Neva E. Cope, 91, of Cadiz, died Friday, January 23, 2004 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. She was born January 25, 1912 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Harry and Florence Keesey Milliken.
She was a member of the First Church of God of Cadiz and a former member of the Cadiz Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenneth Cope in 1988, and by two brothers, Allen (Scott) Milliken and John Milliken.
Surviving are a son David Cope of Columbus; two daughters, Nancy Thompson of Cadiz and Doris Harris of Canal Fulton; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio, where funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Rev. Craig Haney will officiate. Interment will be in Cadiz Union Cemetery.

Joye Avalyn Huntsman

Joye Avalyn Huntsman, 72, of Cadiz, formerly of Norton, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at the Carriage Inn of Cadiz. She was born July 16, 1931, in Manchester, Ohio, a daughter of the late Melvin M. and Dolly A. Smith Young.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Jewett, and was a former Waitress, Printer and Home Health Aid.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilbur Eugene Gray; her second husband, Harry F. Huntsman; and a son, Garry Allen Gray.
Surviving are three sons, Terry Dean Gray of Tucson, Randy Eugene Gray of Barberton, and Rick Gray of Cadiz; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Beulah V. ''Boots'' Young of Rochester, MN; 4 step children, Dean Huntsman, Thelma Huntsman, Dale Vacha, Karry Huntsman; and 5 step grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, January 26, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel, Barberton, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Richard Burchell officiating.

Grace Warner Warrington Bach

Grace Warner Warrington Bach, 89, Bowerston, formerly of Cadiz and Nokomis, Florida, died Saturday, January 17, at Sunnyslope Retirement Center, Bowerston.
She was born May 29, 1915 in Shadyside, Ohio a daughter of the late Lewis and Ada Perkins Warner.
She was a retired Registerd Nurse having worked at Martins Ferry, Dennison and St. Johns Hospitals. She was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands: Donald Warrington and Edward Bach; parents, a brother Vernon Warner, and a sister Hazel Warner.
She is survived by a son Richard ''Buddy' Warrington of Minerva; a daughter, Judy Spiert of Massillon, Ohio; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Lowther of Phoenix, Arizona.

Robert Isaiha Williamson

Robert Isaiha Williamson, 11 month old son of Randal Williamson and Crystal Andears Burkhart both of Cadiz, died Friday, January 16 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz.
He was born January 21, 2003 in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
He is survived in addition to his parents; by his maternal grandparents: Conrad Andears of Jewett and Sharon Andears of Cadiz; paternal grandparents: Randal and Sharon Williamson of Cadiz; 2 brothers: Dillon Burkhart and Cristian Andears both of the home; great grandmother, Ann Sable of Cadiz; 2 uncles: Bill Andears and Bob Andears both of Uhrichsville; 2 aunts: Dawn Andears of Jewett and Analynn Williamson of Cadiz; several great aunts and great uncles.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 20, 6-8, at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where a private service will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Paul Hamilton officiating. Interment will be at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
Martha Lou Spurrier Thompson

Martha Lou Spurrier Thompson, 77, of Jewett, OH, formerly of Cadiz and Pleasant City, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, after a long battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 28, 1926 in Pleasant City, Ohio, a daughter of the late John O. and Mildred Hoy Spurrier.
She was a member of the E. Warren St. Church of Christ in Cadiz, and was a retired Telephone Operator with GTE in Cadiz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Richards, and by 2 infant sisters and an infant brother.
Surviving are her husband, Lowell Thompson of Carrollton, formerly of Jewett; one sister, Dorothea and her husband, James Patterson of Columbus (with whom Martha resided for the past nine months); one brother, Reuben C. and his wife, Ivey Spurrier of Easton, PA; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; many relatives and very good friends.

Donald Johnson, 65, Flushing, died Saturday, March 27 at his home. He was born July 29, 1938 in Martins Ferry, Ohio a son of the late Wayne Major Johnson and Clara Belle McFadden Johnson.
He was a diesel mechanic for Cravat Coal Company and served in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Conter Johnson; a daughter, Lori Fox and her husband Herb of Martins Ferry; and 2 grandchildren: Aaron and Madison Fox.

Ethel W. McHugh, 89, of Hopedale, Ohio, formerly of Smithfield and Mt. Pleasant, Ohio died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Gables Care Center, Hopedale, where she had resided for four years.
She was born April 23, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio the daughter of the late Oscar and Mary Belle Davis Woodford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Dean McHugh; a foster brother, Delford Digman; and two brothers: Gilbert ''Red'' Woodford and Brent D. Woodford.
Ethel is survived by a daughter, Mary Ruth Dicks and her husband John of Bloomingdale, Ohio; a brother, Harold Woodford and his wife Lucille of St. Clairsville, Ohio; a sister Ruth Wonnacott and her husband Lowell of Canton, Ohio and Follansbee, West Virginia; two sisters in law: Jean Digman of Smithfield, Ohio and Frances Woodford of Westerville, Ohio; three granddaughters: Amy Wickham and her husband Scott of Richmond, Ohio, Amber Sobota and her husband Justin of Yorkville, Ohio and Adrianna Dicks of Bloomingdale, Ohio; a great grandson, Gregory Wickham; and four nephews and five nieces.
Ethel was happy to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses for more than a half century. A memorial service will be held for her at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Charleston Street Extension, Cadiz, Ohio on Sunday, March 28, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. Services will be conducted by Michael Roshak, a Christian elder and family friend. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Ohio.

Mary Elizabeth Wallace, 79, of the Harrison County Home, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at the Harrison County Home, Cadiz. She was born October 13, 1924 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edward Hayes and Florence Vera Rogers.
She is the retired Administrator of the Harrison County Home, a member of the Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church and its Women's Society of Christian Service, the Cadiz Business and Professional Women's Club, and the Ohio County Home Association.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Dean Wallace in 1986; a daughter Carol Wallace; and a sister, Myrna Hall.
Surviving are two sons, William and his wife, Kathleen Wallace of Dennison, and John and his wife, Diana Wallace of New Bloomington, Ohio; two daughters, Joy and her husband, Dean Taggart of Cadiz, and Kay and her husband, Joseph Parkinson of Carmi, IL; eight grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Norris of Cadiz, and Lois and her husband, Laban Blackburn of Hopedale.

Virginia Clair Aspenwall

February 04, 1909 - March 15, 2004Virginia Clair Johnston Aspenwall, 95, of Cadiz, died Monday, March 15, 2004 at Sunnyslope Retirement Center in Bowerston. She was a former resident of Smithfield, and was the last in the line of the Johnston pioneer family of Jefferson County. She was born February 4, 1909 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Edwin C. And Mary Elizabeth Howard Johnston.
Mrs. Aspenwall was a retired School Teacher, having taught in Wintersville, Cadiz, Mt. Pleasant and Bloomingdale. She was a member of Scott United Methodist Church, where she was active in the women's circle and choir.
She graduated from Cadiz High School in 1927, received her BA from Ohio University, and her MA from the University of Southern California. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, the Pioneer Families of Jefferson County, and was an active member of the Moravian Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A former member of the Harrison County Retired Teachers Association, the Smithfield Garden Club, and the Mt. Pleasant Women's Club, she was an avid gardener, and loved and appreciated nature and the arts. She was the Past Worthy Matron of Smithfield Chapter 332, Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Aspenwall; and a sister, Margaret Jane Johnston.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. James (Elizabeth) Tuccinardi of Chillicothe, Ohio; a cousin, William Parker, Jr. of Portland, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

Eastern Star Services will be held Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Ruth Elizabeth Shumard

On March 12, 2004, after 17 years alone, Ruth Elizabeth Still Shumard rejoined her husband of fifty years, Charles Howard Shumard, Sr. Ruth was born in Steubenville, July 14, 1917 and was preceded in death by her mother Ura Ritchie Still and father Daniel Still, one son Donald, five sisters, one brother, and two grandchildren.
Ruth was a member of the Eastern Star, Scott United Methodist Church, and the Cadiz Garden Gate Club. Ruth loved working in her flower gardens, and each year produced numerous beautiful blooms on every plant of which she new the name. Feeding birds was another of her favorite pastimes. She was an accomplished artist working in ceramics and different paint media. Ruth was a longtime member of AARP.
Surviving Ruth are 4 sons: Charles (Patricia) of Cadiz, David (Darlene) of Leesville Lake, Thomas (Cathrine) of Phoenix, and Gary (Margaret) of Martinsburg, W. Va.; grandchildren: Larry, Jeff, Deborah, David, Michael, Rebecca, Isaiah, Sarah, Christina, Brenda, Danny, Deborah, and Matthew; great-grandchildren: Kenneth and Kevin Candido, and Chelsea. Ruth was close to many nieces and nephews also.

June Albaugh, 86, of Cadiz, formerly of Scio, died Monday, March 8, 2004 at the Carriage Inn of Cadiz. She was born June 20, 1917 in Scio, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Millinger Thompson.
She was the former Manager of the former Home Restaurant in Cadiz, and was a member of the Scio Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Albaugh; and by a brother, Fred Thompson.
Surviving are two sons, Eric Albaugh of New Philadelphia and John Albaugh of Cleveland; two grandsons, Scott and Jason Albaugh; and a sister Wilda ''Sadie'' Gibson of Cadiz.

Donald R. McWilliams, 67, of Freeport, Ohio, died Friday, March 5, 2004 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. He was born July 23, 1936 in Flushing, Ohio, a son of the late Alfred and Virginia McWilliams.
He was a retired employee of Yackey Trucking in Morristown, and attended the Rock Hill Baptist Church near Flushing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James McWilliams.
Surviving are a son Donald McWilliams of Flushing; 2 daughters, Emma Burton of Bannock and Michelle McWilliams of Uhrichsville; a step daughter, Vickie Burton of Bannock; 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter; a brother, Wayne McWilliams of Bethesda; 2 sisters, Delores of Freeport and Judy of Bethesda; and his companion Patricia Goodson of Freeport.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Rock Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Merritt officiating. Interment will be in Rock Hill Cemetery.

Florence Virginia Carothers, 89, of Cadiz, formerly of Kenwood, died Monday, March 1, 2004 at her home. She was born January 22, 1915 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Charles W. And Bertha Beanie Mansfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Carothers; two infant children; three brothers, Charles (Bud), Burrell, and John Mansfield; and one sister, Hazel Kelley.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including locally, LeRoy Best, Charles Mansfield, Linda Ledger, Lloyd, Walter, Ernie, and Jack Mansfield, all of Cadiz, Mark Mansfield, with whom she resided, Mike Mansfield of North Carolina and Connie Rutledge of Hamilton, Ohio.

Dianna L. Kellaway, 48, of Cadiz, died Monday, March 1, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville, Ohio. She was born January 22, 1956, a daughter of the late Arthur Wayne Barcus and Shirley Decker Kellaway.
She attended the Cadiz Church of the Nazarene, and was a member of the Cadiz Jaycees.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Vernon Kellaway and by an aunt, Edith Decker.
Surviving are two daughters, Melissa Risdon and her husband, Dennis of Jewett and Tonya Mitchell and her husband, DeWayne of Cadiz; six grandchildren, Nick and Alysia Risdon, Rashaen, Kalub, Brandon, and Kobe Mitchell; a brother, Rick Barcus of Cadiz; and her boyfriend, Jeff Dowdle, with whom she resided.
