Margaret L. Tuttle
CONNEAUT - Margaret L. Tuttle, 88, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at the UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1915, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Walter and Susie (Calloway) Mullen.
A Conneaut resident since childhood, she was a 1933 graduate of Conneaut High School and received her diploma of elementary education in 1936 from Miami University.
She began her teaching career in a one-room school in Monroe Township. She retired from Chestnut Elementary School in 1974 after teaching 25 years in the Conneaut Area School System.
Mrs. Tuttle was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting. She also was an accomplished artist and specialized in painting landscapes.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Hoagland of Conneaut; a son, Larry, also of Conneaut; four grandchildren, Heather Newton, JoAnn Hoagland, Tammy Mann and Amy Hahn; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Gordon M. Tuttle, who died Aug. 16, 1998.
Graveside service is 1 p.m. Wednesday in Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Township.
No service or calling hours will be observed.

Albina M. Anderson
CONNEAUT - Albina M. "Skip" Anderson, 61, of Harbor St., died Saturday Oct. 12, 2002, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
Born in Cleveland Oct. 28, 1940, she was the daughter of LeRoy J. and Sarah (Carlson) James.
She moved to Conneaut at the age of 12 and graduated from the former Rowe High School in 1969.
Mrs. Anderson formerly was employed by C-G Products, of Girard, Pa., was a former member of the St. Gregory Episcopal Church and enjoyed crocheting, bingo and word-seeking puzzles.
She was a den mother for Boy Scout Troop 34 and helped her husband with boy scouting for more than 25 years.
Survivors include her husband, William R. Anderson, who she married June 15, 1968, and a son, LeRoy J. "Lee" Anderson, of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A time of celebration will be held at the United Church of Christ in Conneaut at a time and date to be announced by the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 208 Liberty, Conneaut.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 34. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Barbara J. Fugate
CONNEAUT - Barbara J. Fugate, 59, of Lake Road, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut of a probable coronary.
She was born March 30, 1943, in Oberlin, the daughter of Chester A. and Helen (Balcomb) Lowery.
Mrs. Fugate was a graduate of Conneaut Valley High School and was employed at Andover Industries.
She had been a Conneaut resident since 1968.
Mrs. Fugate bowled three days a week at El Camp Lanes and enjoyed working on the computer and being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Albert J. Fugate; a daughter, Tina M. Bryant of Chapmanville, W.Va.; a son, William Glen Weber of Kingsville; eight sisters, Ruth Connell of Evans City, Pa., Jacqlyn McBride of Conneaut, Carol Bowers of Spartansburg, Pa., Audrey Frost, Betty Phillips, Dorothy Mitchell, Elaine Barnum and Darlene Hicks, all of Conneaut; three brothers, Robert Lowery and Dale Langdon, both of Edinboro, Pa., and John Lowery of Conneaut; and six grandchildren, Meagan and Kelsey Weber, and Herbert, Jacob, Kevin and Benjamin Bryant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandson, Russell Bryant.
Graveside services will be Wednesday in Chapmanville, W.Va.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.

Floyd J. Barris
CONNEAUT - Floyd J. Barris, 69, died Sunday May 12, 2002, at his Lake Road home.
Mr. Barris was born May 29, 1932, in Cleveland, a son of Floyd and Emma (McVeen) Barris.
A 1951 Albion High School graduate, Mr. Barris spent his early life in Conneaut Township, Pa., but moved to Conneaut in 1972.
Mr. Barris was a general superintendent at Linde Air Division of Union Carbide, Ashtabula, until his retirement in 1986.
He started Quality Cleaners, Conneaut, in 1981 and was a consultant for Enberg Enterprises from 1986 to 1991. Mr. Barris was a member of First Assembly of God where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and was chairman of the planning committee for the proposed family activities center.
He enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening and landscaping. He also enjoyed singing and was a member of the Western Reserve men's barbershop chorus of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Palo), whom he married Dec. 30, 1950; a daughter Judy Riddle of Lincoln, Neb.; five sons, Brand of Rome, Ga., Bill of Springfield, Ill.. and Gary, Tom and Tim of Conneaut; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Jack D. Woods of First Assembly of God officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Activity Center Fund of First Assembly of God Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Leah A. Johnson
CONNEAUT - Leah A. Johnson, 97, formerly of Harper Street, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Harrington Care Home, Conneaut, where she had been a resident for the past six years.
She was born June 20, 1904, in Conneaut, the daughter of Bert and Lillian (Skinner) Smith, and was a lifelong Conneaut area resident.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the United Church of Christ, the American Red Cross Auxiliary, and the Gray Ladies of Brown Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed traveling and playing pinochle.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Godzak of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Howard W. of Conneaut; and three grandchildren, Steven Godzak, Judy Hayes and Patricia Lachance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul; and a sister, Geraldine Hawkins.
Service is 1 p.m. Thursday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Walter Coy of the United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.

Kenneth O. Carle
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Kenneth O. Carle, 89, formerly of Kingsville Township, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, Ga.
He was born March 23, 1913, in Ashtabula, the son of Harris Ordel and Bessie (Hoskins) Carle, and spent most of his life in Kingsville. He moved to Augusta in 1993.
He owned and operated Carle's Auto Service.
He was a member of Kingsville Presbyterian Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church in Georgia, and was a member of Orion Lodge Free &Accepted Masons 353, Kingsville Township.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Carle-Williams of Martinez, Ga.; three sons, Kenneth of Greensburg, N.C., Richard of Madison, Ala., and Robert of Kenmore, N.Y.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Francis Buck.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Viola (Palmer) Carle.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 3056 W. Main St., Kingsville Township, with the Rev. Bonnie Habbersett officiating. Burial will be in Lulu Falls Cemetery, Kingsville Township.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.
