Helen C. Abercrombie, 82, Cadiz, Ohio formerly of Wheeling, West Virginia, died Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, Ohio. She was born September 17, 1921 in Joseph Mills, West Virginia a daughter of the late Clyde and Grace Binegar Ash.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Cadiz; a past matron of the West Liberty OES; member of the Wellsburg OES; a member to the Ohio County Homemakers and the AARP; and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her husband, Samuel Lynn Abercrombie; a daughter, Catherine Ann Abercrombie; a brother, Frederick Ash; 3 sisters: Ruth Maxwell, Erma Hutton, and Glenda Rusen.
Surviving are a son, James Abercrombie and his wife Linda of Follansbee, West Virginia; a daughter, Lynne Christine Stevens and her husband John of Stafford, Virginia; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Ash of Palm Desert, CA; 2 sisters: Ruby Pettay and Virginia McFarlan both of Cadiz, Ohio; and a special niece Lavonda New of Cadiz, Ohio..
Calling hours are Monday, September 13, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Ken Swelbar officiating.
Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
Lloyd E. Hartley, Jr.

Lloyd E. Hartley, Jr., 72, of Sugar Land, TX, formerly of New Athens, OH and Anaheim, CA, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at his home. He was born June 25, 1932 in Duncanwood, Ohio, a son of the late Lloyd E. And Bessie M. Yates Hartley.
Lloyd earned his Masters Degree in Engineering at The Tri-State University in Angola, IN in 1951 and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Business at UCLA in 1982. He was a retired Aerospace Engineer at North American Aviation and at NASA in Houston. He was a member of the Family Church in Sugar Land and a member of the Sugar Land Lodge 1141, F. & A.M.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Doris Benbow Hartley; 2 sons, Lloyd Hartley, III of CA and Timothy Edwin Hartley of WI; 5 stepchildren, Carl Johnston, Sharon Bushek, Karen Bagley, John Davis and James Davis, all of TX; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, W. Paul Hartley, Yorba Linda, CA, Sam Hartley of New Athens, and Joe Hartley of Pataskala, OH; a sister, Louise Derfer of Columbus; and a foster brother, Robert Bishop of East Palestine, OH.
Friends may call Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the New Athens United Methodist Church. Rev. Charles Mehl will officiate. Interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.

Melford F. ''Peanut'' Wallace

Melford F. ''Peanut'' Wallace, 83, of Cadiz, died Thursday, September 2, 2004 at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, West Virginia. He was born August 20, 1921 in Cadiz, a son of the late Frances Mary Wallace.
He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Cadiz and a Mason. He was a former employee of the Hillcrest Dairy in Cadiz for thirty six years, and was a retired employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation, after nineteen years, where he cared for the rest area at Tappan Lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Carolyn and Anna Wallace and Mary Banks.
Surviving are his twin sister, Milli Payne and her husband, Sequoyah of Dallas, Texas and by several nieces and nephews and friends.
Friends may call Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church with Rev. D'Wain O. Wales officiating.
Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
Paul Edison Dunlap
February 25, 1917 - August 12, 2004
Paul Edison Dunlap, 87, of Antrim, Ohio, formerly of Stumptown, Ohio, died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at Gables Care Center in Hopedale. He was born February 25, 1917 in Athens Twp., Harrison Co., Ohio, a son of the late Stanley and Esther Mae Todd Dunlap.
He was a retired Farmer, and a member of the Guernsey County Farm Bureau and the New Athens Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Doris Ferguson of Culpepper, VA and Eleanor Pizzino of Hopedale, OH; a sister-in-law, Irene Dunlap of Cadiz, OH; four nieces and six nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph W. Dunlap.

Leonora C. Cramblett

Leonora C. Cramblett, 84, of Carrollton, formerly of Scio, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, August 14, 2004 at Hospice Palliative Care Unit, Steubenville, Ohio. She was born December 17, 1919 in Archer Twp, Harrison County, a daughter of the late Alva and Florence Pettay Cavin.
She was a member of the Scio United Methodist Church, Scio Civic Club, Mount Hope Grange, attended Mt. Union College, was a former North Township Trustee, and was a life time resident of Harrison and Carroll counties where she was a farmer and homemaker.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her husband William D. Cramblett; and her brother Alva Cavin.
Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy) Malicki of Cadiz and Dr. David (Susie) Frew of Carrollton; 2 sons: Alva D. (Natasha) Cramblett of Davenport, Iowa and Richard Cramblett of Scio; and 10 grandchildren.

C. Dudley Thompson, 82, of Cadiz and formerly of Deersville Ridge, died Sunday, August 15 at the Valley Hospice Pallative Care Unit, Steubenville, Ohio. He was born October 21, 1921 in Jewett, Ohio a son of the late Frank and Daisy Hilder Thompson.
He attended Deersville United Methodist Church, was a member of the Scio Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Boilermakers and Operating Engineers Unions.
He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife, Betty J. Lightner Thompson in 1994; a great grandchild, Danielle; 2 brothers: George and Bill Thompson; and 2 sisters: Audrey Thompson and Irma McMannis.
He is survived by 2 sons: Fred and his wife Sharon Thompson of Mt. Orab, Ohio and Budd and his wife Linda of Aiken, South Carolina; 6 grandchildren: Freddy, Gina, Chad, Amy, Sam, and Ben; and great grandchildren: Courtney, Atley, Lane, Max, Christian, Hannah, and Anna.

Beulah E. Wells, 94, of Cadiz, died Monday, August 16, 2004 at her home. She was born August 6, 1910 in Harrison County, a daughter of the late Wilbur B. and Phoebe Heavilin Birney.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church; AARP; United Methodist Women; Grange; attended Brown School; and was a 1928 graduate of Cadiz High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Fletcher Wells in 1971; 1 daughter, Joan Wells; 2 grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne, Carl, and Roy Birney; and two sisters, Dorothy and Irene Birney.
Surviving are three sons, Carl L. (Carol) Wells of Grove City, Ohio, Charles B. Wells of Hudson, Ohio; and Ross B. (Glenna) Wells of Cadiz; three daughters, Irma J. Stewart of Marietta, Maxine Smittle (Jack) of Westerville, and Rebecca Martino (Frank) of St. Clairsville; 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Eleanor Birney of Cadiz; her caregivers: Dee, Karen Linda, Lisa, and Judy.

Patricia Jane Mowery Baker
April 21, 1932 - August 16, 2004
Patricia Jane Mowery Baker, age 72, of Columbus, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 16, 2004 at The Ohio State University Medical Center after a courageous 18-month battle with sarcoma, surrounded by her family and pastor.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years and 11 months, Dr. Dean Scott Hall Baker, DVM; daughter, Elizabeth Jane Baker of Upper Arlington, OH; son, Robert Dean Baker of Dublin, OH; granddaughters, Amanda Lee Baker of Indianapolis, IN, Lindsey Cecil Baker of Dublin, OH, and Chelsea Pierce Baker of Dublin, OH; brothers and sisters-in-law, George "Bud" Sherman and Barbara Mowery of Lancaster, OH and Ralph Emil and Kay Mowery of Grove City, OH; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, G. Robert and Alicia Myers of Steubenville, OH and Palm City, FL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Patricia was born April 21, 1932 in Lancaster, Ohio the daughter of Cecil Jefferson and Verna Ruby (Hurst) Mowery who preceded her in death, along with her infant brother, Robert Jefferson Mowery, and sister-in-law, Virena Vivian Baker Myers. She graduated from Lancaster High School, Class of 1950, and attended The Ohio State University and studied voice with Miss Marguerite Brickman. As a professional singer, Patricia had a weekly radio program on WHOK in Lancaster, Ohio. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Upper Arlington where she was an active singer in the Chancel Choir, served as a deacon, and participated in creating the church cookbook. In Bellevue, Ohio, she was an enthusiastic member of Questers Antique Study Group. In Newark, Ohio, she served on the Board of Trustees of the Y.W.C.A. In Columbus, Ohio, she was an active member of the board of the Columbus Veterinary Academy Auxiliary. As an animal technician and veterinarian's wife, Patricia mentored many spouses of OSU veterinary students.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday and 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWES T CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus. The funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Road, Columbus, OH 43221. Pastor Doris Anderson and Pastor Richard Karns will co-officiate. Additional visitation hours will be held 2-5 pm Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio.
A graveside burial service will be held 1:30 pm Monday at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio. If desired, contributions may be made to the Music Program at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Patricia's memory. Patricia was a loving and loyal wife, devoted sister, mother, and grandmother, and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. God has blessed her life and fulfilled her dreams with a beautiful family and many dear friends.
Sara Spaar Claring

Sara Spaar Claring, 81, Cadiz, died Wednesday, August 18, at Carriage Inn of Cadiz. She was born July 29, 1923 in Martins Ferry, Ohio a daughter of the late Albert and Ruth Stewart Jeffers, Sr.
She was a nurses aide.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her first husband Charles Spaar and her second husband, Virgil Claring; and 3 brothers.
She is survived by 2 sons: Dwight ''Doc'' Spaar and Charles Spaar both of Cadiz; a brother: Charles Jeffers of Jacksonville, Florida; and a sister, Ruth Nixon of Ft. Smith, Virginia.

Samuel Alvin Thompson

Samuel Alvin Thompson, 96, of Cadiz, formerly of the East Liverpool and Lisbon area, died Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. He was born November 4, 1907 in Cadiz, a son of the late Alvin A. And Bylie Rayl Thompson.
He was a retired Mill Right Boss at D. & T. Brooks Co. in Beaver Falls, PA; was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Mill Right Union.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Post Thompson, and by a number of brothers and sisters.
Surviving are four sons, Samuel B. of Salineville, OH, William G. of Glenmoore, OH, Russell Alvin of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, and Howard Lester of Hamilton, OH; two daughters, Bernice Faye Thompson and Cheryl Kent, both of Lake Panasoffkee, FL; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
