Vera I. Howland
CONNEAUT - Vera I. Howland, 70, of Broad Street, Conneaut, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 29, 1931, in Conneaut, the daughter of William O. and Pearl Mae (Fultz) Lane, and had lived in the Conneaut and Springfield, Pa., area her entire life.
She worked more than 50 years as a waitress at the Silver Diner and Blue Moon restaurants.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed embroidery and being with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, June Hensel of Guilford Lake, and Linda Catalano of Conneaut; three sons, Ronald of Amarillo, Texas, Donald of Conneaut and David of West Springfield, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Overstreet of Conneaut, Valetta Smegal of Florida, and Vivian Sandella of Ashtabula; and a brother, Larry Lane of New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clarence and Norwood Lane.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. The Rev. Robert Klingler, pastor of the West Springfield United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at City Cemetery in Conneaut.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Pamela R. Greenslade
CONNEAUT - Pamela R. Greenslade, 49, E. Main Road, Conneaut, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital.
Born July 27, 1951, she was the daughter of Paul and Georgene (Curtis) Irish. She lived in Conneaut all her life.
Mrs. Greenslade was employed as a press operator for Andover Industries.
She enjoyed bingo, bowling, reading and watching little league baseball and football.
Survivors include her husband, David H. of Ashtabula; one son, David P. of Conneaut; one sister, Kim St. Marie of Pensacola, Fla.; and one brother, Jeff Irish of Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be at a later date and will be announced by the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.
Ida (Rasey) Bagnall
CONNEAUT Ida (Rasey) Bagnall, 84, of North Amboy Road, Conneaut, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, in UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital, Conneaut.
Born Dec. 5, 1915, in Monroe Center, she was the daughter of Thomas and Laura (Hall) Rasey. She has lived in the area all her life.
Mrs. Bagnall was employed by the former Astatic Corp. as a machine operator for 30 years.
She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and in her leisure time, she enjoyed bird watching, being with her family and grandchildren, as well as watching the Cleveland Indians on television.
Survivors include one daughter, June Shauberger of North Kingsville; two sons, Woodrow W. Jr. and Claude J., both of Grand Blank, Mich.; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodrow W. Sr.; one son, Thomas Bagnall; one grandson, Mark L. Shauberger; one sister, Isabella Seibert; and two brothers, Stanley and Vern Rasey.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 248 Buffalo St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Anne Bump officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Thompson-Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.
I. Stanley Kent
CONNEAUT - I. Stanley Kent, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at University Hospital in Cleveland, where he had been a patient for the last three weeks.
He was born June 28, 1914 in Conneaut, the son of Irus C. and Nettie B. (Eaton) Kent.
Mr. Kent was employed for 13 years in the boiler shop at the former Nickel Plate Railroad, and then worked as an installer at the Conneaut Telephone Company for 25 years. He was a member of the East Conneaut United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Moose Club and East Conneaut Firefighters Association. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, sports, and woodworking. He was also a member of the East Conneaut Old-Timers, a monthly luncheon group.
Survivors include his wife, Wanetta M. (Bates) Kent, whom he married July 2, 1938; a son, Robert S. of Toledo; and five grandchildren, Irus, Scott D., Michelle R., Jared A., and Adam M.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son at birth; two brothers, Clifford E., and Duane C.; and a sister, Theo M. Cole.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. The Rev. Peg Welch of East Conneaut United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Tenho Vern Jarvinen
CONNEAUT – Tenho V. Jarvinen, age 74, of Conneaut, died early Thursday, November 25, 2004 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Tenho was born on May 30, 1930 on Drummond Island, Michigan, the son of the late Tenho and Miho “Hilma” Jarvinen.
Tenho was the apartment manager for the Pamela Park Estates in Conneaut. He served 25 years in the military. He served nine years with the Army and 16 with the Air Force. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the American Legion.
Besides his parents, Tenho was preceded in death by his sister, Gertrude Griffin.
Tenho is survived by his wife, Fern E. (Payne) Jarvinen and four children, Phyllis Jarvinen and her husband Mark Sandell of Wisconsin, Joellen Beaudoin and her husband Robert of Phoenix, AZ, Donald Jarvinen and his wife, Bobbie Jean of S. Dakota and Gayle Jarvinen of California; two step children, James Breedon of Lake City, FL and Marian Hoadley and her husband, Robert of Geneva; three sisters, Bertha Gilbert of Drummond Island, MI, Helen Laakso and Lillian Anderson, both of St. Ignas, MI; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Jessica Smith and a great granddaughters, Kelsie.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with full Military Honors will be provided by the Erie/Crawford Burial Detail and will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at the JEAN EVANS THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME, 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa. Officiated by Rev. Jimmy Walker of the Peoples Church in Geneva.

Carmen C. (Pudge) Coppola
CONNEAUT - CARMEN C. (PUDGE) COPPOLA, age 74 of Conneaut, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the University Hospitals in Cleveland.
Mr. Coppola was born August 16, 1929 in Conneaut the son of Andrew and Emma (Chiarulli) Coppola. He was a 1947 graduate of Conneaut High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1948. Following an honorable discharge in 1952, he went on to work at the former Nickel Plate Railroad as a machinist. In 1957 he went to work at R.M.I. Metals Plant also as a machinist until his retirement in 1990.
Pudge was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, a life member of the East Ashtabula Club, the Veterans of Foreign War, the Conneaut Moose Club and the Conneaut American Legion Cowle Post 151. He also enjoyed golf and bowling and years ago playing croquet at the Dean Avenue school grounds with his friends. Pudge loved to play cards with his friends and spending time with his family, friends and his special grandson, J.R.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Christopher in 2001; and his family dog, Major.
Mr. Coppola is survived by his wife, Amy Simone, whom he married September 30, 1957 at St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church; two daughters, Kim (and Jim) Jury and Debra Coppola, all of Conneaut; and grandson J.R. Jury.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, Conneaut with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Conneaut, with the American Legion Honor Squadron conducting full military rites.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor Street, Conneaut.
