Shirley C. Kelley, 66, Cadiz, died Sunday, August 22, 2004 at her home. She was born March 20, 1937 in Unionvale, Ohio a daughter of the late Harvey and Nora Thompson Kelley.
She was a former member of the Cadiz Football Parents, active with wrestling and Little League parents, and was a retired GTE operator.
She was preceded in death in additon to her parents, by a son Eric Kelley; 2 brothers: Chester and Tom Kelley; and 2 sisters: Wilma Davidson and Vivian Straight.
She is survived by 2 sons: Jeff Kelley and Logan Coffman both of the home; a brother Archie Kelley of Cadiz; and 2 sisters: Alice Chaney of Louisville, Ohio and Ruth K. Brinker of Lodi, Ohio.
Calling hours are Tuesday, August 24, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Craig Haney officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.

Marvin A. Houze
October 02, 2004 - August 25, 2004
Marvin A. Houze, 90, Sebring, Florida, formerly of Cadiz, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 in Sebring, Florida. He was born October 2, 1913 in Cadiz, Ohio a son of the late Charles and Alice Rinehart Houze.
He was a retired farmer and Harrison County Treasurer. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Sebring; a member of Harrison Lodge #219, F.&A.M. where he served as past master; Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville; Harrison Chapter # 353 Order of the Eastern Star; Royal Arch Masons; Harrison County Farm Bureau; and Harrison County Grange.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Pauline Hines Houze in 1982.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Marlene Swope and Nancy Shephard both of The Village, Florida; 3 grandchildren: Stephanie Stoolmaker, Jennifer Crouse, and John Swope; and 4 great grandchildren: Emma, Jackson, Sara, and Eliza.
Calling hours are Monday, August 30 from 12:00 until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz with Terry Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.

John Robert ''Bob'' Elliott
August 11, 1925 - August 25, 2004
John Robert ''Bob'' Elliott, 79, Hopedale, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Carriage Inn of Cadiz. He was born August 11, 1925 in Cadiz, Ohio son of the late John and Martha Martin Elliott.
He was a member of Hopedale Presbyterian Church and was retired from Columbia Gas with 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Jean Rittenhouse Elliott; a son Robert and his wife Debbie of Canton; 2 grandchildren: Clayton Elliott of Phoenix, Arizona and Jaime Davis of Canton; 3 sisters: Bernice Hawkins and Mary Lou Chaney both of Hopedale and Vivian Barkhurst of Springfield, Virginia.
Private service was held at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz with Rev. Paul Hamilton officiating. Burial followed at Cadiz Union Cemetery.

Evelyn I. Albright
November 14, 1925 - August 29, 2004
Evelyn I. Albright, 78, Cadiz, died Sunday, August 29, 2004 at Carriage Inn of Cadiz. She was born November 14, 1925 in Wellsburg, West Virginia a daughter of the late Jasper and Mary Jane Dungan Hardsouk.
She was member of the First Church of God, West Warren Street , Cadiz and a retired nurses aide.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by 4 brothers: Charles, Bob, Thomas and Ralph Hardsouk; and 2 sisters: Carrie Morrison and Helen Hardsouk.
She is survived by 2 sons: Calvin Busby of Ashville, North Carolina and Charles Busby of St. Clairsville; 2 daughters: Linda Mader of Hopedale and Beverly Chema of St. Clairsville; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Calling hours are Tuesday, August 31, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m with Rev. Craig Haney officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio.

S. Katherine ''Kate'' Couch Campbell Clifford
March 28, 1918 - August 07, 2004
S. Katherine ''Kate'' Couch Campbell Clifford, 86, of Cadiz, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. She was born March 28, 1918 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late George and Katherine Mullen Couch.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, William N. Campbell in 1969; her second husband, John Clifford in 1994; two brothers, George (Skitch) and Lewis (Snook) Couch; three sisters, Mary Koehler, Virginia (Nin) Merryman, and Helen Wilfong.
She was a charter member and past president of the FOE Ladies Auxiliary, Cadiz Aerie 2162; a member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz; American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Cadiz Post 34; and the Harrison County Democratic Women's Club. Kate was an avid card player and was active in several bridge clubs in the Cadiz area.
Surviving are two sons, Neil Campbell and his wife, Marie of Crooksville, OH, and George Campbell and his wife, Raye Ann of Cadiz; a daughter, Jean Winski and her husband, Walter of Dillonvale; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Friends may call Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. William Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cadiz Volunteer Fire Dept. or to the Harrison Community Hospital.

George Edgar Reed
October 22, 1945 - August 06, 2004
George Edgar Reed, 58, of Cadiz, died Friday, August 6, 2004 at the Carriage Inn of Cadiz. He was born October 22, 1945 in Cadiz, a son of the late Donald and Louise Drake Reed.
He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church in Cadiz, where he served in the Gospel Expressions Choir and was on the Trustee Board. He also served as Church Custodian. He was a Custodian for A.E.P. for over 25 years, was a former employee of Cadiz Union Cemetery, and was a self employed window washer in uptown Cadiz for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Reed Carter, and by a brother, Howard Reed.
Surviving are his wife, Connie West Reed; a son Dale West and his wife, Tabitha of Cadiz; two daughters, Kimberly Moreland of Cadiz, and Marita Reed of the home; four grandchildren, Sasha Marie West, Michael Allen Moreland, John Thomas Moreland and Tyler William West; six brothers, David Reed, Paul Reed, James Reed, and Robert Reed, Sr., all of Cadiz, Earl Reed of Columbus, and Richard Reed of Germany; and a sister, Esther Reed Johnson of Columbus.
Friends may call Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church, 300 E. Market St., Cadiz with Rev. D'Wain O. Wales officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.

Justin Lee Brown
April 12, 1985 - August 06, 2004
Justin Lee Brown, 19, of Cadiz, died Friday, August 6, 2004 at his home. He was born April 12, 1985 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of Danny and Deborah Martin Brown of Cadiz.
A student at the Harrison Career Center, Justin loved to play football, swim, lift weights and drive cars. He was an employee of McDonalds in Cadiz, and was a member of the First Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Wilford and Betty Brown and John Martin.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Benjamin Tate Brown and Michael Wesley Brown; his maternal grandmother, Kay Martin; and several aunts and uncles.
Friends may call Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of Christ, 139 N. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio with Ken Swelbar officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.

Alice R. Cope
October 08, 1909 - July 30, 2004
Alice R. Cope, 94, Cadiz, died Friday, July 30, at her home in Cadiz. She was born October 8, 1909 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Chester Rogers and Della Delora Chambers Rogers.
She was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the East Warren Street Church of Christ in Cadiz and member of the former Harrison Chapter #353, Order of the Eastern Star where she served as past Worthy Matron.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; by her husband, Lloyd ''Copie'' Cope on June 25, 1981; 2 brothers and a great grandson.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her daughter, Annette Shelley of Columbus; her 3 grandchildren: Scott (Alicia) Shelley, Keisha (Curt) Underwood, and Brianna (Jerry) Mudd all of Columbus; and her 5 great grandchildren: Lucas, Brendon, Amber, Christopher, and Melanie all of Columbus.
Calling hours are Tuesday, August 3, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Evang. Charles Newell officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

Wayne O. Ferrell, Sr.
October 20, 1922 - July 28, 2004
Wayne O. Ferrell, Sr., 81, of Cadiz, formerly of Piedmont, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville, Ohio. He was born October 20, 1922 in Moorefield, Ohio, a son of the late Alvin Newton and Rosa Dama Clay Ferrell.
He was a member of the Piedmont United Methodist Church; Cadiz Post 34 of the American Legion, and the UMWA. He was an Army Veteran of WW II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a retired employee of Consolidation Coal Co., where he worked in the Rose Valley and Oak Park Mines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris E. Barnhart Ferrell in 1988, and by a brother, Kenneth Ferrell.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne Ferrell, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Cadiz, and Rick Ferrell and his wife, Fran, of Carrollton; five grandchildren: Wayne, Holly, Jason, Brandon and Nicole; and seven great grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday, 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles Mehl officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery, with Military Honors performed by the Cadiz American Legion.

Volena Boyce Lee
May 15, 1930 - July 23, 2004
Volena P. Boyce Lee, 74, of Jewett, formerly of Cadiz and Nettie, WV, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, West, Steubenville, Ohio. She was born May 15, 1930 in Leivasy, WV, a daughter of the late Arthur and Theta McClung Huffman.
She was a former employee of the Scio Pottery Company in Scio and the Carriage Inn of Cadiz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Boyce in 1964; her second husband, James Lee in 1988; a son, Kenneth Chester Boyce; a daughter, Kathy Boyce; a step-daughter, Judy Lee; a sister, Eleanor Strader; and two brothers, Calvin and Kirby Huffman.
Surviving are her longtime friend, Stanley Brodzinski; three sons, Danny, Tommy and Bobby Boyce; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; four step-sons, Gary, James (Jr.), Rodney and Ronnie Lee; three brothers, Art, Kelcie and Roy Huffman; and five sisters, Maxine Strader, Helen Laskey, Thelma Stevens, Thelda Dayton and Theta Lee.
Friends may call Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio.
Funeral services and burial will take place in Rainelle and Nettie, West Virginia.
