Lester A. Elliott
GENEVA - Lester A. Elliott, 69, of Geneva, Ohio, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2003 at Rae Ann Nursing Home in Geneva. He was born on July 20, 1933 in Perry, Ohio and was a longtime resident of Geneva.
Lester graduated from Perry High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a commercial pilot and mechanic for Lubrizol Corp. and also worked as a chemical operator for Uniroyal and as a heavy equipment operator for Morton Salt until retiring in 1995. He was an avid sports fan and loved his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha (Jarvis) Elliott, 2 daughters: Tammy (Michael) Trippel, McAllen, TX and Constance (Gary) Scott, Thompson; 1 son, Ted (Tammy) Elliott, Saybrook, OH; 2 brothers: Wesley Sinclair Elliott and David Whitmore; and 10 grandchildren; Eric, Fawn, Amanda, Jason, Tim, Nick, Matt, Chloe, Gary, and Carley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Arthur and Leona (Kelsey) Elliott, and 2 brothers: Russell H and Richard J. Elliott.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at 11:00a.m. at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, OH. Officiating will be Rev. William Alvey from the Park United Methodist Church in Madison. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery, Perry, Ohio.
Keegan R. Russell
GENEVA - Keegan R. Russell, 3, of Austin Road, died on Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut.
He was born April 13, 2000, in Conneaut, the son of Jody and Molly (Mahaney) Russell.
Survivors include his parents, Molly of Geneva, and Jody of Pierpont; two brothers, Steven Monick of Albion, Pa., and Orion Russell of Geneva; his grandparents, Steven and Nancy Mahaney of Geneva, and Kim Russell and Bryan Wallace, of Kingsville; great grandparents Virginia Johnson of Mentor, Ann Russell of Ashtabula, Glenda Peer of Bradford, Pa., and Eugene Mahaney of Farmington, W.Va.; three aunts, Sarah, Hayley and Erin; and one uncle, Nathan.
He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Robert Johnson and Roy Vernon Russell.
Calling hours are Thursday, April 24, 2003, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Walker Funeral Home, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.
Graveside service will be Friday, April 25, 2003, at 11 a.m., at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Route 84 (near Kiwanis Park), Geneva.

Dorothy M. Jerla
JENSEN BEACH, Fla. - Dorothy M. Jerla, 84, formerly of Conneaut, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003 at Local Hospital.
She was born in Conneaut and lived in Jensen Beach the last 23 years. Her last occupation was a quality control inspector of medical supplies.
She was of the Catholic faith, enjoyed bingo, making crafts and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include sister Glenna Jerla of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; brother Jack Green of Conneaut; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband Casimer Jerla in 2000, son Timothy LaMont and daughter Yvonne Chapman.
Service is 2 p.m. Friday at Yates Funeral Home Chapel, Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
M. May Davis
GENEVA - M. May Davis, 66, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at her home.
She was born June 17, 1935, in Hanover, W.Va., to Morton B. and Cresie (Adams) Steele. She married George Davis Oct. 24, 1953 in Cleveland. She lived in Geneva the past 10 years, moving from Cleveland.
Mrs. Davis spent 26 years as an accounts payable supervisor at Bearings Inc., retiring in 1990. She was a loving wife and mother.
Survivors include her husband; daughters Vera Lake of Eastlake, Lori Stopko of Mentor, Mary Ward of Mentor and Janet Aspinwall of Middlefield; son William Keith Davis of Willoughby; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Mila Richmond of Chesapeake, Va. and June Mincek of Cleveland; and brother Emmet Steele of Princeton, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Enid Hutchinson and Lura Miller and brother Lillard Steele.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Friday at Behm Family Funeral Homes, 26 River St., Madison, officiated by the Rev. Ray Mullet. Burial is in the Trumbull Township Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Harold E. Grapatin
GENEVA - Harold Emil Grapatin, 81, of South Ridge Road East, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at UHHS Memorial Hospital of Geneva.
He was born March 9, 1920, in Geneva, the son of Emil and Anna (Kalweit) Grapatin.
Mr. Grapatin was a lifelong Geneva resident, residing only a12 mile from his birthplace. He married Doris (Tinker) on Aug. 1, 1944.
He was a steam engineer marine and stationary all his life.
He attended grade school at North Geneva for eight years and high school at East Geneva Spencer for four years. He was a member of the first graduating class ever at Spencer in 1938.
He worked in the engine department for the Columbia Transportation Co.. for four years. Mr. Grapatin worked aboard the J.H. Frantz, the O.S. McFarland, and the Frank Vigor.
He joined the U.S. Merchant Marines and spent more than two years as an engineering officer in the European Theatre, until the war ended. Mr. Grapatin also worked as a stationary engineer at Uniroyal, Painesville from 1947 to 1987.
Mr. Grapatin loved to read and was interested in science and geography. He loved nature and was a member of the Ohio Sea Grant Advisory Board for 13 years. He also was a member of the World Wildlife Federation.
Mr. Grapatin had been a member of the Erie Shores Golf Club for more than 30 years and loved all sports, especially the Geneva Eagles, the Cleveland Indians, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also a member of the Geneva Area Lettermen's Association and he loved to fish and made many trips to Canada.
Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Pamela of Cleveland; two sisters, Edna Neuman of Geneva and Myrtle Palo of Burbank, Calif.; and a brother, George of Perry.
He was preceded in death by his son, Staff Sgt. Harold T. Grapatin, while he served in the U.S. Air Force in 1968; his parents; and a sister, Helene Berkopec.
No service or calling hours will be observed.

Howard D. Veon
GENEVA - Howard D. Veon, 74, of Geneva, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Brobard, W.Va., the son of William Henry and Emily (Westfall) Veon.
He worked at IRC Fibers, Painesville, and later retired from Reliance Electric, Ashtabula, as a stater winder.
He was active in Geneva First United Methodist Church, the Geneva Food Pantry, setting up or taking down meals whenever needed. He also delivered flowers for Ellies Flowers, and helped his neighbors.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; a son, Howard of Philadelphia; three daughters, Christine Nunan of Landenberg, Pa.; Susan Patterson of Erie, Pa., and Karen Artman of East Palestine, Ohio; a brother, Arnold of Coolville; four sisters, Mae Maze, Ruth Freed, Hazel Snider and Mary Winland, all of West Virginia; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James and Paul .
Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Behm Family Funeral Homes, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Hugh Hookway officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant in Geneva.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
