Willie Floyd
GENEVA - Willie Floyd, 70, of Geneva, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2003, at his home.
He was born on August 15, 1932 to Callie Bryant and Major B. Floyd, in Clayton, AL, moving to Ohio at the age of 6.
Mr. Floyd worked in construction, owning or driving tractor trailers.
In 1973, he slipped at work injuring his back, which ended up totally disabling him from substantial work. In 1987, he was hit with a train and survived the ordeal after living in a coma for a short while. He spent the remainder of his life suffering daily pain.
Willie leaves behind Bonnie whom he married in 1968. This union gave him two children, Christopher of Geneva, and Barbara of Ashtabula.
He leaves behind this other children, Margie Floyd Mixon, and Elaine Floyd of Milwaukee, WI, Alisha, and Willie Junior of Baltimore, MD, Gerald of Texas, and Anthony of New York City, NY.
He also leaves behind seven brothers: Lang Floyd of Clopton, AL, James, and Roy of Atlanta, GA, Freddy, Frank, Johnny, and George of Detroit, MI; and ten sisters, Oralee Ware of Youngstown, Alberta Tellis, and Willie Leena Thomas, both of Montgomery, AL, Ann Daniels, Maggie Gochett, Lilly Cliatt, Inez Lewis, and Inester Jones, all living in or around Atlanta, GA, Mary Scott of Piscataway, NJ, and Minnie Bell of Bartow, FL; and a host of family and friends.
His Mother, Father, one son Wendell Ray, and brothers Ike, Adam, David, and Samuel preceded him in death.
Willie was baptized into our Lord Jesus Christ in 1979, while attending Maple Grove Church of Christ. Although through the years his attendance dwindled, he lived the life of a Christian, lending a helping hand to anyone who needed, opening his home on numerous occasions to those who needed shelter to get on their feet, and hosting bible study classes in the evenings in his living room. He seldom raised his voice, accepted people for who they are, and was honest to a fault.
He drove a tractor/trailer in the early 1980's for the Church of Christ, traveling all over the country picking up donations of food, clothing and medicines, and delivering the supplies to the docks in Baltimore to be shipped to the Poland Churches of Christ during the time of their struggle.
His major enjoyment in later years was having coffee with his many friends and acquaintances at Honey Bees Restaurant. His past time was enjoying western movies, eating out, and taking pride in his yard work.
