Donna Haytcher
October 23, 1933 - February 16, 2012
Donna Haytcher, age 78, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 23, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Arthur and Eva (Furry) Sarvary. Donna married her husband, Harry on Sept. 19, 1953.
Donna had worked as an insurance agent and secretary for the Peterka Insurance Company of Ashtabula. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her sons, Scott and Bruce Haytcher, both of Ashtabula; brother, James A. Sarvary of Arizona; and grandchildren, Bethany and Brian Haytcher and Sara Wishusen.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Harry in 2010.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Avenue, Ashtabula, OH 44004. Rev. Larry Mackey will officiate.

Edgar A. Boggs
CONNEAUT - Edgar A. Boggs, 69, of Lakeview Avenue, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at his home.
Born Dec. 26, 1933, in West Springfield, Pa., the son of Abner and Drusella (Tallhemer) Boggs, he had lived in this area all his life.
Mr. Boggs was employed by Foseco Inc., of Conneaut, for 20 years, and sailed the Great Lakes for Cleveland Cliffs for 19 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served two years as a military policeman. He enjoyed his family; grandchildren; and sports, especially the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife, W. Marie, to whom he had been married for 40 years; one daughter, Gina (Richard) DeNunzio, of Conneaut; one son, Kenneth A. (Jennifer) Boggs, of Goose Creek, S.C.; six grandchildren, Megan, Nicholas, Sarah and Matthew DeNunzio, and Kyle and James Boggs; three sisters, Frances Metcalf of Ashtabula, Doris Lemmo of Tennessee, and Betty Kahler of Conneaut; and two brothers, Ralph of West Springfield, and Alfred of Cooperstown, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, George, Kenneth and James.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Richard J. Holmes
EUCLID - Richard J. Holmes Sr., 59, of Conneaut, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at the home of his daughter.
He was born July 21, 1943, in Salem, the son of Bertrum Holmes and Helen Felde, and had been a Conneaut resident most of his life.
A graduate of Boys Town School, in Boys Town, Neb., he worked for many years at the P&C Dock Co., in Conneaut.
Mr. Holmes was veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, golf, shooting pool and machine bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Carol (Barnard) Holmes, and his two children, Heather Holmes of Euclid, and Joe Holmes of Everett, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Felde.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 25, 2003, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
A service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. Philip Miller, pastor of St. Joseph Church, will preside. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Charles E. Speer
CONNEAUT - Charles E. Speer, 69, of Conneaut, died early Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
Born on January 2, 1934, the son of Edgar C. and Madeline (Slocum) Speer.
He was a 1952 graduate of Conneaut High School. Mr. Speer went on to sail the Great Lakes briefly and worked a short time for Strong Steam in Conneaut. Later he drove trucks for Morton's and Carling Black Label Distributors. He also worked for the City of Conneaut at the sewage treatment plant as a plant operator. He then went on to work at the Cleveland Illuminating Co. for more than 27 1/2 years, retiring in July of 1993.
Mr. Speer was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Conneaut. He was a member of the former Lagooner's, the Junior Chamber of Commerce and was a lifetime member of the Lake Erie Boat Club. Charlie loved the beauty of Chris Craft antique wooden boats. He restored many of them to their original showroom conditions and enjoyed showing and driving them for many years on Lake Erie. He also enjoyed building model cars and was very active in the Lake Erie Boat Club and spending time at the lake with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette (Naylor) Speer, whom he married June 5, 1954, at St. Mary Church in Conneaut; two sons, Phillip (Judy) Speer, of Manhattan, Kan., and Andrew Speer of Mentor; three daughters, Pamela Bolinger of Painesville, Paula (Donald) DeMarco of Fredericktown, and Mary McCoy of Columbus; two sisters, Clarice Stewart of Conneaut, and Cathryn Davis, of Las Cruces, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his favorite dog, Sandy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2003, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2003, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Raisian Family Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.
Memorial contributions may be made to Station 3 Rescue Squad or to the charity of one's choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Methel R. Kitchen
CONNEAUT - Methel R. Kitchen, 85, formerly of Sherman Street, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 12, 1917, in Monroe Township, a daughter of Cary and Mary (Dittler) Van Skoik.
Mrs. Kitchen graduated with special honors from Conneaut High School in 1936. She was employed at the former W.T. Grant department store and as an office manager for Eazor Trucking.
She attended Lakeview United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Moose and Eagle club auxiliaries and a member of the Hammonds Corners Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed wallpapering, doing search-and-find puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
Since October 2001, Mrs. Kitchen had lived at The Villa at the Lake, where she enjoyed stretching class, dominoes, bingo, crafts and concerts.
Survivors include her three daughters, Nora Peck of Brooksville, Fla., and Norma Jean Howland and Barbara Godfrey, both of Conneaut; two sons, Wendell of North Kingsville, and Charles of Conneaut; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ed and Raymond; and two sisters, her twin, Ethel, and Bertha.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. The Rev. David Miller, of Lakeview United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the mausoleum at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours are noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Carl Lee Ashby Jr.
VICKSBURG, Miss. - Carl Lee Ashby Jr., 25, of Vicksburg, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, as a result of an automobile accident in Tallulah, La.
Mr. Ashby was a native of Conneaut, he had been a resident of Vicksburg for 19 years. He was the son of Carl and Patricia Ashby of Vicksburg.
Mr. Ashby graduated from Vicksburg High School and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was employed at Super Junior Food Store.
Mr. Ashby was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Shiloh Hunting Club and Goodrum Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents; sister, Pamela Beck of Vicksburg; paternal grandparents, Frank and Otta Sue Ashby of Parson, W. Va., and maternal great-grandmother Martha Kantola of Kingsville and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Doris Tuttle.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Barb-Greenlief Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roger Hogle of South Ridge Baptist Church, Conneaut, officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain State Memorial Gardens, Gilman, W. Va.
Calling hours will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of service at the Barb-Greenlief Funeral Home.
Linda A. Catalano
CONNEAUT - Linda A. Catalano, 52, of Conneaut, died Monday, May 21, 2001, at her home.
Born Dec. 28, 1948, in Conneaut, she was a daughter of Neil and Vera Irene (Lane) Howland.
A graduate of Northwestern High School, Albion, Pa., she was a lifelong resident of Springfield, Pa., and Conneaut. She had worked for a number of years as a waitress at the Silver Diner, Conneaut, and later was an employee of Emsco Plastics.
Mrs. Catalano was active at Amboy United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed socializing with friends, crocheting, reading, singing karaoke and was an avid songwriter.
Survivors include her father and stepmother, Mary Howland of East Springfield; a stepdaughter, Danielle Catalano of Lakewood; a sister, June Hensel of Guilford Lake; three brothers, Ronald Howland of Amarillo, Texas, Donald Howland of Kingsville Township and David Howland of West Springfield, Pa., and a stepsister, Bonnie Ridenour of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B., on Aug. 5, 1990; and her mother on March 29.
Memorial service is 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Amboy United Methodist Church, Route 20 W., Conneaut, with the Rev. Michael Grant officiating. A time of fellowship will be held at the chuch following the service.
No calling hours will be observed.
