Aino V. Laitinen
CONNEAUT - Aino V. Laitinen, 81, of Buffalo Street, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital, Conneaut.
She was born March 9, 1921, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Victor and Katie (Wirtamo) Puhakka and moved to Conneaut as a child.
Mrs. Laitinen was a Conneaut High School graduate and attended Suomi College in Michigan for one year. She was a 30-year employee of the former Astatic Corp.
She was a active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Women's Circle and Quilters Group. She played the piano for the church while her father was choir director.
She enjoyed flowers, traveling and her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard M., whom she married June 4, 1944; a daughter, Linda Bennett of Conneaut; two granddaughters, Cathy Markielowski and Lorrie Wallace; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Andrew, in infancy.
Service is 11 a.m., Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 876 Grove St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Clyde McGee officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Conneaut.
Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Quilter's of the church.

Gladys O. Pazenski
CONNEAUT - Gladys O. Pazenski, 91, of Cummins Avenue, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at her home.
She was born Feb. 3, 1911, in Union City, Pa., the daughter of Monroe H. and Maude (Houston) Bush. She had formerly lived in Erie and Union City, Pa.
She worked as a receptionist for the Union City Senior Center.
Mrs. Pazenski enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis, with whom she made her home; three grandchildren, Becky Hess, Linda Jones, and Jack Garrity Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; and a son, Calvin E. Davis, in infancy.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City, Pa.
The Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, has charge of the arrangements.

Thomas J. Perkoski
CONNEAUT - Thomas J. Perkoski, 80, of Lake Road, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at his home.
The son of Peter and Mary Perkoski, he was born July 25, 1920, in Conneaut. He lived in the Conneaut area his entire life.
Mr. Perkoski owned and operated Perkoski's Pharmacy in Conneaut from 1952 until 1980, when he joined the Ashtabula Kmart as a pharmacist.
He was a 1947 graduate of Ohio Northern University, receiving a bachelor's degree in pharmacology. He was a 1938 graduate of Conneaut High School.
Mr. Perkoski was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as an assistant field surgeon with the Medical Corps, as a paratrooper and as a Paraglider Infantryman with the 13th Airborne, later known as the 82nd Airborne Division. He served in both the European Theater and the North African Campaign.
He was a member of the American Legion Cowle Post 151 for more than 50 years, a member of St. Mary's Church and of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Survivors include one daughter, Marianne Downey of Capital, Calif.; two sons: Thomas J. Jr. of Chardon and John F. of Conneaut; four sisters: Ann Field and Sophie Seager, both of Conneaut, Betty Gruey of Erie and Frances Gassner of Houston; and four grandchildren: Charlotte, Margaret, Nicole and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loretta; and one brother, John.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be after services Monday at the home of Ann Field, the deceased's sister.
Contributions may be made to Conneaut Station 3 Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, which is in charge of arrangements.

Eugene G. Correy
CONNEAUT - Eugene G. Correy, 73, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at the Inn-Conneaut Health Center.
The son of Eugene J. and Margaret (Mello) Correy, he was born Dec. 22, 1926 in Conneaut.
Mr. Correy attended St. Mary Elementary School, and was a 1944 graduate of Conneaut High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran in World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Mr. Correy became a barber in the late 1940's and opened the City Barber Shop in Conneaut, which he operated for years.
He was a member and past president of the Conneaut Optimist Club, of the American Legion Cowle Post 151, and of the Catholic Youth Organization church program at St. Mary. He enjoyed traveling with his family, sightseeing, and puzzles.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Kretowciz), whom he married July 17, 1948; two sons: Dennis and Martin, both of Conneaut; and one daughter, Donna of Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 480 State St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.
Contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.

Elizabeth E. "Betty" Phillips
CONNEAUT - Elizabeth E. "Betty" Phillips, 61, of Burrington Heights, Conneaut, OH, died Wednesday evening, August 13, 2003, at her home.
She was born on September 16, 1941 in Cleveland, a daughter of Chester Albert and Marian B. (Gollmer) Lowery.
She was a graduate of Conneaut Valley High School in Crawford County, PA. After working for a number of years at the former Webb Manufacturing in Conneaut, she received a year's training in semi truck driving. She then was employed as a long distance truck driver for 15 years by Schneider National Trucking Company until retiring on disability 2 years ago.
She was a member of the Albion Church of the Nazarene in Albion, PA, and Senior Citizens Plus. She enjoyed driving her semi and spending time with her family.
Survivors include four daughters, Beth Ann E. Kean of Edinboro, PA, Brenda Lee Sass, and Beverly M. Lewis of Conneaut, and Bonnie L. Skelton of Cambridge Springs, PA; two sons, Robert R. Phillips of Albion, PA, and Brian K. Phillips of Conneaut; seven sisters, Ruth Connell of Evans City, PA, Carol Bowers of Spartansburg, PA, Jacqlyn McBride, Audrey Frost, Dorothy Mitchell, Elaine Barnum, and Darlene Hicks, all of Conneaut; three brothers, Robert Lowery of Edinboro, PA, John Lowery, and Dale Langdon, both of Conneaut; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Matthew Hebden; and a sister, Barbara J. Fugate.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2003, at the Albion Church of the Nazarene, 9580 Route 6 North, Albion, PA (4 miles south of I-90). The Reverend Wayne Hennon, pastor of the church, will officiate. Following cremation, burial will be in Crossingville Cemetery, Crossingville, PA.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2003, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty Street, Conneaut, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Albion Church of the Nazarene. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.

George A. Simpson
CONNEAUT - George A. Simpson, Jr., 52, of Conneaut, OH, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at the V.A. Medical Center in Erie, PA. He was born July 14, 1950, in Gadsden, AL, the son of George A. and Romie (Tippins) Simpson, Sr.
Mr. Simpson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Viet Nam era. He moved to Conneaut from Alabama ten years ago, and was a construction worker. He enjoyed Nascar racing, internet games, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Donna (Hughes) Osborne Simpson, whom he married April 12, 1988; his daughter, Tonya (Matt) Riggs of Greenville, TN; three stepdaughters, Tammy (Delbert) Curtis, Debbie Rhodes, and Shari (Berry) Bartosh, all of Conneaut; son, Brett Paul Simpson; two stepsons, Kevin (Debra) Osborne and Brian (Shauna) Osborne, all of Conneaut; two sisters, June Thompson of Tuscaloosa, AL and Nancy Epperson of Huntsville, AL; twenty two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, June 16, in East Conneaut Cemetery. Rev. Mae Lantzer of Everybody's Tabernacle will officiate. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, June 16, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.

Helen H. Colver
CONNEAUT - Helen H. Colver, 97, of Parrish Rd., Conneaut, died Saturday morning, June 14, 2003, at The Villa at the Lake. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH.

Leah A. Johnson
CONNEAUT - Leah A. Johnson, 97, formerly of Harper Street in Conneaut, died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Harrington Care Home in Conneaut, where she had lived the past six years.
She was born June 20, 1904, in Conneaut, a daughter of Bert and Lillian (Skinner) Smith, and had been a lifelong Conneaut area.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ, the American Red Cross Auxiliary and the Gray Ladies of Brown Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed traveling and playing pinochle.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Godzak of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Howard W. Johnson of Conneaut; and three grandchildren, Steven Godzak, Judy Hayes and Patricia Lachance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Johnson; and a sister, Geraldine Hawkins.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Cemetery in Conneaut. The Rev. Walter Coy, of the United Church of Christ, will officiate.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the recreational fund at the Harrington Care Home. Envelopes will be available at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
