John Q. Snyder
CONNEAUT - John Q. Snyder, 88, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Inn-Conneaut Health Center.
He was born May 6, 1914, to Grover and Mary (Ring) Snyder.
Survivors include brother Jack Snyder of Tennessee; sons Charles W. Snyder, George M. Snyder and Jack W. Snyder, all of Conneaut; daughters Ruth A. Watson and Judy Kay Westerburg, both of Conneaut; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Norman Snyder, half-brother Roger Phelps and son Dalton Ray Snyder.
Mr. Snyder donated his body for medical research at Case Western Reserve University. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ralph F. Bonham
BELLA, W.Va. - Ralph Ford Bonham, 84, of Bella, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston after a short illness.
He was a member of the Witcher Baptist Church, and formerly was from Ashtabula, where he was a deacon for the Ashtabula First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, David Bonham of Greenbay, Wis.; three daughters, Pauletta Phillips and Sandra Bonham, both of Kissimmee, Fla., and Jenny Fortune of Inman, S.C.; three brothers, Victor Bonham of Diamond, W.Va.; Curtis Bonham of Witcher, W.Va.; and Jim Bonham of Ripley, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Mae; and two sons, Ralph Jackson and Robert Lee Bonham.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Witcher Baptist Church, Witcher, W.Va., with the Rev. Bernard Toppings officiating.
Burial will be in Witcher Cemetery.
Calling hours will be after 7 p.m. today at Fidler and Frame Funeral Home, 1126 E. Dupont Ave., Belle, W.Va., and one hour prior to service time at the church.

Joyce A. Jenkins
CONNEAUT - Joyce A. Jenkins, 66, of Furnace Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at her home.
The daughter of Glenn and Bernice (Tuttle) Dalrymple, she was born June 15, 1934, in Conneaut. She was an area resident all her life.
Mrs. Jenkins was employed with various area restaurants as a cook, and at one time, owned and operated Joyce's Diner along State Street in Conneaut. She sold Avon products, and was a member of Conneaut Fire Department 4 Auxiliary.
She enjoyed time with her family, crafting, camping, visiting casinos in Niagara Falls and Atlantic City. She assisted her first husband with the operation of J & J Glass and Screens.
Survivors include her husband, Benjamin B., whom she married April 9, 1982; one daughter, Jody Rustic of Conneaut; two sons: Joseph R. Shuster Jr. of Conneaut and Jay J. Shuster of Lake City, Pa.; three grandchildren: Leonard, Nicole and Jay Jr.; four sisters: Susan Lower and Mary Morisue, both of Pierpont, Pat English of Kingsville and Betty Fox of Conneaut; and three brothers: Bob of Phoenix, Ariz., and Glenn Jr. and Jim of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph R. Shuster Sr.; her parents; and two sisters: Evelyn Buie and Pauline Peterson.
Graveside services will be t 11 a.m. Friday in East Conneaut Cemetery, with the Rev. Ash Welch, pastor of East Conneaut United Methodist Church, officiating.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St. Conneaut.
Contributions may be given to the family.
Albert A. Norton Jr.
CONNEAUT - Albert A. Norton, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000 at UHHS-Brown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Norton was born in Erie, Pa. July 25, 1910, the son of Albert A. and Lillian (Veight) Norton, Sr., he had lived most of his life in Conneaut, and spent his early years in West Springfield, Pa.
Mr. Norton was employed by the B&LE Railroad for over 40 years as a car inspector He also worked several years at Allied resinous Products. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, where he served as an usher and greeter for over 50 years. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being with his grandchildren. He was a member of the National rifle Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Hutchens of Conneaut, and Linda Molner of Mareno Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren; twin brother Arthur of Conneaut; brother William of Conneaut; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen; and daughter Marjorie Barringer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Walter Coy, pastor of the United Methodist Church officiating. Internment will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
The family suggests that contributions be made in his name to Conneaut Station #3.
Jessica E. Baker
CONNEAUT – Jessica E. Baker, 23, of High Street, died Monday, April 14, 2003, at University Hospital of Cleveland following a one-week illness.
She was born September 5, 1979, in Willoughby, the daughter of Leonard Sr. and Sharon Lee (Murray) Baker. She was a resident of Conneaut for the past four years and had spent most of her life in the Pierpont area.
Jessica was a graduate of Happy Hearts School in Kingsville and was employed as a jewelry box maker at Ash/Craft Industries. She enjoyed shopping, going to dances, talking on the phone, and spending time with her boyfriend and her family, especially with her mother.
Survivors include her parents; four sisters, Ericka Baker of Ashtabula, Ashley Baker of Conneaut, Debra Durkin of Jefferson, and Sherry Davis of Cleveland; two brothers, Greg and Leonard Baker Jr. of Euclid; and a niece, Mackenzie Baker Reen.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m., at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., with the Rev. John Stevenson, youth minister of the Church of God of Prophecy, officiating. Burial will follow at East Conneaut Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the children at Happy Hearts School. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Donald P. Matteson
CONNEAUT - Donald Phillip Matteson, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at the Hospice unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born April 26, 1919, in Geneva, the son of Phillip and Pearl (Klingler) Matteson and had been a lifelong area resident.
A World War II veteran, he worked as a motor assembler at Reliance Electric Co., for 33 years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Matteson was a member of Conneaut's First Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed reading, drawing, working in the yard and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, the former Violet Gruening; a daughter, Debbie Picard of Jefferson; and two grandchildren, Cassi and Andy Picard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday at Potti Lakeside Funeral Home, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula. The Rev. Kenneth Roberts and the Rev. Jack Cook will officiate. Burial will be at North Kingsville's Eastlake Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice unit at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
