Doris S. Johnson, 93 of Pennsylvania Ave. Ashtabula died Sunday (Nov. 20th) at the Carrington Park Nursing Home in Ashtabula. She was born January 13, 1918 In Ashtabula the daughter of Clyde B. and Edith Mary (Clark) Johnson and has been a lifetime are resident.
She had graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1936 and had worked for Ohio Bell and what is now Windstream until her retirement in 1979 as an operator.
She was a former member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church; a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; a member of the YMCA and she was a former resident of Hallwood in Saybrook Township. She and her twin sister, Lois enjoyed playing Golf and had played at many of the local courses.
Surviving her are six nieces and nephews, Joann Shanker, Donald W. Johnson II, Brenda Headley, Sharon Hughes, Jo Ann Petro and Clarence “Bud” Turnquist and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert Johnson, Milton Johnson, Donald Johnson during World War II and Neil “Butch” Johnson during World War II; her twin sister, Lois S. Johnson in January of 2011 and by a niece, Sandra Pallutch in 2006.
A memorial service will be Wednesday (Nov. 23rd) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with her nephew, Deacon Donald W. Johnson II officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hour will be Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to The Parkinson’s Association; American Diabetes Association; the American Heart Association or to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available t the funeral home.
She lived life to the fullest and she fought the good fight, she has finished the race and she has kept the faith.
Jane C Brigham

Jane C. Brigham, “Grandma Brigham” 72 of East 38th St. Ashtabula died Monday (Nov. 14th) at her home. She was born June 30, 1939 in Ashtabula the daughter of Ernest M and Wanda Juanita (Schwartz) Mosher and has been a lifetime area resident.
She had worked at GE in Jefferson. She had also sold diapers and organized children’s parties were she was a clown and a ventriloquist.. She enjoyed cooking and painting and she signed her paintings, Jane Brigham, ” Angel Artist”. She also enjoyed going to casinos with her daughter and her sisters. She had a strong faith and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving her is her son Robert (Diana) Brigham of Jefferson; a daughter, Chris (Paul) McNally of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Bridget Bordeaux, Brandon Brigham,, Lindsay Coffman and Brittany McNally; seven great-grandchildren, Savanna, Hannah, Madison, Tatum, Austin, Payten and Brielle; and eight sisters, Joyce Tucker of Willoughby, Jeanette McCoy of North Kingsville, Diana Nejbauer of North Kingsville, Donna Juras of Ashtabula, Terri DeGeorge of North Kingsville, Shirley Woissel of Ashtabula, Debbie Nelson of Ashtabula and Denise Cross of Ashtabula. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Linn E. Brigham in 1980 whom she always looked forward to reuniting with; a brother, Ernest “Buster” Mosher and a sister, Pearl Hamm.
Funeral service will be Friday (Nov. 18th) at 11:00 AM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 West Jefferson St. Jefferson, Ohio with Rev. Bill McMinn of the Eagleville Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in Eagleville Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday (Nov. 17th) from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Clement J Firlotte

Clement J. Firlotte, 92 formerly of Ashtabula passed away on Tues, Nov. 15th .
Born May 18, 1919, in New Brunswick Canada, the son of Alphonse and Florence (Bertin) Furlotte.
Clem was a veteran of the Canadian Army. He served six years with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and was active during World War II; his army service took him into the Normandy Invasion.
On August 23, 1943, he married his WWII bride, Josephine T. Doyle, in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.
Upon arriving from Canada in 1950, the family settled in Ashtabula. He, and his wife, Josephine, became American citizens in 1953, and were lifetime area residents thereafter. Mr. Firlotte was employed as a service technician at The East Ohio Gas Company until his retirement. Clem’s pastimes included woodworking, watching the Cleveland Indians Baseball, traveling to visit relatives in Canada and Florida; driving through covered bridges including Smolen Gulf Covered Bridge in which his son-in-law engineered.
Clem attended St. Joseph Calasanctius Church in Jefferson where he and his wife were also Eucharistic ministers. In 1998, both he and his wife Josephine celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary. Mr. Firlotte also enjoyed activities for ten years with many dear friends at the Jefferson Senior Center. In his ninetieth year, he moved to the Austinburg Assisted Living which gave him great care and a comfortable home.
The best time of all, however, was the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at many family gatherings. Clem was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by family and friends, and will always have a special place within our hearts.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, in 1999; grandson, Matthew Michael Firlotte, in infancy; a sister, Ida Fraser; and brothers Armand Furlotte and Alonzo Furlotte.
Survivors include his son, Clement (Kathleen) Firlotte of Medina; a daughter Marie (John) Smolen of Jefferson; a niece, Ilishe (Mark) Mikos of Aikens, N.C.; grandchildren Aaron, Sean, Danny, Colleen and Michael Firlotte of Medina, Kristin (Dave) Carrel of Willoughby, Julie (Mark) Forgach of Toledo, and Andrew (Cassie) Smolen of Jefferson; great-granchildren Molly, Heidi, and Mara Forgach of Toledo and Anderson and Kipton Smolen of Jefferson and a brother, Allan Furlotte, of Canada.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday (Nov. 19th) at 1:30 P.M. at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, Jefferson, with Father Charles Poore as celebrant. Burial to follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the service at 1:30 at the church. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson Community Senior Center, 11 East Jefferson St., Jefferson, O. 44047 or Ashtabula American Red Cross, 433 Center St., Ashtabula, O. 44004. Gary L Guest, 65 of Sherman St. Conneaut died Thursday (Nov. 17th) at University Hospitals Conneaut Medical Center. He was born October 21, 1946 in Chula Vista, California the son of Howard L. and Jean Guest.
He had worked for over 40 years for the Ashtabula County Highway Department as the Lift Bridge Supervisor. He is a member of BPOE # 208 of Ashtabula and a member of the Marine Museum.
Surviving him is his Aunt, Betty Mead of Jefferson, Ohio and his special friends who he lived with, Timothy and Teacha Campbell and their children, Tyler and Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be Tuesday (Nov. 22nd) at 11:00 AM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 West Jefferson St. Jefferson, Ohio with Rev. Gordon Emerson officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery in New lyme, Ohio.
Calling hour will be Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Marine Museum in Ashtabula, Ohio.
Delores J Warriner

Delores J. Warriner, 80 of Buffalo St. Conneaut, Ohio died Thursday (Nov. 17th) at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. She was born December 1, 1930 in Niagra Falls, New York.
She had worked for the Ashtabula Area City Schools until her retirement. She enjoyed Bingo, going to casinos and spending time with her family.
Surviving her is her son, Kenny R. Warriner of Williamsfield; two daughter, Mary Ann Stanis of Conneaut and Rebecca (Dean) Wilcox of Granite Falls, North Carolina, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Georgine Evans of Rock Creek and Joan Morrison of Plymouth Twp. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Warriner in 1994; a granddaughter, Kathryn Stanis in 1999 and two sister, Margaret and Eleanor.
Graveside services will be Monday (Nov. 21st) at 2:00 PM at Maple Grove Cemetery, State Rd. Plymouth Twp with Rev. David Evans of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church officiating.
The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.
Rose V. King
ORLANDO, Fla. - Rose V. King, 85, died March 25, 2003, in Orlando.
She was born May 10, 1917, in Ashtabula, to Nick and Filomena (Ray) Corrado. She was a lifelong resident of Ashtabula.
Mrs. King was last employed as the manager of the Army-Navy Union, which she helped found and organize.
She enjoyed bowling and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Survivors, all from the Orlando area, include a son, Jack Pfetsch; two granddaughters, Christine Tharp and Catherine Holder; and three grandsons, Joshua, Nathaniel and James.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Alvira Paulchel, Mary Paulchel and Ann Rizzo; a brother, Joe Corrado; her first husband, John Pfetsch, in 1968; and her second husband, Cyril King, in 1979.
A family Mass was in Orlando on April 4, 2003. A committal service is 9 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow the service.
Instead of giving flowers, the family asks that donations in her name be made to SS. John and Paul Catholic School, 2150 Columbus Ave., Ashtabula, 44004.
