William T. Helwig
GENEVA - William T. Helwig, 72, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at the Rae-Ann Nursing Home, Geneva.
He was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Cleveland, the son of Casper and Leona (Disney) Helwig.
Mr. Helwig was employed as a bar tender at the Cleveland Athletic Club for 11 years and enjoyed music.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
No funeral or calling hours will be observed.
The Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, is in charge of arrangements.
Gregory F. Bleasdale
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Gregory F. Bleasdale, 42, formerly of Conneaut, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001.
He was born Dec. 15, 1958, in Conneaut, the son of William and Janice (English) Bleasdale.
A Daytona Beach resident for the past two years, Mr. Bleasdale was employed in the maintenance department at the Americano Beach Resort, Daytona Beach, and had worked at Bailey Transport, Conneaut.
He had served in the U.S. Navy and enjoyed model planes, coin collecting and reading.
Survivors include his parents of Conneaut; three sisters, Pauline Jarvi of Conneaut, Margo McNatt of San Antonio, Texas, and Sandy Curnutte of Fayetteville, N.C.; two brothers, William F. and Douglas F. of Houston, Texas; and maternal grandmother, Luella English of Conneaut.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John F. English; and paternal grandparents, Plin D. and Pauline (Greene) Bleasdale.
A private family service was held May 6 in Conneaut.
Memorial contributions can be made to Drug Abuse Resistance Education. Envelopes are available at Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, where local arrangements were made.
Thelma Cook
FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Thelma Calaway Cook, 96, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center of complications following a stroke.
Born April 11, 1907, in Beaver Center, Pa., she attended Ashtabula Business College, served as Deputy Clerk of Courts, Clerk of the Selective Service Board during World War II, and retired in 1976, after serving as legal secretary with Buckeye Title Co. in Jefferson.
Mrs. Cook was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Emerald Chapter in Jefferson, was Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter OES of Ohio. She was active in the Ladies Literary Class and the Jefferson United Methodist Church.
She moved to Fort Walton Beach, Fla. in 1983 and was an active member of Trinity UMC, the Young at Heart Club and Golden Age Club. She served as membership secretary for Trinity for a number of years in the 1980s.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Rolland Hull of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clair Calaway and Alfred Cook; son, Gary; and grandson, Douglas Hull.
Memorial service was held on Thursday at Trinity UMC. Burial will be in Jefferson at a future date.
Richard J. Rohl
GENEVA - Richard J. Rohl, 81, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Madison Health Care.
Mr. Rohl was born April 28, 1920, in Perryopolis, Pa., the son of Mary (Backus) and John Rohal.
He had been a Geneva resident since 1975 when he moved from Ashtabula.
He had been a distributor for Dandee Potato Chips in Lake, Ashtabula and Geauga counties since 1966.
Mr. Rohl was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during World War II. He was a long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He loved to cook and was a former head dining steward on the MKT Railroads.
Survivors include his son, Rick of Painesville; daughter, Diane Alberthal of San Antonio, Tex.; four grandchildren, Rick and Brian, both of Madison, and Jill and Jessica Alberthal, both of San Antonio, Tex; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary, Margie and Betty, all of Greensburg, Pa.; and two brothers, John Rohal of Jeannette, Pa., and Bill Rohal of Greensburg, Pa.
His parents preceded him in death.
Services will be noon Wednesday at Behm Family Funeral Homes, 26 River St., Madison, with the Rev. Eric R. Linthicum of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Painesville officiating.
Burial will be in Perry Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Gary E. Dickerhoof
GENEVA - Gary E. Dickerhoof, 36, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Dickerhoof was born June 18, 1965 in Ravenna.
He worked for the Lake Grove Trailer Park for the past two years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He had lived in Geneva since 1990.
Survivors include his father, Willard J. Dickerhoof Sr. of Ravenna; mother, Dayle Shade of Warren; daughter, Sierra Levak of Geneva; two sons, Christopher and Gary Jr. of Casselberry, Fla.; two brothers, Willard J. Jr. of Columbus and Charles T. of Niles; and one granddaughter.
Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Church of God in Newton Falls.
Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. James Funeral Home Inc. of Newton Falls is handling the funeral arrangements.
Melba L. Forren
GENEVA - Melba L. Forren, 64, of Eastlawn Street, died Sunday, April, 7, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Forren was born April 12, 1937, in Hinton, W.Va., the daughter of Russell and Nellie F. (Willey) Grimmett. She married Earl Forren April 7, 1953, in Union, W.Va. She had been a Geneva resident since 1955.
Mrs. Forren worked at IRC Fibers in Painesville for 22 years. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, bowling and was an avid sports fan. She previously attended Peoples Church in Geneva.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Deborah L. Fowler and Kelly S. Forren, both of Geneva; son, Kenneth W. Forren of Milan; six grandchildren, Tabitha, Caleb, Elijah, Jacob, Lucas and Mia; sister, Barbara Forren of Ashtabula; two brothers, Delbert Grimmett of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Blaine Grimmett of Geneva.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Margaret Fleshman, Reva Pearson, Mary Catherine Grimmett, Nellie Marie Grimmett, and Lora Cobb; and two brothers, Howard Edgar and Edward Grimmett.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, with the Rev. Jimmie Walker of Peoples Church officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
