Hazel B. Lehtinen, 77 of Morgan Rd. West, Jefferson, Ohio died Sunday (Feb. 18th) at the Austinburg Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born December 9, 1929 in Doylestown, Ohio the daughter of Forrest M. and Estella B. (Stevenson) Cleckner and has been an area resident since 1952.
She graduated from Barberton High School, attended Ashland College for pre-nursing, she graduated as an RN from St. Luke’s Nursing School of Cleveland. She worked for ACMC for 29 years both as a floor nurse and surgical nurse.
She was active in the Operating Room Nurses Association, American Nurses Association and held state level office for Ohio Nurses Association. She is also a member of the Ashtabula County Coral Society.
She is a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, served on council and baked nisua.
She enjoyed camping, swimming, travel and took great pride in the fact that she had been to all 50 states as well as Canada and the Caribbean.
Surviving her are two daughters, Christine K. (David) Westlake of Plymouth Twp. and Joyce M. (James) Higgins of Ashtabula and a sister, Phyllis A. Peresta of Barberton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William K. Lehtinen in 1990; by a brother, Samuel J. Cleckner and a sister, Jane E. Lincicome.
Memorial service will be Saturday (March 3rd) at 2:00 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Ave. with Pastor Karen Tewes officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hour will be from 1:00 PM until the time of Service on March 3rd at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. Dorothy L. Becks

Mother Dorothy L. Becks, 84, W. 39th St., Ashtabula, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
She was born April 14, 1922 in West Virginia, the daughter of Realy & Ellen (Williams) Mosely and has been a resident of Ashtabula the past 43 years coming from Cleveland where she spent much of her life. Mother. Becks worked for many years in the cafeteria for the Ashtabula City School System.
She is a member of the People’s Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Society, the Mother’s Board, sang in the choir and the gospel chorus. She enjoyed shopping and traveling.
Survivors include two children, Cornel Williams of Syracuse, NY & Betty Williams of Ashtabula, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren & three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her church family, many friends and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marshall W. Becks, a son, Thomas Williams, a brother, Realy Mosely, Jr. & three sisters, Georgia Mackey, Vivian Page & Bertha Lewis.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 P. M. at the People’s Baptist Church, 3837 West Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Louis Grandeberry officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:30 A. M. to 1:00 P. M. at the church. The Ashtabula Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, is handling arrangements.
Janice Sweeney

Janice L. Sweeney, 65, Lake Rd. East, Geneva Twp., died Wednesday afternoon at her residence following a long illness.
She was born March 21, 1941 in Paintsville, KY, the daughter of Wise & Bulah (Stapleton) Kazee and has resided in the Geneva area all of her life. She was married to Roy G. Sweeney on September 6, 1958 in Geneva. Mrs. Sweeney owned and operated Jan’s Bait & Tackle on Lake Rd. for several years.
She was formerly active and served as secretary for the Geneva High School Athletic Boosters, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, auto racing and was a Cleveland Indians baseball enthusiast.
Survivors include her husband, Roy, children, James A. (Sharon) Sweeney of Thompson, Patrick “Rick” (Edna) Sweeney of Geneva & Lena M. (Robert) Gething of Austinburg Twp., six grandchildren, Jason, Alisha, Joe & Christie, Christopher, Ashley and two great-grandchildren, Jason & Trishtin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Timothy R. Sweeney in 1987.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 P. M. at the Geneva Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with Pastor Ken Wright of the Lake Erie Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday (today) from 6-8 P. M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.
Adeline S. Olkowski

Adeline S. Olkowski, 87 of Union Ave. Ashtabula died Thursday (Feb. 15th) at the Park Haven Nursing Home in Ashtabula. She was born August 11, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of Walter and Martha (Sadowski) Olkowski.
She enjoyed Flowers, cooking and baking.
Surviving her is a brother, Walter Olkowski of Ashtabula; a sister, Irene Bisesto of Ashtabula; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Jean Chudzinski, Dorothy Lapham and Isabel Olkowski.
Funeral service will be Monday (Feb. 19th) at 9:30 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Father Philip Miller of St. Joseph Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Saybrook Township.
Norma J. Chiaramonte

Norma J. Chiaramonte, 82, of Ashtabula and winter resident of Ocala, Florida died Tuesday (Feb. 13th) at home after a lengthy illness. She was born November 24, 1924 in Ashtabula Harbor. She was the daughter of Herman and Wilma (Asuma) Jokinen. Norma graduated in 1942 from Harbor High School and from Dyke Business College in Cleveland, Ohio.
She worked in the New York Central Railroad office where she met her husband, Edward W. Chiaramonte whom she married on June 8, 1946. She is a member of Second Congregation Church; Woman’s Club of Ashtabula County; Elks Ladies Association; 40 years member of Order of Eastern Star and a Volunteer of the ACMC Auxiliary.
She was proud of her Finnish heritage. Norma had a deep appreciation for a wide range of music including big band, country and top 40, especially Michael Bolton. She played the French horn in the Harbor High School orchestra and marching band. She was a pianist for the Eastern Star. She had various interests in sporting events including watching the Cleveland Indians, football games and attending horse shows. She enjoyed traveling across country including Alaska and Hawaii and spending winters at her home in Ocala, Florida. She was a wonderful baker and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings throughout the year. She dedicated her life to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother with her sweet and gentle way. Her family wants her to be remembered as being beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Edward W. Chiaramonte, daughters, Cheryle J. Chiaramonte of Ashtabula, Debra L. (Daniel) Hicks of Ocala, Fl; a grandson, Dustin Chiaramonte Wolff of Denver, Co.; a brother-in-law, Col. Robert M. Chiaramonte of Westerville, Ohio; nieces, Kim (Jay) Sears of Osteen, Fl and Sandra L. Chiaramonte (Russell) Scholl of Powell, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother and sister-in-law Evelyn Chiaramonte.
Funeral services will be Saturday (Feb. 17th) at 11:00 AM at the Second Congregational Church, 319 Lake Ave. Ashtabula with Rev. Glen Warner officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery in Ashtabula Twp.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 6 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula, Ohio and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.

Lucy Mae Rumer

Lucy Mae Rumer (Porter), 73 of South Maple Lane, Ashtabula, Ohio went to be with the Lord and her husband on Friday (Feb. 9th) at her home. She was born Dec. 5, 1933 in Petersburg, West Virginia the daughter of Edward and Vernon (Weiss) Porter and has lived in the Ashtabula area since 1955.
Lucy enjoyed being a house wife taking care of her family. She was a avid bowler, bowling twice a week for many years. She also enjoyed country music, baby sitting, visiting friends and family with her husband. She loved watching football and baseball. Her favorite teams were the New England Patriots, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. Lucy also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports over the years. Our mother was a joy to be with and we are thankful for the time we had with her.
Surviving her are three children, Diane L. (John) Rumer of Ashtabula, Gregg (Michele) Rumer of Conneaut, Ohio and Kevin (Sandy) Rumer of Ashtabula; two grandchildren, Michael Szabo of Defiance, Ohio and Amanda Rumer of Ashtabula; three brothers, Esten Porter, Curtis Porter and Paul Porter all from Petersburg, West Virginia and two sisters, Mary Hartman and Marge Porter of Petersburg, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Arvin A. Rumer; her parents and her sisters, Helen George and Shelva Jean Rumer both from Petersburg, W. Va.
Funeral services will be Tuesday (Feb. 13th) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Kenneth Roberts of the Pentecostal Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Ashtabula, Ohio.
