Raymond M. Penhollow
GENEVA - Raymond M. Penhollow, 77, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000 at his home.
Born Nov. 22, 1922, in Perry, he was the son of Merl B. and Edith M. (Rhoades) Penhollow.
He married Martha "Ellen" Bates June 16, 1951.
Mr. Penhollow worked as a signal man for 42 years before retiring in 1982. He worked for the Nickel Plate Railroad in Geneva and Norfolk and Western in Madison, and Norfolk and Southern.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 740th RR Battalion.
Mr. Penhollow enjoyed his grandchildren and helping his neighbors.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Peggy Hamilton of Painesville; two sons: Raymond Jr. of Geneva and Rex E. of Painesville; eight grandchildren: Amoreena, Brian Dustin, Katie, Kelli, Zachary, Geoffrey and Rachael; and one great-grandchild, Ashley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Raymond III.
No services will be observed. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m.. Wednesday at Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.

Paul E. Newsome
SUN CITY, Ariz. - Paul E. Newsome, 72, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000.
Born Oct. 16, 1928, he was the son of Shelby and Burnett Newsome.
Mr. Newsome lived in Ashtabula for 30 years before moving to Arizona in 1980.
He was employed with the former Ashtabula Bow Socket company.
Mr. Newsome served as president of Lawn Bowling Association in Sun City.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie (Izzi); one son, Richard of Orange County, Calif.; three daughters: Lorraine of Glendale, Ariz., Barbara Vacca of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Patricia Fessler of Tolleson, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and two sisters: Palestine of Ashtabula and Roberta Frasure of McDowell, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Service was held in Peoria, Ariz., Nov. 5, at Best Funeral Home.
Esther Jean Taylor
GENEVA - Esther Jean Taylor, 86, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Rae-Ann Nursing Home in Geneva.
She was born Sept. 9, 1914, in Portsmouth, the daughter of Floyd L. and Barbara (Simon) Revare.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Taylor of Geneva-on-the-Lake; and two sisters: Margaret Barber of Sarasota, Fla., and Ruth Price of Portsmouth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Memory Garden in North Kingsville. David Hines, pastor of Kingsville First Baptist Church, will officiate.
No calling hours will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

John R. Sundstrom
PHOENIX, Ariz. - John R. Sundstrom, 53, died Saturday, October 26, 2000.
He was born Jan. 8, 1947, in Conneaut. He had lived in the Phoenix, Ariz., area for the last 25 years.
He was a 1965 graduate of Conneaut High School, where he participated in a variety of sports and other school activities.
He attended General Motors Institute and Youngstown State University, where he received a degree in engineering.
He worked at the General Motors Lordstown facility while attending college. He worked for Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, Mich., before transferring to one of Ford's California manufacturing plants.
He then moved to Phoenix, Ariz., and worked in the electrical field. He was employed for the last three years by Corbins Services, an electrical contractor. While there, he worked as an electrician foreman working on a new fabrication facility for the Intel Corp.
He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed camping and taking his boat to a variety of lakes around Arizona and an occasional deep-sea fishing venture.
Having participated in a number of sports while in school, he also enjoyed most sports as a spectator.
Survivors include his long-time companion, Jacqueline Synberger of Phoenix; his father, Aarne of North Kingsville; three sisters: Joyce Bernard of Kilmarnock, Va., Linda Jason of Phoenix, and Elizabeth Batta of Bloomington, Minn.; and two brothers: Richard of Millersburg and Mike of North Kingsville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene.
Service was held Oct. 31 at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, Glendale, Ariz.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut, at a later date.

John K. Lundgren
HOUSTON, TX - Former Conneaut resident John Kenneth Lundgren, 44, of Katy, TX, died Wednesday, June 4, in Houston, TX, of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born June 16, 1958, in Conneaut, OH, a son of Kenneth Lundgren and Sarah (York) Terry.
Mr. Lundgren was a 1978 graduate of Conneaut High School where he was a member of the baseball team and was voted "most valuable player." He received his master's degree in education from Ashland University in 1981. He taught second grade for 17 years at Huggins Elementary School in Fulshear, TX. He was an avid sports fan and memorabilia collector of the Cleveland teams, especially the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sarah and Ronald Terry of Conneaut, OH, and his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Betty Lundgren, of Conneaut. He was a very loving and devoted single parent and leaves his twin daughters, Courtney and Kristen Lundgren, and his son, John Kenneth Lundgren, all of Katy, TX. Also surviving is his brother, David D. Lundgren, and his wife, Susan, of Concord, OH, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH, with the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating.
Burial will be in East Conneaut Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a fund for his children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Gertrud E. Branford
GENEVA - Gertrud Elizabeth Branford, 75, of Buckingham Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Rae-Ann Nursing Home of Geneva, where she had lived for the past week.
Mrs. Branford was born Nov. 16, 1927, in Bad-Hersfeld, Germany, the daughter of Kurt and Anna (Szymcak) Zorn. She had been a resident of Geneva since October 1952.
She was a graduate of the Business College in Bad-Hersfeld and later moved to the United States with her husband in 1952.
She enjoyed her family, working outdoors in her garden, and doing charity work.
Survivors include her husband, Donald C. Branford of Geneva, whom she married March 28, 1949, in Bad-Hersfeld; a daughter, Terry R. Wheeler of Madison ; a son, Donald F. Branford, also of Madison; two grandchildren, Ryan and Erika; four great-grandchildren, Jamie, Karlie, Lauren and Gregory; a sister, Charlotte Doll of Sorga, Germany; and a brother, Gunter Zorn of Bad-Hersfeld.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Walter, Kurt, Helmut, Adolf and Wolfgang Zorn.
The family will have a private service. At Mrs. Branford's request, no calling hours will be observed.
