Elaine J. Rees
GENEVA - Elaine Joy Rees, 73, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Cleveland Clinic Hospital.
She was born April 27, 1929, in Painesville, the daughter of Harry and Mina (Kloss) Price.
A 1947 graduate of Harvey High School, she graduated four years later from Lincoln Christian Bible College in Illinois as a song evangelist. She earned a teacher's certificate at Lake Erie College in Painesville.
She was a dedicated wife, mother of five children, teacher and church music director. She devoted much of her life as a member of the Church of Christ.
As a talented and creative singer, she composed many religious songs. She was well known for her abundant sense of humor and remarkable Christian faith.
She was a member of the Progressive Literary Book Club and a volunteer at University Hospital of Geneva.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Rees, whom she married June 19, 1953; four daughters, Rhonda Vivas of Miami, Patti Gurekian of Waltham, Mass., and Beth Jablonski and Constance Rees, both of Austinburg Township; five grandchildren, Elena and William Vivas, Aram and Ava Gurekian, and Jessica Jablonski; a brother, Garth Price of Raymore, Mo.; and two sisters, Gloria Harley of Painesville, and Sylvia Rabinovitz of Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Rees, in 1954, and her parents.
Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Geneva Church of Christ, 1007 S. Broadway, Geneva.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. The Rev. Ron Cox of Geneva Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Geneva Church of Christ, P.O. Box 160, Geneva, 44041.

Fred C. Clark
GENEVA - Fred C. Clark, 81, of Centennial Street, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
He was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Sheffield Township, the son of Fred E. and Lois (Bancroft) Clark Sr. and lived most of his life in Ashtabula County.
He married Esther Richards on June 29, 1940, in Ashtabula.
Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked in hydraulic maintenance for RMI for 13 years before retiring in 1986. he also worked for 30 years for Industrial Rayon, Painesville.
He was a member of the Park Street Christian Church, Geneva, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6846, and the RMI Retirees Group.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Douglas and Kim of Seattle, Wash., Vernon "Bud", of Painesville, Dane of Perry, and Darrin of Madison; eight grandchildren; a brother, Clayton of Perry; and two sisters, Althea "Sis" Dreier and Bonnie Frohman of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Herbert and Alfred.
Service is noon Saturday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva, with the Rev. Larry Wade of Park Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Alberta H. Belzer
GENEVA - Alberta "Sherry" H. Belzer, 78, of Commerce Place, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
She was born May 15, 1923, in Trumbull Township, the daughter of William H. and Carrie E. (Berry) Welker. She had lived in the Geneva area since 1970.
She married Paul F. Belzer on Sept. 20, 1947, in Mayfield.
Mrs. Belzer worked as a secretary for 25 years for her husband's construction company
She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
Mrs. Belzer enjoyed helping family and other, crafts and flower gardening. She also was in charge of the block watch in her apartment complex.
Survivors include a brother, Bud Welker of Harpersfield Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Henry, Charles and Lawrence Welker; and two sisters, Lena Thomas and Catherine Welker.
Service is 3 p.m. Sunday at the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva. The Rev. Jim Walker of the People's Church, Geneva will officiate. Burial will be in Unionville Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.

Mary Walsh
GENEVA - Mary Walsh, 90, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Geneva Health Care.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Donald E. Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.

Joseph G. Wakim
GENEVA - Joseph G. Wakim, 71, of Clay Street, Geneva, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at his home.
Born November 10, 1931, in Jouneih, Lebanon, he was the son of Linda (Rohanna) and George Wakim. He was a 43-year resident of Geneva, moving from Waynesburg, PA. Mr. Wakim married Mary R. (Rohanna) on September 28, 1957, at Our Lady of Lebanon in Harrissa, Lebanon.
He owned Cloverleaf Restaurant in the early 1960s and '70s. He also built and owned Geneva and Ashtabula Medicare until 1991. Joseph owned Morgantown Nursing Facility in Morgantown, WV, and he owned and operated Michigan Square Apartment Complex. He was a member of Assumption Church, and also a Member, Star of Lebanon Club, in Cleveland, affiliated with St. Marons Church in Cleveland. He was an avid golfer and loved fishing, boating, and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary R. Wakim of Geneva; daughter, Angelique L. (Charles) Saliba of Clearwater, FL; grandson, Christopher Joseph "C.J." Wakim; two sisters, Noel of New York and Laur of Lebanon; and five brothers, Elie Wakim of Lebanon, Antoine Wakim of Lebanon, Jean Wakim of Lebanon, Michel Wakim of Geneva, and Bechara Wakim of New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mona; and brother, Pierre Wakim.
Funeral Service will be held today at 8:30 p.m. at Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway, Geneva. The Rev. Paul Tobin of Assumption Catholic Church will be officiating.
A service will also be held Thursday, June 12, 2003, in PA. The blessing will be at 10 a.m. at Behm Funeral Homes, Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, PA, and a Mass of Christian Burial begins at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Waynesburg, PA. The Rev. John J. Batykefer and the Rev. Elias Sarkis, of Tulsa, OK, will be officiating.
First Visitation will be held today from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway, Geneva. The Second Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at The Behm Funeral Home, 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, PA.
Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Waynesburg, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Eternal Word Television Network, 5817 Old Leeds Rd., Irondale, AZ 35210.

Dorothy M. Bean
GENEVA - Dorothy M. Bean, 60, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at her home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1942 in Johnstown, Pa., the daughter of Kermit and Ellen (Locher) Miller.
She married Leeroy E. Bean Dec. 28, 1990 in Covington, Ky. and was the manager of Painesville Lanes in Painesville, retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Bean was the owner and operator of Our Place in Thompson and was a friend to all.
Survivors include two sons, Phillip and Kenneth Nutter of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six grandchildren; her mother Ellen Miller-Perry of Madison; two brothers, Henry L. Miller of Emporia, Kan. and Kermit Miller Jr., of Madison; four sisters, Patricia Wyman of Shaker Heights, Karen Rutledge of Inverness, Fla., Judy Singleton of Chardon, and Myrtle O'Donovan of Godley, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leeroy E. Bean; and father, Kermit Miller Sr.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Chuck MacPherson of the First Presbyterian Church of Murraysville, Pa., officiating.
Calling hours will from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5786 Heisley Road, Mentor, Ohio, 44060.

Gertrude M. Berta
GENEVA - Gertrude Marie Berta, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Rae-Ann of Geneva.
She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Madison, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Foster) Berta. She was a lifetime resident of the Madison and Geneva areas.
She was a meat wrapper at Giant Eagle in Madison and Chardon. She also had worked at Patrick's Grocery in Madison.
Survivors include her four sisters, Barbara Spence of Perry, Catherine Berta and Nancy Quickel, both of Madison, and Sandra Blasko of Geneva; and a brother, Clarence Berta of Orlando, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Bushnell; and six brothers, Joseph, John, George, Richard, Joseph and William Berta.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Madison Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Tobin, of Assumption Church in Geneva, will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashtabula County Humane Society, 6341 Route 167, Pierpont, 44082.
The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, is handling arrangements.
