Evelyn Patterson
GENEVA - Evelyn Patterson, 92, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at the Rae Ann Nursing Home in Geneva.
She was born March 8, 1909, in Cleveland.
Mrs. Patterson was a homemaker. She enjoyed music and reading.
She was an active member of the Hartsgrove Community United Church of Christ, the Hartsgrove Fire Department Auxiliary "Sparks, " and a member of the Blue Stockings.
Survivors include her stepsister, Dorothy, of Florida; and her nephew, Wilbur Poyer of Hartsgrove.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Emil, who died on March 21, 1988.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Hartsgrove Community Church. The Rev. Judy Bonner of the church will officiate. Interment will be in the Hartsgrove Center Cemetery in Hartsgrove.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements were made by the Paine-Simpson Funeral Home, 140 E. Main St., Orwell.
Theodore L. Bush III
GENEVA - Theodore L. "Bud" Bush III, 74, of Austin Road, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born April 30, 1927, in Ashtabula, the son of Theodore L. and Catherine (Jackson) Bush II.
He had previously lived in Ashtabula before moving to Geneva 54 years ago
Mr. Bush was a carpenter for 35 years, working for the Carpenters Union Local 95, Mentor.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II in the military police stationed in France and Germany.
He enjoyed any type of gardening, carpentry and for the past 10 years walked at Geneva State Park.
Survivors include his wife, Bea; two daughters, Sandra Lee Summers of Geneva, Dianna Lynn Walton of Saybrook Township; one son, Theodore L. IV of Geneva; three grandchildren, Hollie, Ted and Logan; two sisters, Geraldine Arnette of Ashtabula, Helen Archer of Hixon, Tenn.; two brothers, William of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Frank of Ninety-Six, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Catherine Bates.
Service is 3 p.m. Monday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, with Theodore L. Bush V officiating.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Florence E. Card
GENEVA - Florence E. Card, 77, of Commerce Place, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at her home.
She was born July 7, 1923, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Julius and Belle (Swanson) Helwig.
A local resident most of her life, Mrs. Card was employed as a senior aide for the Jobs Training Partnership Act. She was a former member of Prospect Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ashtabula and Geneva. In her leisure she enjoyed playing pinochle and traveling.
Survivors include two sons: Gary L. Card of Ashtabula and Bruce L. Card of Lubbock, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Tina, Jen, Shawn, Dave, Sherry, Chris, Chrissy, Steve, Alecia and Mandy; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Lawrence Card; a sister, Velma Amidon; and a brother, Fred Helwig.
Service will be 8:30 p.m. today at Childs-Williams Funeral Home, 1440 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kevin Horrigan, pastor of Prospect Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial of ashes will be at the family's convenience.
Calling hours are 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Elizabeth R. Tinney
GENEVA - Elizabeth "Betty" R. Tinney, 82, of Spencer Circle, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
She was born July 28, 1920, in Buckhannon, W.Va. the daughter of Simeon R. and Corda C. (Smith) Layfield, and was a Geneva resident since 1967.
She married Paul E. Tinney on Oct. 15, 1942, in Tuscon Ariz. They were co-owners and managers of the Ben Franklin store in Geneva from 1967 to 1982.
Mrs. Tinney enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and collecting cat figurines. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Geneva. She also worked at Major True Value Hardware of Geneva from 1982 to 1998.
Survivors include a son, David R. of Geneva; daughters, Katheryn Jacobs of Cuyahoga Falls and Carol McKendrick of Akron; grandchildren, John, Mathew, Scott, Brian, Jason, Michael and Cindi; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta Simmons of Metairie, La. and Stella Lee Layfield of Spotsylvania, Va.; and brother, Ed Layfield of Fort Pierce, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a stepmother, Ruby Layfield; a sister, Helen Frashure; and a brother, Jim Layfield.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, the Rev. Donald Hammer of the First Assembly of God, Ashtabula, presiding. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mary A. Maziarz
MEADVILLE, Pa - Mary Andres Maziarz, 87, of North Park Avenue, died Dec. 2, 2001, at the Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community of Meadville, Pa.
She was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Adam and Veronica (Hammer) Andres.
She married Frank Maziarz on Nov. 25, 1937.
Mrs. Maziarz was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Janice Gurney of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Sandy Kurt of Meadville, Pa.; two brothers, Frank Andres of Wellington, Fla., and John Andres of Escondido, Calif.; two sisters, Stella Canon of Ashtabula and Annette Kalister of Cleveland; and four grandchildren, Michael Gurney, Robert Gurney, Carolyn Hammack and Richard Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 29, 1996, and a sister, Helen Nieminen.
A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the St. Brigid Church with burial in the St. Brigid Mausoleum.
Frank C. Meehan
GENEVA - Frank C. Meehan, 78, of North Myers Road, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at the Rae Ann Nursing Home in Geneva.
He was born Feb. 1, 1924, in St. John's Newfoundland, the son of Charles and Ethel (Chown) Meehan.
Mr. Meehan served in the Newfoundland Air Force during World War 11.
He was an electrician with the Electrical Union 673 until his retirement.
Mr. Meehan was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6846 of Geneva, and the Eagles Lodge Aerie 2243.
Survivors include his wife Sylvia, whom he married Feb. 26, 1947; three sons, Michael Meehan of Austinburg, Christopher Meehan of Geneva and Kevin Meehan of Lakewood; a daughter Sydney Meehan of Ashtabula; and six grandchildren, J. Michael, Clinton Bright, Shawn, Connor, Kelly and Katie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
At Mr. Meehan's request there will be no services.
Memorial contribution can be made in his memory to the VFW Post 6846.
Envelopes will be available at the Kennedy-Billman Funeral Home, 323 South Broadway, Geneva, who is in charge of arrangements.
