkins, and Rex Michael Drummond; a sister, Melanie Walker of Warren; and two brothers, Chuck Walker of Olympia, Wash., and Bill Walker of Conneaut.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. A memorial gathering will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Action Chore Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Wilber M. Butts
CONNEAUT - Wilber M. Butts, 76, , died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital, Conneaut.
He was born Jan. 11, 1924, in North Springfield, Pa., the son of Milford and Iva Butts.
He attended North Springfield High School, and later enlisted in the Air Force in 1943, serving during World War II. He achieved a staff sergeant's rank, and was honorably discharged in 1945.
He worked briefly for Western & Southern Life Insurance Co., and was owner of the Standard Oil Co. service station at the corner of Route 20 and Liberty Street in Conneaut, which he operated from 1950 until the late 1960s. He retired from Foseco Industries in 1988, after working 18 years as a molder.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Conneaut Moose Club and American Legion Cowle Post 151, and was a lifelong member of the Conneaut Fish and Game Club. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
He enjoyed trap-shooting, gardening, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine (Castrilla, ) whom he married Aug. 19, 1994; four sons, Wilber G. Jr. of Milhal, Pa., and Dennis, Randy and Ronnie, all of Conneaut; five stepchildren, Cynthia Green of Miami, Fla., Anna Porter of Lake City, Pa., and Kathleen Hoyt, Corky Erdman and Van Erdman, all of Conneaut; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marjorie (Hall), in 1993; a brother, Donald; and a grandson, Anthony Butts, in 1992.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Church, Conneaut, with the Rev. Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Conneaut.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Conneaut Fish and Game Club or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Barbara J. Fugate
CONNEAUT - Barbara J. Fugate, 59, of Lake Road, Conneaut, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut of a probable coronary.
She was born March 30, 1943, in Oberlin, the daughter of Chester A. and Helen (Balcomb) Lowery.
Mrs. Fugate was a graduate of Conneaut Valley High School and was employed at Andover Industries.
She had been a Conneaut resident since 1968.
Mrs. Fugate bowled three days a week at El Camp Lanes and enjoyed working on the computer and being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Albert J. Fugate; a daughter, Tina M. Bryant of Chapmanville, W.Va.; a son, William G. Weber of Kingsville; eight sisters, Ruth Connell of Evans City, Pa., Jacqlyn McBride of Conneaut, Carol Bowers of Spartansburg, Pa., Audrey Frost, Betty Phillips, Dorothy Mitchell, Elaine Barnum and Darlene Hicks, all of Conneaut; three brothers, Robert Lowery and Dale Langdon, both of Edinboro, Pa., and John Lowery of Conneaut; and six grandchildren, Meagan and Kelsey Weber, and Herbert, Jacob, Kevin and Benjamin Bryant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Russell Bryant.
Graveside services will be Wednesday in Chapmanville, W.Va.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Paul P. Mako
CONNEAUT - Paul P. Mako, 85, formerly of Pierpont, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at The Villa at the Lake in Conneaut.
He was born April 27, 1917, in Pierpont, the son of Joseph and Anna (Zednick) Mako. He lived in Pierpont for 32 years, moving to the area from Brecksville, where he had resided 20 years. He lived at the Villa the past three months.
He worked at Collier Construction Co. in Strongsville for more than 40 years. He owned and operated Mako Construction Company for 10 years and was retired from the business.
A member of St. Andrews Church in Sheffield, he was an avid hunter and traveled to Montana for several years to hunt elk. He also enjoyed raising and training draft horses.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; a sister, Anna Ware of Conneaut; four grandchildren, William Mako of Jefferson, Robert Mako of Springfield, Ohio, Barbara Douglas of Chardon and Bonnie Freundlich of Clinton, Wash.; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Mako; two brothers, Frank and Joseph Mako; and a sister, Rose Yuhas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church in Conneaut. The Rev. Pastor Raymond Thomas will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.

Mabel I. Forbes
CONNEAUT - Mabel I. Forbes, 87, formerly of Hatches Corners Road, Monroe Township, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at the Harrington Care Home, Conneaut.
She was born Oct. 20, 1913, in Youngstown, the daughter of James E. and Ida P. (Franklin) Ingram.
A Conneaut High School graduate, she was a homemaker and member of the Farnham Birthday Club. She enjoyed ceramics, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Johnson of Raleigh, N.C., and Marsha Huffman of Conneaut; a son, John Hale of Conneaut; two sisters, Nona Gates of Conneaut, and Betty Scott of Geneva; two brothers, Richard Ingram of North Kingsville Township, and Dewey Ingram of Stow; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Preston Hale; her second husband, Norman J. Forbes; two brothers, Earl and Edgar Ingram; and a sister, LaVerne Forbes Ring.
Service is 2 p.m. Monday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. The Rev. David Miller, of Lakeview United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hour is 1 p.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
